| (This is a letter that was emailed to the Webpage from Commissioner Langston. It is a must read for all FSL Players) This letter is entitles, "Commissioner Langston's Last Supper." April 29, 2005 One last letter to all, Hello everyone and happy Softball Season! May 15th marks the official opening day of the 13th Annual Foodmaster Softball Season. I would like to mention a couple of items and/or changes this year as the league has taken a new approach to the 2005 Season. First and foremost I would like to extend a warm welcome to the new team entering the FSL this year (Revere III or New Guys) to replace the once prominent but now folded Lynn Team. Welcome guys! Also I would like to say goodbye to the aforementioned Lynn team as they will be missed as one of the great teams of the Foodmaster Softball League. Some of the players will still be recognized as those players that wished to continue their playing days will be seen on other FSL teams. Second, I wanted to let everyone know that I have loosened the stranglehold that I have held for the past 12 years as Commissioner of the FSL and allowed a Committee of managers dictate the rules and operation of the FSL. This year will mark the first year in the FSL that a Tri-Commissionership will be in place. Joseph Quinn, Manager of the Revere Team, Adam Trukas, Manager of the Salem II Team and Myself, Brian Langston, Manager of the Back-2-Back Champion Big Sticks will all make decisions regarding needs for the FSL. That includes all duties, issues, general well being of the league and its players. Hopefully this Committee of coaches will satisfy everybodys problems/issues and we can all get along and come to agreements based on reasoning. Cuz, quite frankly Im tired of being everyones target of hatred. Im too sensitive for that stuff. Third, The season will begin on May 15th at 9:30 down at the ol ballfield. The schedule I made has been posted on the FSL website and should be viewed by all. I have done my commissioner duties in getting us a permit for the Beachmont field as well as getting Kevin Paris back to umpire our fine league. I hope everyone has a great year, injury free and enjoys plying in the FSL for our 13th season. I know that I will as I always do! Lastly, I would like to thank everybody for being in the league and contributing to its success. It was very hard for me to semi-step down this year as the Omniscient Commissioner Czar of the Foodmaster Softball League. I enjoy being the sole Commish and will continue to cherish the moments I have shared with everyone during my time as the Commissioner of the FSL. After all its been 12 successful years of this league and I am very proud that it has continued on this long. I never would have thought that when I was 17 that this league would be around when I was 30. Considering that I quit Foodmaster over 5 years ago its impressive that everyone has stayed together to make this league happen year in and year out. I owe the success of the league to everyone that shows up every week. So thank you all for doing what you all do to make me proud to be involved with a great group of guys, who have passion and respect for the FSL. So with all that being said I will now say goodbye for the last time as the Sole-Commissioner of the Foodmaster Softball League and slowly begin to pass the torch along to Joe Quinn and Adam Trukas, both of whom I respect and know will do their best to carry on what I started in 1993! Thanks again everyone! Respectfully, Brian Langston FSL Commissioner and 4X FSL Champion Hopefully to be crowned the Godfather like Luke Wilson from Old School FSL PAST CHAMPIONS 2004 - Big Sticks 2003 - Big Sticks 2002 - Revere 2 2001 - Revere 2000 - Revere 1999 - Salem 2 1998 - Salem Street 1997 - Salem Street 1996 - Salem Street 1995 - Beacon Street 1994 - Salem Street 1993 - Beacon Street |
