| Magneto Real Name: Magnus Mutant Ability: Magneto controls the magnetic fields of all objects. Group Identification: None Current Status: Deceased Magneto is the greatest Mutant threat to Professor X and the world. A victim of Nazi concentration camps, Magnus vowled to not let humanity do to mutants what the Nazis did to the Jews. Magneto formed a Brotherhood of Evil Muntants and began to terrorize humanity. Xavier and the X-men have stopped him on several occasions, but Magnus continues his attempts to destroy humanity for the good of muntants. Magneto eventually attempted to retire to Asteroid M, his home in space, feeling that his cause was a failed one. But a group of muntants, who later became the Acolytes, convinced Magneto to take his cause up again. Magneto again fought humanity, formulating a plot to cripple the world with nuclear weapons. The X-Men stopped him, and Magneto chose to stay in the exploding space station instead of retreat with the X-Men. Magneto was saved by one of the Acolytes, turned up a short time later, and waged a war on the X-Men. He crippled the X-Men, and severely injured X-Man Wolverine. Xavier attacked Magneto as a result, wiping the mind of the evil mutant. Magneto's mindless, living body was taken to the new Asteroid Avalon, and was watched over by his Acolytes. Soon after, Avalon was destroyed in a battle between Exodus and Holacost, and Magneto was put in an escape pod sent to earth. The pod was found by a former Brotherhood Member, Astria (I think thats her name, I will check). Astria restored Magneto's mind and made a clone of him, seeking vengance at a later date. Magneto awoke and knew nothing of the plot against him, and resumed his terrorizing of the earth. Magneto attempted to disrupt the magnetic field of the Earth, but Astria's clone, Joseph, stopped him. Magneto was granted Presidency of the mutant nation of Genosha in an attempt by the world leaders to stay the tyrannts hand. Magneto ruled Genosha for several years, and after a short time, kidnapped Professor X, attempting to draw the X-Men to Genosha to destroy them. The X-Men came, and were able to defeat Magneto. Magneto was severely injured in the conflict, and was recovering in Genosha. He was apparently killed when Giant Sentinels eraticated Genosha. Magneto has a habit of escaping death though, and it is almost certain he will return to plague the world in the future. |
