Installing the Exchange Server Software

Log on to the Windows NT Server as the Administrator.

Load the Exchange Server CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.

Locate and change directories to the Setup directory.

D:\setup\i386\setup.exe

When the setup program starts click Accept to continue past the Licensing dialog box.

Next Select Typical Installation

Now click the check box to select Per Seat licensing, and then click OK. 

In the Organization and Site dialog box, choose Create a New Site. Then enter the Organization Name and Site Name and click OK. 

A dialog box appears, asking, "Are you sure you want to create a new site?" Choose Yes.

A dialog box appears, confirming that the rights have been granted choose OK. 

Next choose ok to finish the installation, exchange now copies to setup files and installs the service to the NT server

When the installation is complete, a dialog box appears asking whether the Exchange Server Optimiser should be run. Select YES, and once the optimiser has analysed your system, just keep clicking next selecting the default settings.

Now reboot NT after the installation is complete. This will confirm that the service will start without error.
