Jacob came to America with his parents on board the ship William from Amsterdam to Philadelphia on 31 October 1737. Jacob joined Braddock's disastrous campaign against Fort Duquesne in 1755 during the French and Indian War as a teamster and was never heard of again. It is believed that he died in the defeat in western Pennsylvania.
