By 1653 Christian and his family had moved to Mutterstadt, the Palantine, Germany from France as they were Huguenots and fleeing persecution. In April 1675 they departed from Amsterdam and sailed to Esopus, Ulster Co., NY via London, Boston, and New York, arriving in July. Christian was one of the twelve founding patentees of New Paltz, Ulster Co., NY. He was nicknamed the "Grandfather of New Paltz".

It is likely that Salome or Sarah was the daughter of Mark WORST. There was a Mark WORST who was active in Londonderry Township, Dauphin Co., PA - the area where here husband's family lived. A Mark WORST also died in the area of Adams Co. where her brothers moved to from "Lebanon Co., PA", which was originally formed from parts of Dauphin and Lancaster counties.
