As all things exist, there was the One. It was harmony and shimmering emotion. It wavered and faded, exploded and pulsed. It was the energy of Being. The One had been for all Time, when suddenly, two creatures were born of it. One male, one female, and the two were the One and the One had created them. Living inside their souls was the Energy of Being. She felt the Energy inside first, entwining with her consciousness, and evolving her into a creation of ultimate power. She came to Him, the stars in her eyes, the moon her rounded belly, and her arms enfolding him into a beautiful eternity of harmony. He looked at Her, watching, curious as to how She had stumbled upon this great energy. Then she touched his cheek gently, looking deep into His eyes, and suddenly, his power arose in him, strengthening him in a ritual of Rebirth. They embraced, holding each other tightly. Gradually, the Energy between them rose to a climax, filling them with knowledge of how to Create. And all things came from the Union. Fire burned, the firstborn of their children. They watched together as Fire reached for things, first appearing to destroy them, then changing them completely. Anything in its way was transformed. It was not good for change to occur without a reason. Chaos was not the only thing They wanted to Create. Air whistled, the second eldest. Air was more efficient than its brother. It focused its energy and extinguished parts of Fire. Yet, it was also imperfect. She became upset over this. How could imperfect things be Created from perfection? Air could not completely overrun Fire, and at times, it seemed to be encouraging Fire to continue burning, taunting it. He held Her, and comforted Her. He promised that their next Creation would be more perfect. Water gurgled, the third child. It rushed over Fire and Air, sweeping them down into its depths. No matter how hard its siblings fought to gain freedom, Water pushed them farther inside of itself, nearly killing them. She cried out to Him, "Must our children die because they are imperfect?" He answered softly, "Total destruction is not perfect. It is not the way of the One." They knew that to save Fire and Air from their vengeful sister, they had to Create a place for them to live. Earth rumbled, the youngest. She swept her brothers up onto her shores, giving them sanctuary. Water was angry and began to erode Earth, without mercy. But it was a slow process. Fire and Air took pity on their sister and went to calm Water's anger. Water pounded against Earth, yet Fire evaporated water and sent her sweeping into Air's arms. Air could not destroy Water, so he placed her back onto Earth. Earth absorbed Water, and plants were Created. Yet Water could not be defeated, she could only be delayed in her quest to destroy her sister. They looked upon this battle, and noticed that beautiful things were being Created, although great destruction was occuring. And Creation from Destruction was the way of the One. It was perfection again, each child doing its job. The One exploded with joy, and many thousands of souls were Created. They came to rest on the Earth, and learned of the ways of their older brothers and sisters. Fire burned, but transformed things into newer forms. Air swept away, but also brought Water. Earth was their home, but crumbled down after many years, forming new shapes to the ground. Water took away many things, but also gave them life. And it was perfect, it was the way of the One. |
