PeteDotCom -> Networking -> TCP/IP -> Setup on Windows 98 ->

Double click on my computer, then open control panel.

Next double click on the network icon.

Next have a look at the network components installed on you computer. IF TCP/IP is not there already, then click on the add button and highlight Protocol as and shown on the right and click add again.

Click on Microsoft, and on the right hand side,
scroll down to and highlight TCP/IP and click OK.

Now to configure TCP/ IP.

Click on the network icon again from the control panel.

Change the Primary Network Logon to a Windows Logon.

Next highlight TCP/IP and click properties.

On the IP Address tab, place a dot in the radio button titled Obtain an IP address automatically. As shown on the right.

Next click on the WINS Configuration tab and place a dot in the radio button titled Disable WINS Resolution.

Then click the Gateway tab. Make sure that the Installed gateways window is completely empty.

Lastly, click the DNS Configuration tab and place a dot in the radio button titled Disable DNS.

After you have finished, click the OK button at the bottom of the TCP/IP properties screen. You will be prompted to restart your system so that the changes take effect; please restart once you are prompted
