With four wheels completed Alastair fancied a bit of a break so he decided to knock out an axle. This is a relatively simple between centres turning job. Here's a pic of the job.
It was now possible to test assemble a wheelset. They still need balance weights fitting before they can be finally assembled with Loctite.
The wheels were then test fitted in the frames - see the assembly 2 page for details.
