| It happened when I was a sophomore. Life was very happening and mind was
full of frekaing ideas as I have just got to be called mtself a senior. Now
thats really cool for a college guy. Now I don`t have to care so much about
code of conducts which we have to keep in mind during our freshy time. So I
just want to break free and thus decided to took some day off from campus.
We have three friends (Tenzin, Jignesh and me)and decided to visit
Mahabaleshwar, the most beautiful hill station in our ghatland. The auspicious
day was also kind of special as
we are having our social events, but the plan was already decided and it has
to be executed anyhow. So here is how the journey starts. We have decided to fetch the last train to pune because one of our friend tenzin have to get his hostel committments fulfilled. We took him off from the stage while the play was on. His only job at stage was to make sure that the backdrops gets drop at the right place at the right time. We reached the kalyan st. before 11:30. The last train to pune was about to arrive and when she does, we found that to get ourselves inside the train was like hell of a task. People inside simply refused to open the door. But the people outside somehow managed to get the door open and we found ourselves inside with a wave in flash of moments though i was feeling like I was squeezed out of some kilos in weight. The hardship did`nt end here and the space inside was so less to let you stand on your both foot and that too in a inclined position. We were really cramped inside and was cut out of the world for nearly 2 hours as I really did`nt knew where is my right hand when I was looking at my left one. After 2 hrs type we suddenly found some more space and little air breezing through. Some important station must had been arrived but who cares we have to be there till pune. Then somebody told us that for mahabaleshwar we have to get alighted at a small station little early then pune named Savari gate. We alighted at the station and first of all breathed fresh air. The time was around 4 a.m. The first bus (of ST transport) to mahabaleshwar was at around 6:30. We were really tired of the journey this far and so gave ourselves the refreshing luxury of tea and snacks. We took the first bus and were relaxing on our seats while enjoying the ghat ride. I was very much excited as this was my first visit to a hill station. The bus stops at a place which was already at much greater altitude, so the weather was really great. We again had tea and hop inside the bus. We finally reached the hill st. at around 10 a.m type. The moment we alighted of the bus, the local guides cum agent of lodges and hotels gathered around us and asked us to take their service. We were bit unlucky beacuse the local bus service was not up at that day bcs of some strike. So frist we decide to take room, get afresh and then decide further plan. Tenzin has then showed his bargaining and manageral skills to get us cheap room with very good service. The hotel manager was very friendly, he told us that the points are quite apart and are in all direction so we have to cover them one direction at a time. He hired us a maruti van. We first went to the mahabaleshwar temple and pray to the lord shiva. There we came to know that the five small river meets and formed a holy pond. People calls that place "Panchganga". This pond was also inside of the temple premises. We then set out for different points like "Echo point", "Tiger point", "Aurther point" and many more to mention here. We got back at the dawn. The service was really great and later on we noticed that a young couple was also staying at our neighbour hotel room which falls right opposite our room. Not to mention what we did then but we stop that peeking our nose when the hero got to know of our peeking around. We took a walk around in the city, the market place was very happening as people were in great jolly mood, not to forget the babes!!!!!!. At around 9 p.m we were enjoying our dinner. I was thinking of what a great day this was back in our room and thanking god for his grace on us. We got off early in the morning to get to the sun rise point as we`v missed the sun set point the previous day. We reached there walking and were regrating not to take some taxi beacuse the sun has already arose by then Neway we sat there for a while and returned for the return journey. We were not in any mood to leave that paradise but we have to comply to our budget planning which is not allowing us further stay. We took direct bus to dadar at 9.30. Return journey was bit senty, but we were enjoying the beautiful view of the vallies while praying side by side for our driver skills. On our way we got to know that we have missed one important point and that is "Pratapgad" , this one of the most splendid maratha fort of where "Maharaj Shivaji" has killed the infamous "Afjalkhan". Hardly 11 km from Mahabaleshwar lies the route which leads to the fort. Neway we have missed some but really njoyed some. We returned to dadar by evening and finally back to campus by night. Thats the end of my one of the most memorable tour. back to "My treks" |
