Part1: Chalo manaye picnic A lovely small but very beautiful hill station, matheran is easily assecible from mumbai. We were three friends for this trek, (me,ashok and jignesh). We got early and took local train to kalyan. We have changed local train at kalyan and got into one which was going to karjat. One can catch direct train to karjat also. But from thane and kalyan, one don`t have to wait for long. There is three route (atleast known to me) and the one we used was direct road way from neral. This route is not meant for trekker, but still we choose this route because this was our first trek and we were in mood take it easy way. Although a better option is to take train, but we got late to get tickets and by the time we reached ticket window, seats were already over. The season was dry and all the along the way we`v saw the dried out waterfalls. It must have been very exotic during mansoon. After 2.5 hr walk, we reached the top. There on the top, we had to give entry fee, Why entry fee? as if we are entering into a national park atop a hill. Part2:Tinsel town For the whole day, we keep on walking and covering various points. Points are very beautiful like echo point, cherlott lake aurther lake, sindhia point, monkey point and many more. One gentleman told us that we can even have view of bhimashankar and other forts from top, but locating other peaks from there was not mine cup of tea. Rooms are available at damn cheap rent if one wants to spend night at the top. There are numerous hotels at the top. We had our lunch at a railway canteen. Horse riders were passing us every now and then. Whole day we kept walking and by the evening were so tired to take any more as still some points were left. So we decided to return. The time was 6 p.m them and it was already getting dark. So we took a taxi to down neral station. The return journey was as usual peaceful with a sense of accomplishment. At the end, it was a very momentful and beautiful trek, which I`ll gonna remember forever as another peace of memory recollection with my best friends among nature at its best. |
