Other Names: Spring Equinox Information: Ostara comes from Eostre, the German spring Goddess. It is also linked to Kore, who went into the Underworld and came back transformed into Persephone, and Ceres, who is said to walk round all the corn fields blessing the new plants. The God and Goddess mate at Ostara and all the new plants are growing. The symbol of all the new life is the egg. There was a rabbit who wanted to give Eostre a gift so he decorated lots of eggs and gave them to her. She wanted all the people to have eggs too, so the little rabbit gives out eggs to everyone. Chocolate eggs Yes, technically you could buy them but this is fun and messy. Get an egg =) make a little hole at the point of the egg and a hole at the bottom, but be careful not to smash it. Let all the insides of the egg run out into a pot (you can save it for making cakes or something with later) Then blow through one hole and blow all the rest of the goo out. Wash it out with hot water and dry it. If you dont want to bother you can buy little egg moulds from supermarkets for Easter. Melt enough chocolate to fill the egg up with. Put the egg in a cake case so the chocolate doesnt run everywhere. Fill the egg up with chocolate. After it has all cooled down you can break the shell by tapping it with a spoon and you are left with a chocolate egg. Ostara is also a good time for planting a herb garden, and having fresh flowers in the house. You could try casting a circle by laying flowers on the ground or making them into wreaths to go in your hair.
