| Professor X Real Name: Charles Xavier Mutant Ability: Professor X is the most powerful telepath in the world, he is able to control others thoughts and commuinicate with the power of his mind. Group Identification: The X-Men (Leader) Current Status: Active Bound to a wheelchair for most of his adult life, Professor X has overcome many trials to do the right thing for his people. Xavier has a dream that mutants and humans will someday co-exist in peace. So he founded a school for mutants such as himself and trained them to defend the world against those who would ruin his dream of peace. Over the years, violence and hate against Mutants rose to an all time high. Professor X's one time friend, Magneto has saught to break his dream for years. He never resorted to using his powers against anyone unless he absolutely had to, but when Magneto nearly killed Wolverine, Professor X used his awesome power to wipe Magneto's mind. It wasn't until a few years later that the impact of his actions would be felt the world over. Xavier's mind had been corrupted by Magneto's evil, and when Mutant violence escalated to an all time high, Xavier's mind was taken over by Magneto's evil, and he turned into the all-powerful Onslaught. Onslaught used the powers of Xavier and Magneto combined to try to end the existance of humanity. Thanks to the Avenger Thor, Xavier was freed from the grasp of Onslaught, and togather, with the combined efforts of The X-Men, The Fantastic Four, The Avengers, and many others, defeated Onslaught. As a result of Onslaught, Professor X lost his powers. For several years, Xavier was left powerless and imprisoned by the Government. Thanks to a living Cerebro, Professor X regained his powers, and assumed the mantle of leader of the X-Men once more. Xavier again lead the X-Men in thier quest for peace, fighting the likes of Apocolypse and a restored Magneto, but Xavier had a dark spot on his past that was comming back to haunt him. Xavier's twin sister, Cassandra Nova, invaded the X-Mansion and took over his body. Thanks to the efforts of Phoenix, Xaviers mind was kept intact long enough to return him to his body, and due to the power of the muntant Xorn, his crippled back was healed. Professor X currently is back with the New X-men team. |
