John came to America before 1750; he may have come on the ship Lydia in 1741; the Loyal Judith in 1742; the Two Brothers in 1747; or the Ranier in 1749 as all had passengers with some form of this name. John and his family moved from Philadelphia to Tannersville, Northampton (now Monroe) Co., PA in 1750 where he operated an inn. John, his wife, his eldest son and his wife and child were killed by seven Indians from the Erie country.
