Salome had been married once before she married Heinrich ZIMMERMAN. Salome and Heinrich planned to leave Switzerland for Pennsylvania when they heard that friends intended to kidnap Salome to keep the young family in Switzerland. They attempted to escape in a small boat across Lake Luzerne but were ambushed by hussars. They escaped in the boat when Salome struck a hussar pursuing Heinrich with a boat oar. The family arrived in Germantown, PA in 1706 and soon moved on to Lancaster Co., PA.
