Life according to ME...the message board of my mind
Thoughts for the Days...
August 21, 2001..I miss this glorious part of the day, and once-upon-a-time when I could enjoy it everyday, greeting the sun with ambition, promise, and the time to take it all in--Simple pleasures.
Gotta think about one last shin-dig, a trip to college, and will Dave's bike be fixed quickly enough before we miss too much riding, HOG meeting tonight...
Is it wrong of me to lose patience when adults around me, that should know better, keep scr**ing up their lives and making problems for themselves? Am I getting bitter? Be thankful for health, be thankful for family, simple things that so easily can be taken away---somehow I'm thinking of these children I've met lately, Rebecca, Stan the Man, and then there's Jamie, all of which had to deal with hardships they didn't ask for.....
August 20, 2001...Life is good, gotta keep that thought always, Make memories as you can, keep them in your heart and never let go, it's much too easy to get sucked away in a black hole or to forget to be grateful for the simplest of blessings...I am very blessed in many ways....
Prayers that Paul makes a quick recovery after he & his bike take a spill, prayers for that and more....
August 19, 2001...a day of rest--sorta---volleyball and cartwheels can be strenuous!..theater games and impulsively auditioning for a role in Nuremburg Community Player's next fall comedy, [What must I be thinking???] I was all prepared for "Peter Pan" and turns out it's going to be a hilarious sequel to "the Sensuous Senator"..Mark your Calenders and don't miss it! It's going to be good! (October 19, 20, 21st)
August 18, 2001...A busy, busy day! We delivered Mr. D's bike to Schaeffers for transmission repair, on the way back, bikes already lined up for the charity run later that day, the town social is also today, and we have a family wedding to attend! How can we do all that in one day?...Well, we did manage to get a glimpse of everything....Sweet Rebecca, the guest of honor for the bike run...
A few of our friends we wanted to see off before the ride: Kev & Les,, and Ted, Bill, Wilkie, & the gang, Hey! Deadhead Kev, send me your email address and I'll send the photos I took of you & Erica directly to you....Nice Bike! : )
August 17, 2001..
EEKS! Mr. D's having transmission troubles with his bike! Oh No!..Good thing we weren't on a long ride somewheres....
Why is it there will be days & weekends where nothing much is happening then everything falls on the same day and of course you can't do it all?!..bummerz! This benefit ride seems like it'a going to be awesome and we have to miss it---Darn! Not only that some of our friends are having parties afterward, and continuing the fun..double darn! If you're not a biker (or if you are..hehe) there's always our church "Town Social" happening Saturday as well. Take a look at last year's photos for a sneak peek at the fun they'll be having there...While we're taking care of family business, we'll hope for a wonderful sunshine-filled day for all!
Sincere prayers for that little girl with all the health problems, my goodness, we are so fortunate to have our health, prayers for all struggling with hardships..
August 16, 2001...We went to see "Planet of the Apes"...I'm not sure what to say about it, I really was anxious to see Tim Burton's vision... remember the twisted-ness of Beelejuice, Edward Scissorhands...This was as confusing as the first one and as campy as the originals too---just my opinion. Dave liked it, the special effects were impressive, I guess I just expected more...
August 15, 2001...Cell phones are confusing! Or I am easily confused....Sorry Chop, about that conversation with my mother, I accidentally left on your voice mail, when I didn't know my phone wasn't turned off...What a **** I can be!did it take all your minutes for the month???
Amazing how anything you might want, you can do a search for on a pc and find, believe it or not, you can get fresh, live hardshell crabs delivered to your door! that's anywhere in the country too, not entirely surprising when I got my mannequin on Ebay!***: )
August 14, 2001...Gosh, just about everybody and their biker neighbor, is going on the upcoming charity run in the area, and because of another family commitment, we can't go..Phooey!...It sounds like it's gonna be such fun...oh well, sometimes ya ride, sometimes ya don't : (
August 13, 2001...My two guys coming home from a hard day at work and Carl's last day as a "tankie"..hehe, more incentive to do well at college!
I don't like to go in Redner's Supermarket-- I don't know where anything is---they have such an illogical system for grouping items, for instance you would expect to find honey with pancake syrup, right? WRONG! It's with the peanuts and raisins, I spend way too much time walking around that HUGE store looking for one item--anyway, today I figure an easy stop, I know right where the tortilla shells are, with the cheese and yogurt where it's always been...Wrong! They moved it, all the way to the other end of the store with the salad in a bag, I really don't like that store! I think that's just a ploy to get you to pick up things as your looking for that needed item, well wrong!, because I'm so stubborn I've already walked out buying nothing! so there!...
Deepest saddness and prayers for the family of that little girl in Shamokin....
August 12, 2002... WooHoo! Lester bought a new bike, a 1200 Sharp-lookin' Sporty! I'll miss the tweety-birds...but this one's cute too! : )
August 11, 2001...A [much-needed--we're on a drought watch] rain-out weekend, for bike riding anyway---a good chance to catch up on home stuff, a little mall walking and people watching, ever notice the couples at Lowes debating their home improvement projects, (usually the woman's doing more of the talking...) or the wife who's had enough and has that blank stare of boredom, then there's the guy by himself who's in tool heaven...all smiles!...
Well I joined the cellular bunch, as much as I'm anti-phone, I figure I'm a safer gal on a bike with a cell phone--Hopefully I won't need to find out.
*sigh* the heat wave's over~~~~~~!
August 10, 2001...Nuremburg Community Players, great acting as usual, gotta question one of those scripts for a "night of comedy", but good drama nevertheless, the grand finale "Jewel" as "Satan" was perfect! Jewel you deserve a nepta award for your performance! God was pretty good as well, I loved the tatoo!..of course a female satan would have a tatoo on her ******...! Great script-writing Jay!
August 9, 2001...Gosh it's THAT HOT and our workplace closes down early, hard to believe! And what do I do?... come home and make pickles, yup! Fire the stove up, boil the jars and roast the ol' kitchen up, oh well, when the cukes are ripe, that's the time, that's one of those jobs when it's all done, you sit and look at those half a dozen sealed jars, listen for the comforting *pop* a little while later, and all seems well in the world, like you're prepared for the winter----Remember those days Mr. D?....
Reminds me what I did before I worked outside the home, and I'm thinking now if there's a pricetag on time, those are pretty darn valuable dill pickles!...MMM-M Garlic-y!!
Gosh, when ya look at those Sturgis Web Cams, it looks like there's no room to walk, let alone ride your bike!...
August 8, 2001...I'm finally getting to read yesterday's newspaper and I see a headline, "Shenandoah can't find the time capsule", now I don't know about anyone else, but something strikes me funny about that, first of all, I remember that time capsule buried in 1976, for the bicentennial, but I'm thinking, this town is smack in the center of the Anthracite coal mining region, abandoned strip mining shafts lie underneath there are continual subsidences, no home is level in Shenandoah, and they're surprised they can't find the time capsule buried 25 years ago???...it just made me chuckle, like maybe it's in China by now...hehe...but not to worry...I have today's paper and it says they have found it and all the sentimental memories buried in it..
A sad news item; according to statistics there have been a whopping 35% increase in motorcycle fatalities in PA (150), and motorcycle crashes statewide have seen a marked increase according to PennDot, I always figured there are more riders these days, and later in the article it says 173,070 registered motorcycles in 1996 to 210,788 last year, so....Everybody gotta take the safety course! Everybody! not just the girls! 1-800-845-9533
August 7, 2001...Things I've been thinking about and haven't mentioned: "Sturgis", wish I was there, maybe next year, Here's a Webcam view ...HD's new V-Rod, marketing to a new breed... how hot it STILL is in the Northeast!.. and it's too hot for the flowers even, the dahlias are drooping...Nuremburg Community Players one-act comedy dinner/ theater is this weekend, and I can always guarantee they'll be entertaining! What talent! The following Saturday the 18th is our church's town social, a good time with good food, good music.... Since Justy's driving there's new, good music in the car, yippee! Hey! I don't have to drive her to guitar lesson anymore! Yay! She can drive herself!...I'm thinking I got lotsa photos I gotta sort thru and create web pages for...I'm a wonderin' what hacker's trying to break-in to my pc, I keep getting hits on my firewall, better contact their server....Frank & Michelle's new home is coming along BEAUTIFULLY! A wonderful couple!..Meem is in my prayers daily...and many others....I am so thankful for my health and my mobility, too many things we take for granted too easily...."Stan the Man", Jamie who wanted to ride a Harley....Did I cover everything?.....Never!....: )
August 7, 2001..My first poker run, I get a lousy hand but an opportunity to make new bike friends...Thanks for inviting us along, Ted & Wilky...We had fun!
A surprise that "Hocus Pocus" is playing at the poker run destination, they are SOOO Good! Doing all the best classic rock, They really rock! Here's a photo, and if ya can't see our buddy Dave, he stood up on this one between beats!..hehe...Silly Dave B.!...
August 6, 2001...Happy 17th B-day to Brooke, gosh, time's flying!
August 4, 2001..a benefit corn roast for "Stan the Man", a nine year-old who has cerebral palsy but doesn't let it get him down!..lotsa nice bikes and a nice ride...good food and some *blibbling*....(just a little)
August 3, 2001
...Two happy girls! J passes her test...Yay! (I think) and mom won't be pestered for driving lessons or rides to & fro..Yippee!....Way to go Justy! nice parallelling...hehe
...Great Show on the Learning Channel! Who would have thought! .."Women on Bikes"...really acurate view point, What an awesome group of women!...this documentary follows them after Sturgis, on the road...and Sunday evening 8:00 pm something called "Born to be Wild" guess what that's about?? brmmm! br-r-mmm!...
Photos like this are my favorite, it'll take awhile to load, but I think it's worth it--this was taken at Delaware, while Dave & I rode down on our bikes, a quick run to the store on my bike and this was the gorgeous sunset when I came out, lucky I had a camera!
August 2, 2001...another year-- another *blibble* celebrating Wendy's journey over the hill, and I'm trudging right along behind her...hehe...Happy! Happy..! Did I say, "trudging??!" I meant "riding my harley up that hill, and riding down's just as fun!" :
August 1, 2001...A nice afternoon ride, on a beautiful, hot summery day! The kids "huckleberry-finnin'" sure had the right idea in the river!
July 31, 2001...Today we get our long overdue work newsletter, "Off the Cuff", (we make uniform shirts, remember?) hehe, anyways, while everybody's buzzin' about the CEO and President changes, I can't help but chuckle at the little news item in the corner, -Elbeco in the News! "The New York Times, July 4, 2001 front page photo shows war criminal Slobodon Milosevic being guarded by two United Nations Guards proudly wearing Elbeco Duty Plus 2213 shirts!"...Sheesh! Now how do ya like that?? smartly dressed prison guards...and we dressed 'em!...does anyone except my co-workers, ever notice uniform shirts? and does anyone else know what epaulettes are?...I just had to chuckle....As for the other issues, panic when there's reason to, not before, ya can't change destiny, or can you?...
Oh my! Tomorrow's August...
How sad about Leon Wilkenson, Lynyrd Skynyrd's one and only bass player with all the hats, he was only 49 years old..how sad, now he will join the others in RocknRoll heaven....
July 30, 2001...Happy B-day to Brad...
A free day off work---which I NEVER get unless it's a holiday, and what am I doing?? Cleaning! Sheesh! Doesn't seem fair...oh well, when everything's in it's place, I'm less psychotic, right family??? hehe, so...back to it..
Now I know what goes on here all day---those thousands of birds flocking? they're trying to figure out how to break-in to Mr. D's blueberry house, that's what!!...
July 29, 2001..."Legally Blonde" was a cute movie, we laughed at the light hearted humor, a few too many parallels here and there and I wondered how the conversation on the way home went with that certain couple...a very cute movie, okay for a light hearted laugh but waitable for the video, this Yale/Harvard thing got my attention....and you know I don't have patience...
Which by the way, I have finally got to sorting through these pictures of the recent charity run for Erick Macker, It's not ready but I couldn't wait to share this great main page photo, what a great kid! Way to go Erick, what courage and strength!
July, 28, 2001..Oops, too late, I forgot to mention the car wash our youth group's having at the church, oh well, gotta wash your own....
July 27, 2001..Okay, I'm all over with that, started taking my vitamins with iron, a few other changes, and an early quit from work and I'm just peachy! ..But how'd this motorcycle with a sidecar get up there??? I took this photo at classic HD in Reading, They told me that Marion White delivered newspapers with this bike!! now it's on the roof! I just had to take a pic! she's such an inspiring woman, and was as sweet & kind as you might suspect...She's missed by many...
July 26, 2001..Gee, I'm really feeling rejected, dejected and slightly anemic.....I stop off to donate blood after work and it turns out my iron count is too low,...: ( ..Until they told me I was feeling my usual perky self, now I DO feel lousy!...oh well better start the liver & onions and spinach for supper....YUK!..well at least I like Wheaties and broccoli...boo hoo, what a bad feeling when you're turned down to give blood...oh well better luck next blood drive...(I just did give a pint 8 weeks ago--Sheesh!) GIVE BLOOD! It's a good thing!
Channel surfing I happen upon "Harry & the Hendersons"..What a wonderful, sweet, funny and yet sad movie, I love it, only that really sad part makes me cry everytime..."Go Away! We don't want you anymore!" and yet they love him dearly...*sniffle*....but of course there's always a happy ending..afterall it's the movies!! (Oops! Did I give it away??) ....Speaking of movies, I really want to see "Legally Blonde"...maybe this weekend...
July 25, 2001..."If I hear one more comment about the heat~~~~~~!!!!" *kidding!*...ya just can't help it, this sticky, hot sweaty weather is makin' us all abit delirious.
Riding home on my two-wheeler (hehe) today, I just couldn't help but go a little slower, enjoying the gentle breeze, the sights and sounds,... hey! there's a photographer taking a photo of the temperature at the bank, it has to be 90+, oops my light's changing, no time to look, over the heights hill there's this construction sign FOREVER! and still no construction--they're gonna surprise us one of these days and really be working! They even had a flagman sign today!...the smell of huckleberries as I cross over the mountain by the water dams where they are just now ripening, that musky swampy smell brought out by this humid weather, peat moss, it smells good!...coming by the overlook, it's so hazy--it appears foggy, I can only see the tips of the trees peaking out, I peek over my amber glasses, hmmm, it's grayer than it looks behind these bright shades. Closer to home, I'm thinking, "This is great!, Why don't I keep on riding?".. I sure wanted to, just then the first drops fell on my windshield--they said we'd finally get much needed rain and it's on the way! I made the turn at the bottom of the hill, then turned up my driveway, heading for my garage, yup! it's raining now, steady, getting faster, heavier...the flowers & plants are happy, the lawn is singing, those marigolds I just transplanted, and the sage and thyme I planted are so-o happy!...the blueberries and red raspberries will be sweeter!... so far my driveway hasn't washed away, YET, all's well for now, and I pray for the loved ones not here with me, wishing that they too are safe and sound....amen.

Gotta watch where ya park your bike, no hint of rain in the forecast, We wake up in puddles, now how'd that happen? Only puddles in the whole parking lot! Turns out the "safe" bike parking just outside of our hotel room window, had lovely shrubs and landscaping and the sprinkler system runs during the night! got us all wet! Sheesh!
