There is a graveyard in the wids
Old souls abide their gravestanes hid,
Time his tane their words awa'
An' vandals make it no sae braw.
Lower Carbarns is whur it lies
The geese flee by wi' dolefu' cries,
Echoin' the feelin' o' the place
Disapearin' like them wi' oot a trace.
Covenanters lie ablow the grun
Who fought wi' rapier staff an' gun,
Fir freedom frae religious chains
That bound them Men an' Wives an' Weans.
If they came back an' hid a peek
At whar they bide the wid be seek,
Neglected is no the wurd fir it
Kye tramp owr it an' hiv a sit.
I'd licht tae see it sorted oot
Wi walls an' gates tae keep kye oot,
The heidstanes tae be upricht staun
An show respect tae them thats gone.
