MISCELLANEOUS PAPERWORK

Once you move into your house, you will be required to submit paperwork to Housing.  One form is for your utility readings.  This ensures that you pay only what you use.  You will review the readings with your landlord then submit the sheet to Housing.

You will also complete a checklist with your landlord on the condition of the house.  As with any rental, you will inspect for damage and annotate it on the checklist so that you are not liable for it.  Painting is much more expensive in Italy than in the U.S., so "minor" scratches, etc. are really not so minor and can cost a large sum of money.  Ensure that you annotate all damage.  Also ensure that the movers from the warehouse and for your household goods do not damage the house.  You should call your landlord and have him/her present when the movers arrive.  Your landlord can settle any claims directly with housing if necessary.
