2002 Post

A wise man once said, "We will three-peat!"  That same man also said that  "you have to talk trash as much as possible, cuz you never know when its  gonna come back and slap you in the face!" -that wise man was me, the  Commish, Father Bri, whatever you want to call me.  So far, my trash talking  has held up.  My boys and I from Revere are the current 2X,2X defending  champions and we have been looking down at the rest of the league for the  past two seasons.  This year will be more of the same.  Unfortunately my  prediction of the finals happens to come in the first round instead of the  second.  I really thought my guys and I would fair a little better during  the regular season (5-7) but it didn't happen that way.  So we have the  finals rematch of a year ago, NOW!!  Revere vs Revere II, what a matchup!!   Heavyweights by far on both ends, like Rocky vs Apollo, Hogan vs Savage,  Tyson vs Holy..wait scratch that.  Anyway it should be a slobberknocker and  I do believe that the winner of this series will take the trophy.  So bring  it on Revere II cuz I promise you we will not be shut down for a third time  this year.  We will come out on top, cuz I've said it before, WE SHOW UP IN  THE PLAYOFFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, I just wanted to thank everybody for making our 10th season another  great one.  Its been a decade of destruction.  Even though we lost a gay  Melrose team halfway through the year, I think all in all it wasn't too bad.    This might not have been our best season but lets try to make these 2002  Playoffs as memorable as we can.  Maybe next year will be even better then  the rest.  Thanks to all the team managers that get everybody down to the  park each and every week to play the games.  It makes it that much more fun  when you have coaches that care.  Good luck to all competitors and may the  best Revere win!

Foodmaster Softball kicks off the 2003 season

Sunday May 18, 2003 kicked off the 11th season of the Foodmaster Softball League.  The Big Sticks, a team playing in their first ever game of their inaugural season, hosted the game against Salem Street 2.  It was a grueling battle with both pitchers trying to establish a strike zone for the first 2 innings.  Salem jumping out to an early 12-4 lead, but the big sticks were thundering in the bottom of the 3rd and 4th innings pounding out 9 and 11 runs respectively.  A majority of the runs game on timely hitting and 2 moonshot home runs that drove in a total of 6 runs from Keith Manning.  It seemed as thought the air had been let out of Salem 2 tires toward the end of the game.  The team could only muster 5 runs over the last 4 innings and at that point the game had been put out of reach.  The final score was The Big Sticks 27- Salem 2 - 17.

Kudos to Adam Trukas and Brian Langston for being the first pitchers in FSL history to HAVE TO throw strikes.  Considering it was the first game in league history to have strikes and balls called, in a VERY small strike zone at that, all went fairly well.  The Big Sticks played well defensively and got big hits from the Big Sticks when they needed.  A game ball was handed out to Sean Doroty at the conclusion of the game.  Sean played well at third and also had 3 hits in the game.  As for Salem Street 2, the early predictions of a 12-1 record seems a little out of reach at this point, unless they plan on running the gauntlet throughout the rest of the season.  If Matt Keenan continues to give up on fly balls to the outfield it is going to be a long and losing season for Salem 2.  Until next time.Commish.
Here we go........the moment you've all been waiting for.

first of all.. i'll talk to the ump. I'll establish a strike zone with the other coaches and we'll move on. I am going to stick with him unless he really fucks up
i dont think that the plate extension is the worst thing in the world but i have to see what it looks likes before i make any changes. second. if everybody can get ASA umpire than why didn't you tell me 6 months ago: third. I don't think i made that many bad decisions. i think i give enough to the league that deserves a little more respect than what i get. the decisions i made this year were for the good of the league adn other teams. i never wanted balls and strikes, everybody else did. everybody cries....."the games are too long....Orourke looks at every pitch......blah blah blah." what the fuck do you want from me. i do the best i can. i give you guys what you want and you blast me for it. this is supposed to be fun. and who is the truth and why was it bad for me to leave revere. did you want four teams in the league? i brought another team into the league so we could have 5 teams. Revere will do just fine without me. for crissakes i wasnt even an all star...right? blast me for that!
Look i am not looking for reward or a fucking pat on the back. just some respect for doing all of this crap. if you want to start a new league with out me or my team whatever, but i try to do the best that i can for all of my "friends" and keep everybody happy. cuz we're all friends right? looking at the posts i think some people think i'm a dick or something but i don't seem to have any enemies when we are all on the field together. why bust my balls. have i hurt you in any way? did i offend you? am i bad guy cuz i just want to have fun in a "fun" league? bottom line. i'll fix this or we may just have to go back to the way things used to be. i do care alot about the league adn have for 11 years. i think i did ok so far keeping the fucking thing together. so cut me some slack. its been two fucking games into the year and already people wanna quit......... CYA.....QUIT... i don't fucking care. but be a man and talk to me about the things that bother you about the league.. dont talk shit about me in a friggin forum. for crying out loud you don't even name yourself. and for the record I NEVER talked smack about the big sticks and i ALWAYS leave my NAME. i know how new teams do in this league and that would be stupid to say we were going to be awesome. unitl next time ....commish
