Jan 9, 2001...EEks! One brief comment from a early A.M. talk show guest about natural healing and the alkaline imbalances that can occur in our body's has me intrigued! Are we all just sweet n sour?? hehe, Alkaline or Acidity?? This doctor claims the ph level in our systems can be adjusted by stress management and diet, and that we all have the power to heal ourselves naturally....the shifts in these imbalances can pre-dispose us to diseases or conditions, yikes!! when the ph level is screwed up in the pool water, the water turns green real fast!! gotta have that perfect balance....I'm intrigued, are you??
It's hard to find more info on this subject without them trying to sell you something....The Guy I saw was a Dr. T. Mortar, author of a book "Dynamic...something" missed the rest, anybody finds it let me know, I want to read it....
...One might say I have temerity, in that I like riding a motorcycle, but I'd rather think it's a safe, theraputic thing rather than the pursuit of reckless pleasure!
Jan 8, 2001...Happy Anniversy to Barb & Moose!! Elvis's b-day, D Bowie's b-day, and I'll always remember it's Carla's Daddy's b-day....
Jan 7, 2001...Some gifts worked, some didn't...
...the greatest gifts of all; our loves, our health, our talents--- our memories, can't be boughten, can't be won at carnivals for free, takes years to make those memories, don't let them slip away from you & me...
Jan 6, 2001...A Happy New Year and happy faces....
Happy B-day to Chulie!: )
I'm not a regular football fan but I'm rooting for the Eagles tomorrow! Maybe this time they'll pull it off...but then....ya never know...
Can't figure how to use "junket" in a relevent sentence...
We're so very lucky to have those dear in our hearts, have you said "I love you" lately?
Jan 5, 2001...WindowsME or good old Win98??? Jumpin' Jeepers, I'm just perplexed! Not wanting to be woolgathering when I have so many calamities to vaunt about, but ab ovo, like I was saying....WinMe or 98???? Can someone please edify me??
By the way, I got a "word-a-day" calender...hehe, could ya tell?? what archaic asinine words!!Sheesh!
Here's my new page for the upcoming 2001 bike rides, including the ride New Year's Day. Can't wait to fill that page up! : )
YIKES Geocities is acting real strange! Could it have a flu bug and need some rest????
Jan 4, 2001...Well once again I make an unsuccessful attempt to save the Christmas tree at work in honor of the Orthodox Christmas this Sunday, but alas, I guess since the needles are falling it's considered a fire hazard, gee just one more weekend, so far they only took the ornaments and lights off,the tree's still there so maybe that's sort of a compromise...."Happy Christmas Season to the Greek & Russian Orthodox Christians."
Jan 3, 2001...EEks did anyone notice that???? gotta remember the "1"'s!!!!!!1 ..hehe
Jan 2, 2000, er I mean 2001, hehe..."Today is Tuesday....Not Monday,...Today is Tuesday, not Monday, Tomorrow's Wednesday, Don't forget....Got that??..Are ya with the program???"
Okay it wasn't so-o bad for a "back to work after a week off" day, some things change and some things never change :)
January 1, 2001...HAPPY NEW YEAR's DAY!!! from US! to all of you!
Well, it's sorta official, even though our plan didn't work out as we originally intended, the "Polar Bear Riders" have official ridden a motorcycle on the first day of the new year (and the new millienum, according to ME!)..WooHoo!! Call us CRAZY but we all had FUN!! : )...(see the snowball???)the start of a new tradition!
Okay, I'll give away some of the story...We couldn't get my bike out of the driveway--well, Dave would have got it out but he'd never get back up--it was much too snow-covered and slick, but Chopper brought his bike over and we rode up and down the rode on his! What a bunch of nuts! Here's me on Chop's cool looking new bike, I'm working on getting the other pics out soon...: )Stay tuned!
Dec 31, 2000...Well the storm took long in getting here, it came and went & we all survived, now just time to clean up! Gee I'm so disappointed, we only got about four fluffy inches over the existing 2-3, boohoo...I was prepared for a blizzard, hehe, just kidding, I'm glad all is calm now and ready for the cleanup...Now will she start or won't she??
HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVE....LALALA...Y2K Delay, I am of the opinion the true millienum starts TONIGHT! : )
Today's Pap's Birthday, We haven't forgotten....There's Pap watchin over Wendy & Choppie...
Dec 30, 2000...A ghostly image in a derby cover, what the hecks a derby cover?? not to be confused with a dinky or a d-d-d, oh gee..what the heck's that thing called again??? oh yea! "DERBY" Cover...hehe
I met Sandy, "new-owner-of-my-sporty" today (her sporty, hehe) gosh, she & I had so much to talk about, my hugger's got a good, new home! Something ya always wonder about....We were talkin for quite along time, catchin up on stories, refreshing to hear another girl rider talkin!..
Speakin' of girl riders, anybody ever read Stephanie Feld's column in American Iron Magazine, Fringe Element??..She's such a terrible role model! Sheesh! promoting "aggressive" driving, isn't there a national campagne against that? otherwise known as "Road Rage"? Okay, maybe not what her "aggressive" means, but...."rubber-burning, cab-clipping, lane splitting hell-ride" is that how we should be riding?? I call that reckless and dangerous to everyone! She really riles me up! Especially this month's, I'm gonna have to write American Iron a letter.....It was a good theme, which I'm sure the editor's gave her the assignment for, but what a stupid story, I KNOW the empowering feeling riding gives you, her comparisons make me ashamed.....hope I never meet her on the road!....
Okay, I pretty much finished (expect for a few minor glitches) the page of summer rides, any feedback, suggestions? constructive criticism??..hehe.. I can take it, honest...I can't wait to start a new summer of photos! : )
Dec. 29, 2000...After my week of peaceful, quiet vacationing, I finally venture out of my house today, Eeks!!! I forgot there's a huge storm predicted, an upcoming holiday weekend (I almost forgot about that too) and all those "after-Christmas" bargain-seekers were at the mall A-R-R-G-H!!! Everybody's goin' Crazy!!!
Dec. 28, 2000...Gosh, such a shame, the "Paradise Restaurant", formerly the Manheim in Schuylkill Haven on Rt 61 burned down today...How sad, that was becoming a favorite breakfast/meeting spot before a ride...*sigh*...
...Find a coin, make a wish and throw it in a fountain...
There will lie a sea of coins; "Hope" building a mountain,
All those 'wishes, hopes, & dreams',
becomes a treasured deed....
When one collects those coins of hope and gives to one in need : )
Dec. 27, 2000...Well finally I got the pics of our "Can't quite make it to Sturgis this year Trip" to Virginia and hopefully I can catch up with all the other bike trips I've been taking pics of! Gosh lookin at these gets me in the mood to RIDE---! : )
Dec. 26, 2000...*SIGH* to be on vacation.... a few relaxing days off, I'd forgotten what that's like, seems like I'm sorta being invaded with kids, but that's okay, it's their vacation too....Finally the opportunity to just relax, let go, unwind.....MMMMM! Wish it could last, or at least not go too quickly...Only wish my sweeetie were enjoyin ths with me : )
Justine was all excited to go snow boarding, I think she looked pretty cool in my HD rain/snowgear....too bad she came home and said it was overpriced & lousy since their snowboard savy friend deserted them...: ( Here's how she usually looks! hehe just kidding, more like this:ZZZZ-Z-Z!..Snoozin' away, Cindy Cat sure has a comfy spot! : )
Will somebody Puleeeeessse! Sign the new guestbook?? It's looking really lame....
Dec. 25, 2000...It's Christmas morning and the Rumbel house rocks!---,
there's loud, guitar music playing---Justine got a music processor box,
Sounds of nintendo-playing from Carl's room ring------
Mom's in bed, reading a harley book, dreamin' of spring---
Dad's in rockn'roll heaven playin' with Justy's new toy,
AC-DC, Van Halen, Pink Floyd, "Ode to Joy?????"....
All's well in the world, at least for now---
no frozen pipes, broken cars, (except for the plow)
No matter, it's Christmas! Peace & Good Will to all!
Let it snow, Let it snow! (I'm on vacation) WooHoo!...Let the snow fall!!!
Dec. 24, 2000...Happy Christmas Eve to all from the Rumbel's.. Open house at our house! Stop in...: ) that means YOU!..foods on, fresh batch of boilo is REALLY good this year--as always! : ) Welcome!
I just have to mention that I've noticed a strange phenomenon this time of year at the mall, hourdes of men wandering around aimlessly searching, just searching....looking so dazed & confused....so lost...*sigh* (giggles, giggles)...I'm not the only one noticed, the local news station did a report on it, and about women with lists, and lost men with none...
one thing I'll miss, people watching at the mall, this time of year everybody comes out...what an assortment...HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
Dec. 23, 2000...Eeks! Times running out!...Food to make, presents to wrap, presents to BUY--oh no!!!.... the Mall! ARGHH-H!...stay calm, stay calm, still time, 30 hours or so...it's beginning to feel alot like Christmas...the reality of it all....
Everybody wants a White Christmas, and we got it!! and it's not going anywhere soon...good year for our snow plow to finally break, a funny site yesterday, me in Dave's truck pulling the snow plow/jeep with a chain to try & catch it in gear, up & down the hill, up & down, the jeep works the plow breaks, the plows fixed, the engine starts smoking and stops, never to start again, b-r-r! it's cold out too!! single digit temps...double br-r-r!....
Dec. 22, 2000...a little girl lost; even when found is still very lost...prayers that all find their way in the world and find home, wherever that may be... a humbling reminder that all is not always well in the world,... thoughts and prayers to all with troubles & hardships this rejoiceful season... wishes for health, happiness, peaceful harmony for all and their loved ones...a reminder to also count our blessings, especially the smallest....
Many Birthday wishes for Amanda...another Christmas baby...
Dec. 21, 2000...HAPPY Sweet Sixteenth B-day to Justine! and she IS Sweet--! : ) My special Christmas Baby Girl! My two babies sure are growing up! Then & Now!...16 years ago Carl (and Dave & I)got the most extraordinary Christmas present, when we bought Justine home Christmas Eve...
Dec. 19, 2000...Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow....and snowing it is, and it's still snowing and snowing Right Now! Such a pretty snow too, it's beginning to look like Christmas, but gee in Bethlehem there was no snow, and there were palm trees even, hmmmmm, where do ya think "White Christmas" came from?..guess it's the Santa Claus thing..north pole and all that, not exactly the Christmas Story....
Actually on this date 21 years ago, I drove in a snow storm for the very first time and slid into another car around a turn, Darn!...first fender bender...
HEY!! SNOW CREAM!!! Yummy!!..and this a perfect snow for it! : )
Dec. 18, 2000...The warmth of the sun was incredible! I could feel my face glowing, the sunrays so warm on my cheeks. I'm shmiling. I can hear the ocean, I can feel the breeze gently blowing against my face and through my hair....mmmm! such a happy feeling, I look around, I see chrome, everywhere! Unbelievable! Bikes all shapes and sizes lined up in rows, glistening in the sun! The chrome is almost blinding... They're everywhere! One nicer than the next....gosh this is so very cool!!! I look around and my sweetie is smiling too...."Time to hit the road again" he says. So we're off...back on another semi-secluded winding harley road, leading no where in particular....feeling free, as close to flying as one can be yet your wheels are still on the ground; leaning, turning, gliding, flowing....I'm doing that pressing alternate grips thingie that makes you weave ever-so gently but with style~~~.....like a butterfly on the pavement~~swerve, swerve, easy~~swaying~~...(I Love that!).....How good does it get? How better can it be? Not a care in the world, except maybe scanning ahead for a potential hazard---but here there are none, not this place. Nope. All's just perfect here...We pass other bikes, an assortment of biker waves, all having the same meaning, "I know the feeling..." All is well in this world...Suddenly,----- BR-R-R-R-R-RING-G-GGGG!!!!......*poof*...ARGH! the Alarm! Darn! Time to wake up...But I don't want to...Such a perfect dream....*sigh*...Maybe I'll just snooze back for a little longer,...zzz-z-z-z-z---Gee, Gotta face the real world sometime...it must have been watching that video of Bike Week at Daytona influencing my dreams....oh well, can't wait....
Dec. 17, 2000...I sure can see why Mr. D really LOVES His Harley so do I...
(and if it's lowered just an inch or two, maybe I can ride it : )
Dec. 16, 2000...Today starts out a totally stressful "prepare for the holidays" kinda day---(I felt like running away!) To get away from all that, I tag along with Dave to Schaeffer's HD to get work done on his bike tire giving him trouble and after seeing two new gals buying bikes, finding out about the happy new gal owner of my sporty and "soaking" in all the happy-harley enthusiasm going around there, I felt so-o-o much better!! I just sat grinning ear-to-ear while these new bike moments were happening--totally understanding what that felt like...and they were ladies too! WooHoo!! Now I'm all shmiles!!...The new gal owner of my sporty loves that cute bike as much as I did, such a happy story for me to find out. We talked on the phone and hopefully soon we'll meet, especially come riding season : ) all seemed well in the world at least for a little while....
Reflecting, looking back, this year for me, as far as bike riding goes, has been amazing! Back in January, starting Here, progressing to This and here I am Now anxiously awaiting the upcoming riding season! What a year it's been!
Dec. 15, 2000......just click your heels three times and say, "there's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place...." Home is where the heart is---, no matter how the heart lives--, Inside yourself where love is-- that is where you'll find yourself "at home"...
where my thoughts escape me, where my music takes me....not a house, not a place, a feeling inside....
"Every spirit makes it's house; but afterwards the house confines the spirit"...,"Marble floors and gilded walls Can never make a home, But every house where love abides, and Friendship is a guest, Is surely home, and Home-Sweet-Home, ...for there the heart can rest..."...home is everchanging....Come home...
Dec. 14, 2000...Just because you get a new "baby" doesn't mean you should neglect the old...What better to do on a snow day?
..prayers for Meem, prayers for loved ones...
Dec. 13, 2000...There's this lonely sad-faced Schnauzer I heard about sitting at home looking out the window, and today for just a little while I was thinking his sweetie was home with him and they were all smiles together---a real nice thought--- then, lo & behold I see her happy, smiling face at work...oh well, better luck another day, Bill : )
Dec. 12, 2000..EEKS! I'm almost out of my 15,000,000 bytes of free space on geocities! : (
Has anyone noticed we have no "Santa-on-a-Harley" on our Christmas tree at work????
..well, now we do...
I sure hope this wasn't my last ride until spring but ya never know.....: (
Dec. 11, 2000..I've got an empty place in my heart, a missing puzzle piece, an incomplete song, a heart string that's torn, my heart won't rest easy until I'm certain my baby's safe & sound....gotta look to the happy horizon and hope for happy endings, prayers for all to be well....
Dec. 9, 2000...Dave's annual company Christmas Party and we have to drive all the way to Delaware, oh well... Hey! Mike's Famous HD is in the area...: ), so naturally after all the formalities and the socializing is over we head on over there, Gee they have my bike there for $5,000 more bucks than I paid, guess I got a good deal! Of course we had to come home with a little more chrome...You know it figures I would get two knuckleheads and no panhead ornament for the HD christmas promotion....just my luck two knuckleheads :
Dec. 8, 2000...Hey! Look! Mrs. Claus rides her own now! : ) ...and is that Santa winking at Harley Barbie???? :
Just as I am convinced my job as a Mom should be getting easier new challenges surface and more lessons for ME to be learned....My mom was right about many things (ya hear that mom?!) and I didn't say I told you so....or because I said so, or stop jumping on the bed, or running up those steps, and stop making that face or it will get stuck like that....and stop looking at your sister/brother, and clean up your room, when you have a kid of your own you'll understand, again, "BECAUSE I SAID SO!" and play NICE!!
Today commemorates the twentieth anniversary of John Lennon's fatal shooting outside his apartment building,The Dakota, in New York City. Christine Lavin put that tragic event in a poignant song, entitled "The Dakota"....
Dec. 7, 2000..Okay an update for all those nuts with new bikes that are thinking of riding next week...now the forecast has been updated to the 40's and RAIN! Phooey!..and in the meantime maybe 2-3 inches of snow, better get that snowplow on the bike! : )
Last Friday we woke up in "It's a Wonderful Life" with Jimmy Stewart, no not really, but we went to the small town of Shamokin and saw the historical train display put on by the Lower Anthracite Model Railroad Club, when we arrived in town there was a Santa parade, the school bands playing, and Coney Island was the setting right out of the movie! ... check out the train display if you can, on the way home stop at Bader's and admire all the chime clocks, and stop at Cluckers for an ice cream! What a wonderful life...Simple Pleasures! take the time to stop and look...
Here's what I've been doing, thinking about Christmas, got yer tree up yet??? The Hallmark Barbie ornament for this year is dressed like a Harley girl, cool huh?, They must have known! Merry Christmas!
..I'm off to hear NSHS Band/Chorus Christmas Concert...and really catch the holiday mood. Toodles!
Dec. 6, 2000..a few movie rental reviews--but don't take MY word for it...I LOVED "the Patriot", a very good story, real-life history with all the reality kept in not always rosy, "Gladiator" well I can't say fairly because I went in the other room to watch the John Lennon Story, I just couldn't follow all those dark, gory battles, until the plot finally got started, Dave liked it, maybe another day I'll give it a try..."Cider House Rules" I loved that as well, a few controversial subjects but again a heartwarming bit of reality set in the early part of the century, as for "A Clockwork Orange"..hmmm where do I begin? A very artsy-campy strange BIZARRE 70's? British (some nudity--be forewarned) thing with a lesson--I think, hmmm, not sure if I liked it or not, it starts out very disturbing but if ya hang on it kind of grows on ya...like I said don't take my word for it! directed by Stanley Kubrick.......Got a movie suggestion? Leave it on the message board...Seeya!
Dec. 5, 2000...a " a significant
warm-up early next week. Temperatures Tuesday will
hit 50! " WooHoo!! ya know what that means!!? who would have thought in December! Although I recall an extended warmup last year this time, just about when I was getting the bug to learn to ride, remember honda riding (flintstone-style) in January??...okay enough of that, gotta get thinking about christmas decorations, ornaments, gift giving, planning and preparing, making new years resolutions...and keeping them!
Dec. 4, 2000...reflecting, what has been before and what shall become again and where do we go from here....
Dec. 3, 2000...Happy 50th Anniversary to Uncle Joe & Aunt Dolores! Then & Now!...Mam & Pap were there in spirit...
Happy Birthday to Brittany, she's a sweetheart! Happy Birthday to my oldest, dear friend Carla, that I miss often, hope she's enjoying her day! and Happy New Year as our church celebrates a new church year!..many celebrations and many circumstances...always & forever.
Happy B-day to TJ too.
Dec. 2, 2000...An surprise celebration commemorating fifty years together, gosh when Dave & I are married 50 years it will be the year 2029! EEKS...(sounds like a sci-fi movie or maybe an old song...: ) Best wishes to the happy couple and happiness for all...
A thought about a new twenty dollar bill and it's value versus a crumpled, worn, used, ground in dirt, twenty dollar bill having the same value..."Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled and ground into
the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come
our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what
has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value:
dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless
to those who love you. The worth of our lives comes not in what we
do or who we know, but by WHO WE ARE. We are all special - Don't
ever forget it. Count your Blessings, not your problems." Thank you Ann for sending me that...
Dec. 1, 2000...Brr-r-r!! December! I won't get too many pics like this until summer.. *sigh*.. or at least with my new bike in the photo...br-r-r!!
Nov. 30, 2000...What an honor! The National Christmas tree came from little ol' Schuylkill county, Pa!...even though some of us here in the boondocks still fill in the ovals with #2 pencils to vote (hehe) we sure got beauitiful evergreen trees! : )
I wasn't going to mention the election..it's SO OLD! I just have to wonder in this year 2000 if the candidates were simply not Y2K compliant :
Nov. 29, 2000...EEKS! Where'd November go????
Okay I've been asked, what has happened to me, I've disappeared, well ya see it's like this, I got this hair cut and I told her (sorry, Deb) "cut it short so it's just right for the holidays", and it's SHORT! so until I have a good hair day, I'm in hiding...hehe...just kidding---sorta...
Prayers for those I know going through turmoil, there seems to be a black cloud around many people I know and love and I can only pray that the sun shines again soon....
I am happy Jonas is all well and happy as a five year old should be....: )
Nov. 28, 2000..When I had a Sporty in the summer the thing was "how many miles straight through can I go in one trip?", now getting a New Low Rider in the fall/winter,(what torture!) the question seems to be, "just how cold of weather can you ride in?"... mid forties might even seem like a heat wave!:
