UNION BANK - GLEANER NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

WOLMERS REGAIN LEAD IN ZONE 1, AND MEADOWBROOK LEAD IN ZONE 2 Wolmers Boys regained the lead in Round 5 by defeating Kingston College while Meadowbrook maintained their consistent lead in Zone 2, as the preliminary rounds of the UNION BANK/GLEANER National High Schools Chess Championship continued last week.
KINGSTON ZONE (ZONE 1) RESULTS AFTER ROUND 5
In Zone 1 action on Thursday, the top of the table clash saw Wolmer's Boys take back the lead in the Zone after a 3.5 - 0.5 victory over Kingston College. Other matches saw St. George's College draw 2-2 with Charlie Smith and Wolmer's Girls also drawing 2-2 with Camperdown.This means Wolmer's Boys now tops the Zone with 12.5, followed by KC on 10 and St. Georges College on 9.5. ST. ANDREW ZONE (ZONE 2) RESULTS AFTER ROUND 5
In Zone 2 action on Friday Meadowbrook High, Ardenne High and Campion College Girls registered 4-0 victories over Calabar, Merl Grove and Meadowbrook Girls respectively. In the other match Campion's main team could only manage a 3-1 victory against their less fancied opponents St. Hugh's High.
