FOURTH AGE BUNNIES (1)
Plot Bunnies for Fanfiction Taking Place after "The Return of The King"

*   Fourth Age Bunnies 1-15   *   Fourth Age Bunnies 16-30   *

A1. Sam remains calm and peaceful during the particularly difficult birth of his second child -- because Mr. Frodo had foreseen at least six children, and Sam knows that all will be well.

A2. Rosie's reaction when a delegation visits her humble husband, who has done so much for the Shire, to announce that Wil Whitfoot is retiring and would Sam consider taking over as Mayor.

A3. Merry and Pippin, remembering the taste, smell, and look of the Ent draught, get an urge to try to recreate it.

A4. Ulmo, Lord of waters, sends the news throughout all of Middle-earth’s streams and rivers that the Ring-bearer has sailed West -- and the news soon reaches Goldberry, the River-daughter.

A5. Donated bunny from Meldewen04:
We know that Aragorn was a great healer in his own right but despite all he did to help Frodo to heal, it was not enough to heal the Ringbearer fully of his wounds. Therefore, write a story where upon hearing of the departure of the Ringbearers into the West, Aragorn had to deal with the guilt over his failure to help Frodo finding healing. You can have Aragorn pull out of his guilt on his own, but you'll receive bonus points from me if someone (either Arwen or Legolas or both) is the one(s) that help him overcome his guilt, melancholy...

A6. Donated bunny from Elwenlj:
I would love to see the King arriving at Pippin's first celebration as Thain. Oh boy . . . would that be a party!

A7. Donated Bunny from Meldewen04:
ANGST ALERT!!!

In Appendix “C” we read the family trees of the Tooks, Brandybucks, Bagginses, and Gamgees. Farmer Cotton’s family is listed on the Gamgee family tree as they are cousins, and what’s more, Rose is listed as having a twin brother named Wilcome (otherwise known as Jolly). Write a story in which there was a 14th Gamgee child, a twin sister to one of Sam and Rose’s sons (anyone but Frodo) -- but from birth the little girl is sickly, and dies after surviving for a short time period. How does the family deal with this loss? Do Sam and Rose ever tell this particular son he once had a twin sister?

A8. Tolkien writes that, when Aragorn left Cerin Amroth after showing it to Frodo, “he came there never again as living man.” Did he come there again not living, perhaps? Since that’s the spot where Arwen died, did they somehow reunite there after her death?

A9. After a bit of mischief, Faramir Took wonders if his father’s legendary Elven cloak will hide him from sight.

A10. Donated bunny from Meldewen04:
- In S.R. 1436 S.R. King Elessar came to Lake Evendim and dwelt there for a time, Elanor was a maid of honor to Queen Arwen and yet she had never heard the story of how Arwen gave up her immortality and her people to be with the mortal Man who became King Elessar. How does hearing the tale affect her and her hopes and dreams for the future?

A11. King Elessar gives Sam “the Star of the Dunedain” (a diamond) 15 years after Frodo leaves Middle-earth. What does Sam do with it, once he has it? What becomes of it when he sails West?

A12. Donated bunny from Rabidsamfan:
If Sam's children had a way to write to Frodo, what might they put into their letters at different times in their lives?

A13. Donated bunny from Rubynye:
In "The Departure of Boromir" (TTT), Aragorn and Legolas sing a lament for Boromir. Do They ever sing it to Faramir? Or at a public service in honor of Boromir?

A14. Aragorn reigned as king for 122 years, and by the time of his passing, no one in Gondor could remember a time when it had been otherwise. The loss of King Elessar is a time of grief... but also of looking back, and rejoicing in what Gondor has become under his rule.

A15. Possible comedy-bunny: Aboard the ship to the West, Elrond and Gandalf are amazed that -- contrary to their fears -- Frodo is nearly the only one aboard not affected by sea sickness, and stays as healthy as can be as he helps to tend the less fortunate. (Yes, I know that Elves probably wouldn’t get seasick, but this is AU!)
