In Neoasis, his bed was the hard, cold pavement of the citys dark alleys. Jacinta was the only one in the city who really wanted anything to do with him, but he did not feel in any way comfortable sleeping even near her house. The result was that Alex slept very little, and very poorly. Now that he could once again sleep in peace and comfort, he loved to indulge in it as often as possible. Despite the fact that a new adventure was simply waiting for him, Alex had no problem making it wait as long as it possibly could. It was just after midday when Alex finally awoke. He stretched and yawned, then reluctantly leaped from his bed. He opened his closet, revealing a single outfit: a clean, dark blue shirt, asphalt black jean pants, and a black leather jacket. This is it. The start of my great adventure, Alex said to himself as he began to equip his new outfit. Alex walked down the Neopolis streets with more confidence than ever. He felt as though an aura of power flowed from him. Every step he took, he noticed himself and the coolness of his new outfit. Citizens passing on the street also took notice of Alexs new look, staring as though he was a complete stranger. Alex marched proudly into the control room. I am ready, he announced. The control room was nearly empty. Alex was expecting to see Zero, or maybe Ruby, but from what he could see, no one from the Absolute Zero crew was present. Zero and the others have gone to see Tetra, came a female voice from the command chair. Dont expect Zero to be back soon. Tetra? Where is she? Why hasnt he been running the ship? Alex asked. Tetra has been put into a stasis chamber to help her heal, was the voices reply. Alex contemplated the situation, considering whether or not it would be wise to introduce himself to a total stranger. However, whoever was now in command of the ship would have to be most trustworthy. My name is Alex Lorn. I am a member of the Absolute Zero team, and await instruction for my current mission. Alex Lorn? the voice asked puzzled. What is this Absolute Zero? And what is your mission? For me to tell you that, I would like to know who you are and why you are in control of this ship at the moment. Alex insisted. Very well, then. The command chair swiveled around, and a creature quite unlike anything Alex would have imagined would be sitting in it was slumped into it. The names Luna, it said, third in command of the great flying city of Metropolis. Alex saw that Luna was a grey wolf with long, black hair tied in a ponytail. She seemed to be about the last sort of person he would entrust with command of anything. Her crystal blue eyes looked blankly at Alex. She was all dark from head to toe; she wore a black tank top, black gloves, black jean pants, and black shoes. The only thing that was not black about her was a red patch on her jeans. She nearly blended with the command chair. Alex noticed that she was chewing gum, and wondered if she was simply kidding about the third in command comment. This isnt Metropolis anymore, said Alex. ![]() |
