KC GRAB LEAD IN ZONE 1, AND MEADOWBROOK MAINTAIN LEAD IN ZONE 2

Kingston College grabbed the lead in Round 4 by blanking Charlie Smith while Meadowbrook maintained the lead in Zone 2, as the preliminary rounds of the UNION BANK/GLEANER National High Schools Chess Championship continued last week.

KINGSTON ZONE (ZONE 1) RESULTS AFTER ROUND 4

In Zone 1 action at KC on Thursday, KC blanked Charlie Smith 4-0, St. Georges College defeated Camperdown 3-1 and Wolmer's Girls held on to draw 2-2 with STATHS. These results left KC at the top of Zone 1 with 9.5 points, half point ahead of Wolmer's Boys.

ST. ANDREW ZONE (ZONE 2) RESULTS AFTER ROUND 4

In Zone 2 action at Campion College on Friday, defending champions Meadowbrook High continued their march through the Zone with another 4-0 victory, this time over Merl Grove. Other matches saw, Ardenne High also registering a 4-0 victory over Campion Girls, St.Hughs and Meadowbrook Girls drawing 2-2, and last year's runner-up team Campion College being held to a 2-2 draw by Calabar.

Meadowbrook High continue to lead the Zone with 14.5 points, ahead of the much improved Ardenne High who lie in second place on 12 points.
