Heroes of Might and Magic 5 Goodies
After installing the Heroes of Might and Magic 5 public beta, I decided to poke around with the files. I managed to extract the data.pak file which is 700mb+ and decided to post some of my findings. As with any beta, just because the info below is included doesn't mean it will make it into the final product.
Instructions for extracting the HoMMV data.pak file:
1. Open WinRAR and browse to C:\Program Files\Nival Interactive\Heroes of Might and Magic V\data\
2. Open data.pak
3. Extract files someplace. (takes a few minutes)
To view some of the texture map images, get IrfanView and install the plugin pack.
Use IrfanView to open any .dds file you find in the folder where you extracted data.pak. They are texture map files, so they'll look like jigsaw puzzles, but neat nonetheless. Also, you can browse into the Creatures folder and see lists of creatures via filenames, dwellings, buildings, etc.
