April 20, 2000...How sad the anniversary of the Columbine
Tragedy...Did a whole year pass since that tragic day?...an
anniversary, a time to reflect, remember, learn and grow....what
could possibly be in store for us?..we must not waste a second,
tell the ones you love how dear they are, make each moment count,
learn from our past and present...be the best person you can be
and encourage those around you to SOARRRRRRRRR!!!!!!
Maundy Thursday; on the night of his betrayal, Jesus gave his
disciples a new commandment: To love one another as he had loved
them. Keep that always in your heart and live by that and
everything else will fall into place.
April 19, 2000... Sometimes you need to go fast before you
can successfully go slow....
...tonight I did my first night riding! WooHoo! I loved it, at
least on the familar roads, the not-so-familar I had to strain a
little to see but it was fun...I am loving riding more &
more!..I am so happy I have decided to follow through on this
dream, not everyday you can do that; live your dreams.
April 18, 2000...Step in doo doo and your lucky, whoever
figured that out??? I guess livestock farmers & mushroom
growers are the luckiest people in the world!....hmmmm....all I
can say is, when I start the day spilling coffee on myself, the
rest of the day usually goes pretty much the same,
"messy"....Well Rich, I took a chance on yer lucky #'s
we shall see....
I just have to say, lately going by the marquee at the movie
theater, I have seen, "Are you ready to Rumble" and I
chuckled, but today, I go by and I guess they ran short on
letters for the other titles but now it just says, in really
huge, bold letters, one word: "RUMBLE" I just had to
laugh out loud! it got my attention for some reason!
...well Rich yer in trouble now, no lucky lotto #3490....ya
better hide...
April 17, 2000...I made the mistake of going in the post
office for a money order today, and during my (quick) lunch
break. EEKS! I forgot it was the extended April 15th
deadline...Big mistake!...Today, a dreary, chilly, rainy, muddy
puddle kinda day, where's that sunny puddle when I need
it?...they suggest you safely wait out the storm but there are
times when you just have to ride through it and swerve the
hazards along the way. I'm looking for that independence I know I
can attain and some day they'll notice I'm all grown up....but
forever young : )
April 16, 2000...Justine's "thought" for today:
When you ride on the back of a motorcycle and you have to sneeze,
whatever you do, DON'T!...There's just no escaping it, it flys
back in your face (YUK!) and worse yet is when you have a
full-face helmet on...LOL..poor Justine ; )
GREAT NEWS from Boston! ROAD TRIP!! Plans to make, details to
work out....crossing my fingers and saying a prayer.
My forget-me-nots didn't grow yet, hmmmmm? Did they forget???
April 15, 2000...Well-l-l,.. I no longer have a motorcycle
permit.. : ( ..( lower lip pouting thing goin' on here...boo hoo)
...Anyways, I have a real-honest-to-goodness class
"M"=motorcycle license! WOOHOO! hehe, did I fool ya???
Did I? Did I?...Gosh, hard to pull anyone's leg this way but I
did indeed pass! Now all I need is more practice and experience
to back it up, here I come!
April 15, 2000...Happy Birthday to my brother Frank! We
miss you! Hope you have a great one, I know, like me you'll never
be old!!...ummm tax man day too but this year all get two extra
days,(the 17th) if I weren't done I'd be freaking out right now,
I'm just so calm and happy : )
..but then there's the test! YIKES!...just kidding...I'll do my
best, pay attention, and if I need more practice, I'll do it
again. Wish me luck!!
April 14, 2000...I'm wondering if there are any motorcycle
riders who have a nice do-it-yerself lawn & garden, because I
just don't know...my onions & sweet peas should be planted,
my garden pond should be started, leaves are all over the place
(what ya get when you live in da woods), anyways when the sun's
shining and it's sunny is the perfect time for a bike ride---but,
it's also the best time for the garden chores...hmmm...what a
dilema! what to do...
...well I raked some leaves and made a huge pile and a big gust
of wind came---SWOOOOSH!!---and blew a whole pile more where I
just raked! sheesh!! ...a bike ride is more fun! hehe....
Actually, today is a beautiful day for many things!! Sun's
shining, grass is getting greener, life is good!...think I'll go
find a sunny puddle to lie in...
April 13, 2000...A change in command at the workplace sure
creates a BUZZ!... lol...I have to say, love sure is powerful!
Remember that negative, dark cloud co-worker of mine, well these
days he's not insulting me, or anyone else for that matter, he's
walking around with a smile and blushing even, sorta walkin' in
the clouds, (like Mr. Magoo) Well one day I ask him are you
alright? he says, "I'm in love and I'm getting married
soon!" WooHoo! Sure has changed that black cloud! Now he's a
sunny, happy person! Ain't love grand??
April 12, 2000....There's never enough time to do
something right but always enough time to do something wrong...
...I just love this picture of my two babies...Oops! Did I say
that outloud?...After opening night at the High School play,
" Anything Goes "...(umm
Carl isn't Popeye and Justine's not Olive Oil..ake-ke-ke-ke toot!
toot!...)
...Well if you must know, I got one question wrong on my written
test, 98% WooHoo!!...Now for the real test Saturday! Wish me
luck!

.....just ignore that little man behind the curtain.....this
is the great and powerful OZ signing off.......
A mini-parable or is this a fable?: One day, a sweet, wouldn't harm a fly type of gal bought a new, not brandy new, but new to her car. She shined it polished it, made it the best she could do with her capabilities. (being the non-mechanical type) But she tried. It took many hours of her life, making it just the way she wanted it. Well one day, she spotted a brightly colored homing pigeon flying overhead. Now she was weary of pigeons because her grandfather used to say they were trouble, but this pigeon seemed harmless, afterall, it was just flying around seeming to do no harm. Little by little, day by day, she got nearer to the pigeon, before long the pigeon trusted her & she trusted the pigeon. Many times "homer" would hover nearby as she worked on her pride & joy. After many days of inviting her busy friends over to see her polished, shined-up new "baby", her friends took time out to come visit her & to finally see her new prized posession, afterall it was only a car, but it was special to her and her friends appreciated that and knew how much it would mean to her for them to stop by & check it out. Just as all the friends were gathered around, oo-ing and ah-ing, admiring,--- homer flys overhead. I'm not sure what possessed him at that time and moment, (guess we should have seen it coming, from all that bird seed he was eatin'), but anyways, "SPL-A-A-T-T!!!" all over Sweety Gal's work of art, everyone stepped back in astonishment and amazement and said, "You should never trust a pigeon flying overhead." The End.
Well, Taxes are signed, sealed, *almost*
delivered...WHEW! Two out of three ain't bad, tomorrow they'll be
on their way. YAY!...nothin' like down to the wire.
April 10, 2000...Happy B-day to Paul!...
April 9, 2000...EEKS!! They said it might happen, and I
didn't believe it! Yesterday afternoon it was almost 70 degrees,
sunny, and hot even, then the wind, rain and a cold front came
through, and this morning there is more than five inches of wet
snow on the ground [and it's still snowing & blowing!]
SURPRISE!!...
Even when we expect something or are told it may happen, we're
still quite surprised to have the unexpected unexpected to
happen! Did I repeat myself, myself?..hehehehe..
April 8, 2000...Well I didn't plop, didn't stall, and had
fun, so for the first actual "on the bike" lesson with
the Motorcycle Safety Program, I guess I'm doing
alright...YAY!!..and am I ever glad I had that raingear!! It
Poured halfway through the class! The winds were so nasty four
parked bikes fell over!
After tax season and hopefully when life gets a little less
hectic (when will that be?..hmmm?...) I plan to make alot of
changes on this page, maybe I'll "Finally" fix the
early photos, I plan to make a Biker Front page just to organize
all the new and expanding bike stuff, lets hope I do get to that
soon..hehe!..then there's the garden to plant, the water pond to
get going for the season, grass to mow, bike roads to explore,
(hehe), outdoor projects, unfinished projects, projects in
general...Whew! I'm getting tired!...Seeya next year! *winks*
April 7, 2000...Great Job NSHS "Anything
Goes"..amazing so much talent..and Carl gets his laugh with
a line as simple as, "Yes, Sir!"...Justine your smile
was contagious!..We're very proud of you both!
April 6, 2000...Justine's thought for today,"You
don't realize how much need to talk in a day until you lose
your voice."hmmmmm..a thought to ponder about many
things...
..What do you think are the odds of the two hair blowdryers we
have in this family, conking out on the same day?..Gosh having
two, I thought we were covered! Well it happened!....Guess we're
all destined to have a bad hair day today...
..Meanwhile, I went during lunch to Kmart to buy another
hairdryer, and the sweetest white-haired gentlemen working at the
checkout line was so chipper and cheery, it made me smile. I was
smiling all day! He reminded me that my (usually embarrassing)
humming is what Snow White did...and she did didn't she??? She
hummed!..he also commented that he hoped it didn't make him a
dwarf, lol..but anyways how nice for someone to give a smile,
what a special gift!
April 5, 2000...I Had my first in classroom bike riding
safety course, It was fun! Ridin' that imaginary dream bike like
he told us to! hehe... the actual outdoor riding is scheduled for
Saturday, and so are thunderstorms! Darn! Guess I better go out
and buy the proper raingear, just in case, ya gotta be prepared!
April 4, 2000...I just gotta say, how about that Cop in
Scranton (I think) who was bad mouthing the mayor and his wife
and it was broadcast over the police cars 911 emergency
frequency? Do you think he learned his lesson about gossiping?...
Here's a thought...All these years do ya think rather than being
extremely near-sighted and partially senile, Do ya think Mr.
Magoo just might have been in love??? think about it, walkin
around in a complete daze, not seein the world around him?? ya
just gotta wonder...poor Mr. Magoo! misunderstood all these
years....
I just wanna know...Did anybody chuckle when they clicked on the
midi for April 1st thoughts? even just a little?? : ) gotta
smile, gotta laugh, gotta be happy no matter what, ya just gotta
be.....
Here's my latest pics.
April 3, 2000...I'll be back when I recover from losing
that one hour of sleep, in the meantime, post a msg on the
message board or sign the guestbook, sign the guestbook, sign the
guestbook...."You are becoming very sleepy....You're eyes
are becoming heavy, You have an unexplained impulse to sign
Diane's Guestbook....hehe"
April 2, 2000...Just when I thought things might get
better, they've gotten worse....
Just how far can I bend before I break?...When you take your
tough armor off that's when you get attacked. "OUCH!"
I'm wounded but I'm not dead yet, About parenting and being a
mother, there's no manual, no answers, no fool-proof plan, guess
I'm wingin' it...does it show?
April 1, 2000...Happy April Fool's Day....gosh my kinda
celebrating/no one to play jokes with though, Darn!...Don't
Forget Clocks ahead tonight!...Hey! somebody send me a funny jpg
i can link to for today, k? appropriate of course. thanx! send to
DiannesWorld I'm going out
riding now, I'll check later..Bye!!!...(no replies! darn! where's
all my funny friends??)
Today I have learned, that if you must chew gum while riding a
motorcycle, (especially right at the start of dusk--when the bugs
get really bad) be sure to keep your mouth closed at all times!
55 miles logged and not a single stall, plop, wreck or anything
but Fun! I got some neat pics of some other bikes at a pit stop,
watch for them.
I just have to share this passing thought, I'm here searching for
some possible "biker appropriate" midi files, aside
from the usual, "Born to be Wild" a few names got my
attention; "Another One Bites the Dust","Dazed
& Confused", "Comfortably Numb", "Crash
into Me", and then there's this one: not like this is "My Theme" or
anything...hehe.
March 31, 2000...Finally Friday!! I really hate to wish
time away--it is so very precious, but when you have a week like
the one I just had...TGIF!!! I must concentrate real hard on good
times and sweet memories of wonderful days to keep those black
clouds from lingering....mmmm-m-m I think it's working...Calgon,
pearberry bubbles, a few candles, epsom salts, & soft
relaxing music take me awayyyyyy!!!.... Moonlight Sonata...Spiritual Therapy
March 30, 2000...Gosh, now Carl's workin' on his dirt bike
even! It's like bike fever around here!! Everybody's gettin in
the mood!So-o-ooo, Who wants to be a
biker-naire???!!..hehe... a Yamaha dirt bike sounds like a
chainsaw....or is Dave tunin' up the chain saw?? hehe
Don't ya think Harley Barbie & Ken look
much happier out of the box?
...and I just love this picture, not very often I see
this side of Carl....another photo of happy Justine & her new guitar.
March 30, 2000...A few things I have learned in the past
few days...1)an unexpected gift may not be a gift at all, maybe
something really bad!! So beware!!..2)when you ride a bike for a
few hours your upper arms become really sore the next
day..."really" sore!...3)I really like Grapenut O's for
a healthy snack...YUM! 4) as much as I am tempted to be kind to
everyone, there are just some people you can't say something nice
to!! When will I ever learn that one??? I keep
forgetting...5)"honda" parts are not necessarily any
cheaper than "harley" parts....6) you can teach your
children by example and discipline but you can't make them be
anything but themselves...77)in spite of all the troubles you may
have, if you love and feel loved anything is possible....
March 29, 2000...Eeeks! another deadline! the Census
people want their info by April 1st!! "It's The Law!"
just when I thought I could rest! and then there's still taxes!
double eeks!...but there's two extra days this year, oh no guess
I too, am a procrastinator.....Shudder!...It's not fair! how come
most everybody I know got a three page census survey, and I get
37 pages!! no fair!
I have to love the biking frenzy beginning...Chop gets a bike
(Chopper=bike, hehe) Neil's getting his bike work done, Rich is
getting the itch...We're havin soooo much fun, hope my parts are
in by the weekend and maybe if I'm a good girl the mechanic will
get workin on it lickety split...hehe
March 28, 2000....What would procrastinators do if there
were no deadlines? muddle through a pointless no end in sight
existence?...nothing to put off until tomorrow??
just when you think the day is going well, as planned, hoped for,
you check the mail and bad news....life throws you a CURVE, an
opportunity to learn....hmmmmm...remember this?
..if I were to pray out loud I might ask God to help me to see
the path he has chosen for me, and to strengthen me with
discipline to follow that path...
and just what is your ray of sunshine?? : )
March 27, 2000..Happy B-day to Tony! Don't party too loud!
Y'all hear down thar!..(hehe) we miss you Tony!
A windy March day; soft chiming sounds in the distance reliving
memories of days passed, leaves frolic in the wind, dancing a
private dance to the music no one else hears, wind whistles
through the
trees.......woooossssssssshhhhhh-hh!!!!!!~~~~~~~~~forsythia,
lilacs, redbud, pussy willows, crocus, and daffodils begin to
brighten the post-winter baren landscape....mmmm...smells like
SPRING!
March 26, 2000...After 61 successful miles, up down
rolling hills, occasional gravel, Rt 11 on a busy Sunday, a truck
stopped in the middle of the road on a blind turn, all that, and
about 2 miles from home I slipped up, didn't pull out on an
uphill turn from a stop sign properly, made too wide a turn and
hit the bank! EEKS!"Gosh was my face RED!!!!" I'm ok,
the bike's not, but is fixable ($$$$$$)anyways.....gosh darn, I
forgot to visualize myself making a successful recovery from
losing control, Darn! instead I saw myself goin' into the bank,
and I think I even said it. Gotta Visualize it, Believe it, and
make sure it really happens!
March 25, 2000...Here it is, the page with friends bikes,
as promised, send me photos, I need more!Bikes
Wow! what an eventful day! Started out at beautiful Lebanon
Valley College with alot of really smart kids competing in the
20th annual"quiz bowl" what an experience, me and all
these smart teenagers...a good experience for all, even if they
didn't bring home a trophy. Good Job guys & gals!
In a nutshell: My first biking roadside breakdown,(Gosh, maybe I
do need a cell phone...hmmm, who should I call????) rescue,
mysterious recovery, (hehe) had an almost perfect run! (one stall
at a stop sign--DARN!) Actually rode with a possee, three bikes!
Woohoo!!, I left Dave in my dust..a little, got caught in the
rain storm,(I'm the only one saw the huge warning lightning
bolt!),rain stings on your cheeks (i knew that, but now I had to
keep my eyes open and see the road), rain is colder when you go
faster, and farings or helmet shields don't have wipers. maybe
they should....thats all for a another 23 miles logged...I loved
it!!! I think I'm really gettin there!!
March 24, 2000...A lovely scenic jigsaw puzzle ---one lost
piece spoils the whole beautiful picture.... Today more glorious
weather and yet a mixed up day--all out of sorts some how, like
no matter how hard you try & concentrate your thoughts
scatter somewhere else.....somewhere in the clouds, somewhere in
another time zone, everywhere but where your feet are planted on
the ground.....Then, the other way to look at it is," Oh how
happy when you find that missing piece of the puzzle!"...
and every once in awhile you really DO find it!
Well another 23 miles on the bike and not a single PLOP! not one!
so i guess that's a good thing for today! ..So much to remember,
clutch, gears, rpm's, speedometer, brakes (front=hand back=foot)
leaning, rolling the throttle, friction zone, SIPDE
thinking...hehe..but I'm lovin it!! It's so thrilling, went 55
MPH again, for quite a stretch and moved up to bigger, busier
roads, "Brandonville!" LOL!
March 23, 2000...A b-e-a-u-T-I-f-u-l Day and I get done
work early! mmmm! The sky was so blue, the clouds fluffy, the
sun's rays felt warm on my face, spring turkeys gobbling, smells
of spring in the air, finally I can hang my laundry out on the
line, simple pleasures, the smell of air dried sheets, spring
blossoms... I'm raking leaves away from my crocuses,[thats right
my crocus are blooming and a few daffodils, soon the tulips, and
hyacinths].... drifting, dreaming, happy thoughts....making
plans, today plans, tomorrow plans, forever plans. Many airplanes
seemed to be flying overhead on such a clear day, I couldn't help
wondering, who was going where? and why? who was up there way in
the sky...what were their plans? were they flying somewhere to
work, away from family and loved ones? or maybe flying to the
ones they loved. Just a thinking kind of day, quiet, me &
those sounds of nature, the birds, geese flying overhead, spring
gobblers and occasionally those airplanes..."I'm leavin' on a jetplane..." came to mind, a bittersweet song.... a prayer for safe
traveling and a safe return home to loved ones...Someone dear to
me is in Washington DC taking in the early glorious cherry
blossoms, May God be with them.
Early evening, Dave and I went out riding. I actually pulled in
and got fuel! Woohoo! Drove through the town of Ringtown!
hehe...(really big town) 22 miles logged this time and I went up
to 55mph! practice, practice.... Ah heck! I thought I didn't plop
this time but Dave reminded me that I tried to start up at the
gas pumps and forgot it was in gear--well it went to take off, I
braked, forgot the clutch, stalled, and yes, "I sort of
plopped!"darn, right there at the pumps..hehe, well I
couldn't get the bike up too quickly,[heavy] I was wedged between
the bike & the pumps, Dave rescues me, while this guy pulls
behind me starts pumping gas as I'm hanging there, all the while
watchin, not offering any assistance, sheesh! anyway I survived,
me & my ego intact! : )
March 22, 2000...After two days off from work, what do ya
think many of my co-workers thought??? They thought I wrecked
with the bike! Sheesh! Where's the faith in my ability to
ride??...keep in mind I'm laughing my butt off typing this, but
I'm not sure whether to be flattered for the concern or annoyed
at the lack of faith...hmmmmmmm...lol!
Just gotta remind everyone---April 7 & 8th North Schuylkill
Theater Arts is performing the musical, "Anything
Goes". Carl & Justine both have chorus parts, Justine
tapdancing & singing and Carl singing and dancing, We have
tickets, so if ya want any let me know, I hear it's coming along
pretty good. Seeya at the show!!
March 21, 2000...Memories; frozen moments in
time...Photographs; our memories preserved in time. Make a Kodak
moment!...ya know it's not just great photographs with everyone
"looking good" on their best behavior, it's the
memories that are captured, the feelings, emotions....the whole
big picture in the scheme of things.
Justine's starting a new web page, it's looking pretty cool if ya
like classic rock, check it out here!
March 20, 2000...Ever have one of those "Perfect
10!" Days???, even if you're not sure why, just seems like a
perfect day...
March 19, 2000...Happy Day! Smile everyone!
March 18, 2000...Happy B-day to Chop today! Even though
we're back to freezing temps again, a sure sign that spring
(& summer!) is just around the corner is when the
Tasty-Freeze opens for the season...and THEY'RE OPEN! Have you
had your first soft ice cream cone of the season yet? YUM!
I have a gripe, how come they don't make factory Harley Davidson
Bike Horns that sound like a Harley should? How come? of all the
cool dude things on a HD, the horn sounds sooo wimpy, even the
new air horns sound too high pitched and shrill for a Harley!
and another thing, while I was at the Harley Shop, I tried on
sunglasses, don't ya hate those tags that hang in the middle of
yer nose? Ya can't really see how they're gonna look with that
thing blocking yer view and yer face! anybody else have that
peeve?
