ROTK PLOT BUNNIES (1) R1. Plot bunny... inspired by shadofax8's amazing screen caps of the four hobbits back at the Green Dragon. No one at the Inn knows or cares what the Travellers have accomplished, yet the four friends seem content, and silently toast each other. One reason for Frodo's contentment might stem from him remembering what 'Strider' said at Elrond's Council: "If simple folk are free from care and fear, simple they will be, and we must be secret to keep them so." These four know what they've done, and it's enough that the Shire is safe and untouched by the Darkness. Is that what Frodo is thinking? What about the others? Or... what might the "regulars" at the Inn be thinking, if anything? Ficlet or drabble could be angst, comedy, or quiet reflection. Any takers? This bunny was adopted and raised by: R2. When Aragorn honors Frodo and Sam at Cormallen by seating them on his "throne" and having the minstrel sing, what are Merry and/or Pippin thinking? What is Aragorn thinking? R3. On the way home,
after the Quest, Merry tries to explain to his friends his deep feelings for
Theoden and why he is so proud to be a Knight of Rohan. R4. In Minas Tirith, Gandalf gives Frodo his first, exhilarating ride on Shadowfax... while the other hobbits (or others) look on. This bunny was adopted and raised by: R5. One evening, Aragorn is drawn to visit the restored White Tree, and finds that one of the hobbits has had the same idea. What do they talk about? Or do they talk at all? This bunny was adopted and raised by: R6. The thoughts of each (or one) of the other hobbits at Aragorn’s coronation, as Frodo is given the honor of carrying Aragorn’s crown to Gandalf. R7. At Cormallen, Gimli measures out for Frodo the length of the troll that fell on Pippin, and Frodo realizes the enormity of what happened to his young cousin. R8. In Minas Tirith, after Aragorn and Arwen's wedding, Pippin seeks out Elrond to thank him for allowing he and Merry to accompany Frodo on the Quest. How does this conversation go? R9. When he meets Frodo, Treebeard senses that he is not as "hasty" as the other hobbits. What does this ancient being think of Frodo? Do they speak together at all? This bunny was adopted and raised by: R10. Riding home from
Rivendell, Gandalf and hobbits crossed the Ford of Bruinen on October 6, and
Frodo felt pain, unease, and a “memory of darkness”. According to FOTR, it
didn’t pass until the end of the next day. What happened during those two days? R11. Faramir introduces the hobbits to Minas Tirith’s hot springs (or hot baths) -- warmed by Orodruin’s volcanic vents. R12. Bergil wants to do something special for Pippin to thank him for saving his father’s life. R13. Aragorn is the first person to sit on the throne of Gondor in nearly a thousand years -- what are his thoughts and feelings when he first does so? R14.
Movie-verse bunny: When Pippin hears about how Sam and Frodo hid from the
soldiers outside the Black Gate by using the camouflage of Frodo’s Elven cloak,
he dares them to hide under their cloaks somewhere “in plain sight” -- he knows
that he’ll be able to find them. R15. In Minas Tirith, Aragorn is mystified by the hobbits’ sore throats -- until he learns that Gimli finally succumbed to their requests, and had been attempting to teach them his language. This bunny has been adopted
