Barnabas was a carpenter by trade, building the Maria Furnace Works in Hamiltonban Township, Adams Co., and the Caledonia Iron Works in Franklin Co. He also owned and cultivated a farm in Liberty Township, Adams Co., PA. Barnabas was a Deacon of the Lutheran Church several times and was a practicing Republican. In 1869 he moved to Fairfield, Adams Co., PA where he resided until his death. He was buried in Union Cemetery, Fairfield, PA.
