ROTK PLOT BUNNIES (4) R46. Pippin helps Sam plant the Mallorn seed in the Party Field. While they’re doing so, they unearth something that had been lost on the night of the long-ago Birthday Party -- the magical toy that 11-year-old Pippin had received from Bilbo. R47. Rosie is resistant to giving her firstborn a strange Elvish name -- until Sam explains to her what elanor means... and the beauty it represents. R48. Donated bunny
from Aelfwina: R49. After their rescue, Aragorn wants Frodo and Sam to only gradually return to eating solid food -- but the appetites of hobbits will not be denied. R50. Frodo turns down knighthood when it is offered, but he urges Sam to accept. What is Sam’s reason for also refusing? R51. Frodo has heard tales of the palantiri -- Sauron's, Saruman's, and Denethor's -- but has never seen one. In a private meeting with Aragorn, Frodo finally looks upon one of the legendary "seven stones" R52. Boromir and Faramir are not the only Gondorians who believed Galadriel to be a "Mistress of Magic", and Lòrien to be a land of great peril. Galadriel's presence in Minas Tirith for the wedding of Aragorn and Arwen doesn't meet with complete approval by all the citizens, and Gimli is angered by some of the comments he overhears. R53. Merry refuses any wealth or reward from Éomer, but somewhere on the way home, Frodo gives his cousin something that the King of the Mark asked him to give Merry. R54. Once Sam has dispersed Galadriel's magical dust and the Mallorn seed, what does he do with the box they came in? This bunny was adopted and raised by: R55. Possible comedy-bunny: Waking from his long, healing sleep after his rescue, Frodo realizes that -- since they had 14 days to grow without being nibbled on -- he has fingernails for the first time in years. The other hobbits band together to take strong measures to keep him from starting up his old habit. This bunny was adopted and raised by: R56. Browsing through the books and scrolls in Minas Tirith's archives, Frodo comes across something he never dreamed he'd see -- Isildur's hand-written account of the finding of the Ring. He thinks about this Man who had his chance to destroy the Ring -- but didn't. (OR: Frodo discusses his find with Gandalf, or even with Elrond -- who knew Isildur personally.) R57. Among those
kneeling to the hobbits at the coronation is Elrond. Elrond hasn't knelt to
anyone since the First Age, when Gil-Galad -- who perished in battle with Sauron
-- was his lord and king. What are his thougghts? R58. Passing near Moria on their way home, Pippin is uneasy as he remembers the Balrog. Trying to put the incident to rest at last, he asks Gandalf to explain what that creature was, and what it wanted -- and whether there are any more like it.. R59. When they return to Rivendell, the hobbits go to the meadow where the horses roam... and have a special visit with Boromir's horse. R60. The Day of Coronation is at an end at last, and Aragorn is king. That very first night, Faramir has to quickly arrange lodgings for everyone in the Citadel. Where does the new king sleep?
