Wipeout
Review
Wipeout 64 is probably the fastest game I have seen for the N64 apart from the Star Wars Episode 1 Racer game.
In it the object of the game as you would expect in any racing game is to win all the races and come in at least
first, second or third in each round. Of course to get all the nifty extras such as hidden courses and ships
you have to do that little bit more.
There is a nice selection of racing speed to choose from as well, ranging from slow to fast depending on
your skill level.
On top of which Wipeout is another game that takes advantage of the four player mode offered by the N64,
this has some good points as well as bad.
Good Points
A lot of fun in two player mode if you and a friend are competent at the game.
Bad Points
In three or four player mode all the scenery disappears leaving you to race along a
racecourse with no scenery what so ever. This can be extremely disorienting if you are used to the course and is a bit of a let down.
After all in Goldeneye do we see doors and windows disappear out of sight in four player mode.
Wipeout also includes weapons as it did in the first version released on the playstation. However in this version each craft
has its own special weapon as well as all the usual ones that can be collected along the way making it even more
interesting to play.
And if that isn't enough for you there is also the added bonus of far more control with this version of Wipeout
than the one's on the playstation, all thanks to the N64's analogue control stick.
