| Peb is one small and beautiful one day trek. I recommend to have this trek
during mansoon. We were five parteners (Jignesh, ashok, santosh, akhilesh and
me). We started off early in the morning and got to the neral. From here the
walk to the base is of nearly 3 hrs. There are two ways to climb up. One is a
waterfall which leads straight to the top, though it takes less time but it is
bit slippery in the mansoon. We took the other path. This path goes through
another adjoined mountain to the top of peb. The climb was easy for most of the
part. But as we reached to the top of the adjoined mountains peak, we saw a narrow path through col joining the two peak. This path was bit tricky with
strong winds blowing. The tall grasses makes our visibility limited. But walking
among the tall grasses which were almost to our faces and the strong wind
added to our adventure. We reached the cave through col, there we rested for a while. But this is not the top, again a narrow path leads to the top. The fort
was very small, as it was used only for storage purpose. But the narrow path
leading to the top was very slippery because ot the rain. So we decided better
not to take the risk. We have some food provided by one man who was residing
in the cave. From this point one can easily see the "Nankhind" and the "Matheran". After spending nearly 2 hour, we decided to came down. This time
we choose the waterfall.
But thus way down was really really adventerous. As the rain started falling
heavily, we had to keep our concentration really hard on every rock we were
stepping on. At one point, we had to take a rope which was hanging there already
to climb down a little rock portion. That was really cool. At points we got
stuck and some of our friends find it hard to move down any further, we then
helped them like babies to get down. But all this was part of trek and without
any such incidents there is no game. We got down at evening and lost out
way back to station, we even lost two of our parteners while on our way back
to station. We randomly walked streets, lane and ways and finally found the
station. Either people were making fun or we were not understanding them while
they were telling us the way to st. We three got back and to great relief found
that the other two has also arrived safely back to our campus. This was the end
of a very beautiful mansoon trek, while at the start I did`nt thought that "peb"
will give us this much fun but it did so. |
