Christina is apparently the daughter of George MERKEL and Maria Christina HILL. This family had dealings with the SHEARERs including her husband Peter SHEARER. Several sources claim that she was the sister of General Joseph MARKLE, son of George's brother Casper, who ran for Governor of Pennsylvania in the 1840s, but he had no identified sister by this name. Another source, said that the daughter of George MERKEL married Benjamin POTT but she would have been 3-7 years older than him and I have seen no documentation of such a marriage. Christina was buried with her second husband at Stenger Hill.
