PUTTING A HOLD ON THE HOUSE

This is very simple.  Just tell Housing that you want to put a hold on the house.  This gives you two working days to decide whether you really want the house or not.  The hold is automatically released after that time.  If you inform housing that you definitely want the house, then the hold (now called a "contract hold") will remain in effect until you complete your lease negotiations and move in.

If you find a house that is "perfect", go ahead and put it on hold.  This will give you some time to consider it while protecting it from others.  Remember not to be too eager though.  What appears perfect today may not be all that great after you've looked at several other houses.
