By: Jerry Ordway
Plot -
A group of Avengers (Vision, Thor, Black Knight, Firestar, Captain America, Wonder Man,
and the Scarlet Witch) head off into Thor's dimensional vortex, trying to find a way to
reach the missing Photon, who was captured by the evil Wrecking Crew. They find themselves
in Polemachus, home of Arkon, but the city before them lies in ruin. They search the city
but find no traces of Arkon or Photon. Back on Earth, Dr. Foster tells Justice that he is
not fit to fight, because of his injuries. He protests, but Iron Man forces him to stay.
But the Wasp and Giant-Man ran in, saying Warbird just disappeared in a flash of light.
Jarvis takes Justice away, so the other three can concentrate on finding Warbird. But
Warbird is the captive of the Doomsday Man. She frees herself from his prison, but is
soundly defeated. He tells her that she is his perfect match, bonded by their shared Kree
heritage. The Avengers arrive before the Doomsday Man can do permanate damage, but even
their power might not stop him. Back on Polemachus, the Avengers are attacked by a group
of Arkon's men, and Thundra, Arkon's lover, appears. But Thundra has lost an eye in the
battle, and she tells them that it may be too late to save Arkon or Photon! Back on Earth,
Justice flies off, hoping to save the other Avengers before its too late. Doomsday Man has
Warbird in his grips, but Justice frees her. But then the Doomsday Man hits Justice,
smashing his leg. The Wasp rushes to save him, while the other three fight off the
Doomsday Man. With Justice's help, they pull apart the robot, revealing Kerwin Korman, the
villain once known as the Destructor, within. He tells her that the Doomsday Man was going
to replace his failing form with Warbird's. Justice is taken to the hospital and the other
Avengers return home, hoping for the safe return of their teammates. |
