Jounery through the dark It was for the first time with me that we had exact no. of bikes to carry all of us. We were berari baba, rajkumar aka james, saras aka charas and me aka pondy. It took me little persuation and bit lies to get rajkumar agreed to join us with his TVS Victor. I mis read the distance between powai and raigad to 150, infact it is around 250. This was a gross error to start journey at nite. Neway because of this lill mistake, rajkumar suffered most because by the time we were done with this trek, james has driven around 500 kms :). We had 2 bikes and started from powai at around 1:30 am at nite. We also had special arrangement of a pawwa of brandy to keep us warm. By the time we reached PEN it was around 5 am. The nite was breezy and it was getting too cold us to drive continuously, so we kept taking regular break of tea and brandy sips. Misty morning at MAHAD It was one of the most beautiful morning I`v ever happened to spend awake. There was total mist all around except for few patches. We were at MAHAD and there few attended nature`s call, few emptied their bladders. Raigad at the day break We reached the base village by 9:30 am. We were very exhausted by that time. so we took nap at the starting steps. We started the little trek up the fort and soon reached there within 1:30 hour. The fort was indeed splendid and we spend 3-4 hours at the top marveling at its splendour. It was quite hot there so we kept drinking kokam sharbat every now n then. At 3 pm when we decided to come down, each one of us had drunk drums of kokam sharbat :). Bye bye Raigad We started our back journey at around 4 pm. Within 2-3 hours of drive rajkumar started showing signs of heavy wear n tear as he was not allowing us to rotate driving on his bike because only he can better understand the braking and driving of that bike. When we reached PEN we got stuck to a heavy traffic jam. Because of some miss understanding we got split up only to meet at panvel after 1 hour. From panvel it was a quite and peaceful drive back to Powai. |
