You may have heard several accusations against J.K. Rowling saying that the Harry Potter books have been playjerised. Well first of all, I would like to say that this page is NOT making ANY accusations! In fact, I'm just pointing out small coincidences!

Anastasia
Hold on there! I'm not talking about the singer who recently released an album called 'Freak of Nature' and I'm also not talking about the real-life Russian princess (well, sort of). I'm talking about the 20th Century Fox movie 'Anastasia', a fictional tale based on the story of the turn-of-the-century Russian Princess Anastasia. She lived in a huge palace with her family, but when her family rejects and evil con-artist named Rasputan, she is orphaned. (Rasputan lied and said that he had healling powers for the son of the queen of Russia. When he was discovered to be a fraud, he was banished from the palace, but one night during a ball he returned to the palace and was once again banished. In anger, he sold his soul to Satan for the power to destroy the entire Romanov dynasty. All the family died except for Anastasia) Anastasia was sent to live in an orphanage. They named her 'Anya' there, but one day she left the orphanage (by the way, she has no memory of any of this) and went out to see the world, she was discovered by her long-lost grandmother in France and was crowned the queen of Russia, all the while battling the evil forces of Rasputin, barely keeping his soul until the day Anastasia was killed. So why is this similar to Harry Potter? Well because Anastasia's family was killed by the evil Rasputin. Harry's family was killed by the evil Lord Voldemort. Anastasia was sent to live as an orphan, knowing nothing of her past. Harry was sent to live with his only remaining relatives, knowing nothing of his past. Anastasia finally found out who she was and found happiness, but still had to fight the powers of Rasputin. Harry finally learned that he was a wizard and found happiness at Hogwarts, though he often runs into Lord Voldemort's evil plans. Now of course the stories are both totally unique, but they do share some odd similarities!

A Series of Unfortunate Events
Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire's mansion caught fire one day while they were at the beach. Their parents died in the fire and they have since been traveling from foster home to foster home. If things could get any worse, an evil man with one eyebrow named Count Olaf is after their fortune, and will stop at nothing to kill two of the Baudelaires so he can steal their fortune. This story is similar to Harry Potter because it talks about orphans who are sent to live (well, the orphans only at first) with family members as foster parents. In one part of the events in the Baudelaire story, they are sent to live at bording school, which they do not like. In one part of the events in the Harry Potter story, Harry is sent to live at a bording school, which he does like. The books are actually rather different from each other, but most Harry Potter fans that I know of are also into A Series of Unfortunate Events, and you will see why if you read these wonderfully entertaining books! One little coincedence I thought I should add is that the second book in A Series of Unfortuante Events is called 'The Reptile Room' and a giant snake lives in this room. The second Harry Potter book is called 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets' and a giant snake lives in this chamber as well. However, the books are very much different and have nothing in common when it comes to the type of snake, I just thought that was interesting.
