FOURTH AGE BUNNIES (2)
Plot Bunnies for Fanfiction Taking Place after "The Return of The King"

*   Fourth Age Bunnies 1-15   *   Fourth Age Bunnies 16-30   *

A16. The captain of the ship bearing the Ringbearers into the West halts the ship -- so that Frodo can swim with the dolphins.

A17. “...and among them, filled with a sadness that was yet blessed and without bitterness, rode Sam, and Frodo, and Bilbo, and the Elves delighted to honour them.” (ROTK) In what way(s) did the Elves honour the Ring-bearers on the way to the Grey Havens?

A18. We learn in the books that Faramir has often dreamed of Numenor, and he dreamed of the summons to Elrond’s Council (among other things). When the Ringbearers sail West, it’s Faramir who senses it, and he visits the King and Queen of Gondor to relate to them his latest dream.

A19. One evening, as the Ringbearers’ ship nears Valinor, a graceful white bird alights on the deck and transforms... into Elwing, Elrond’s mother.

A20. A palantir that looks only to the Undying Lands was kept at the Tower Hills near the Grey Havens. When the Ringbearers arrive at the Grey Havens, and before they sail, Cirdan offers Frodo, Galadriel, and Elrond a chance to look into it. Do any of them accept the offer? Does Frodo want a look at the lands awaiting him? Does Elrond wish to see his wife? Does Galadriel long for an early glimpse of home?

A21. While aboard ship, Frodo asks the Elves if they will let him steer for awhile.

A22. Donated bunny from Qinfinity:
Gimli is the first Dwarf to be welcomed to the Undying Lands. How is he received -- a Dwarf among Elves?

A23. Donated bunny from Qinfinity:
It is said that Gimli the Dwarf sailed with Legolas not only because of their great friendship, but also out of the desire to again see the beauty of the Lady Galadriel. What does he think before or after meeting with the Lady again for the first time in over a century?

A24. Donated bunny from dreamflower02:
It’s pretty accepted that Sam joined Frodo after Rose’s death, but how? Who accompanied him, and how did he sail? We know that Elrond’s sons delayed their decision when their father left -- do you suppose they went with Sam?

A25. On the way to the Havens (or aboard Ship), Frodo begins to wonder about how he was able to “see” so much about Sam’s future and children. He has a discussion with (Gandalf? Galadriel? Elrond?) about “the gift of foresight”.

A26. In S.R. 1427, “King Elessar issues an edict that Men are not to enter the Shire.” What led up to this edict? Did the hobbits have any say in the matter? Had something happened to precipitate such an act? How was it enforced, or was there ever any need? Buckland was never precisely within the borders of the Shire -- was it included in the edict?

 A27. Donated bunny from Endaewen:
In the generations to come, what does the Shire think of Merry, Pippin, Frodo and Sam? Do they believe the Red Book, think it’s all made up, or...? Are the Travellers admired, or looked down on?

A28. Donated bunny from Periantari:
Merry and Sam have a conversation after seeing Frodo off... maybe a day or two after Frodo leaves from the Grey Havens. What do they talk about? Does Sam feel badly that Merry knew Frodo was leaving before he did? Would both of them feel sorrow? How would they help each other deal with the loss?

This bunny was adopted and raised by:
Citrine - On the Way Home

A29. Donated bunny from Periantari:
Reading Appendix B: Tale of Years, and looking at the later years regarding the Fellowship, makes me reflect on the year that Rosie died and Sam departs from Middle-earth. Little time elapsed between Rosie dying and Sam making the ultimate decision to follow Frodo (Rosie dies on Mid-year's Day and Sam leaves on September 22). Could Sam not find peace in Middle-earth anymore? No comfort with his 13 children? Did Merry and Pippin hinder/have any thoughts about his leaving? And although Sam may have been reunited with Frodo, what of the people he loved in the Shire that he left behind?

A30. How does Minas Tirith discover that Queen Arwen is pregnant? How do the common folk get their first glimpse of the new Prince or Princess, once born? How do Aragorn and Arwen decide on a name for their firstborn?
