Subject: Re: addiction
Yeah, Arnel, looking back now from my own recollection we actually had somewhat innocently pristine high school days. Nary a taint of the addiction to drugs that plague today's youth.

Of course at our ages then, just like the young today, we were not only rebellious but also on discovery mode. Some of us had chance encounters with pot, some were introduced to drink, and plenty of us gambled away our hours over pusoy (does Dax know yet we've been hustling him all the while?).

But on the whole none of us actually threw caution to the winds and spoiled his life away with drugs. Kung mayroon man, hope not, this would have happened during college na--and that part of our stories we're still waiting for the others to tell.

Nates, that was a mean thing to do to Mayor Bueno, although there's no denying he enjoyed it, probably never had such fun in his life, he-he.

Good to know Mrs. Ruff still pretty much around. I remember the kind lady for teaching us classical mythology, to be precise, Greek lore. And not only that, the Ruff family going out of its way to lend each of us a copy of that book Homer the blind poet's epics, the Odyssey and the Iliad.

Boy, that book changed my life. Stories about the gods, kinship, friendship, betrayal. Cyclops, Zeus, Hera, Penelope, Helen of Troy, Paris, Hector, Achilles and his damned heel...I remember the phrase, "If you should find yourself drawn towards the sea, Take the moral compass of poetry."

That's actually where I got the name for my daughter, Circe. You know Circe, the sorceress-enchantress who turned Odysseus' men to swine in her Isle of Aeaea? Hah, 'nong sinabi ni Harry Potta?

Remember the time our class spent the night at Ruff Inn, we were so wild and noisy our hosts actually descended upon us in the middle of the night to tell us to pipe down the neighbors are complaining? We sure all quieted down. The funny part is Ireneo bursting in from the CR at exactly this moment saying something inane like, "Anya, naangot yo?" or something to that effect. Pandemonium!

Anyway, Nates, I don't recall anyone calling Mrs. Ruff a witch. Send our regards, include Joseph. He still a banker?

arnel, ur right we never called her witch. They were really good to us. Even Major Ruff who stayed in the side lines quiet and smiling.
He just got irked  when we slept over  kina  Henry and we were boisterous.  The major was castigating  the whole lot  of  us  boys then when Ireneo Amogan comes  in buckling his belt and  zipping his  fly cockily  saying "ANYA, NAKA- ANGES KAY MET ALENG  AMIN?"  Then there  was complete silence  followed  by  snickers. Wahahaha.  the poor guy  did not  know  Henry's old man  was blowing  his top. Worked though as the Major left with a snicker.
Just like  the holdupper "Hands up you mother stickers, THIS IS A  ----UP"

Subject: Filling in the blanks
hi y'all - I'm posting from Tech Ed Barcelona in between sessions here.

Its been quite busy but things are starting to wind down. In a few days I'll be in vacation mode and be more of a writer than a reader. Hey writers (you know who you are) thanks for the great entertainment and food for thoughts.

Now things about me -- joined the US Air Force in Nov 79 and retired Aug 2001. In between those years, there were some very significant events. The top ones being that I married Susette ( Susanne Valdez of FIT High remember them!) and had three wonderful kids -- Carlo 17, Anna 14 and Graciela 9. Of those almost 22 years in the USAF around 9 years was spent here in Europe Germany and Netherlands).
We liked Europe so much such that when a job opened up I decided to hang up and stay some more in Europe. I still some affiliation with the AF since the Agency I work for manages the AWACS (those planes that has this big radar dome on top of it) modernization for NATO. Its a good job and so far Europe offers a good environment for my growing kids (believe me they're getting huge). Not only physically though but also culturally. I guess you could categorized them as TCKs (Third Culture Kids). They're American kids but do not have access to stuff available to their cousins in California, they're exposed to multi-European habits since we're just minutes/hours to the borders of Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, France, etc... and they go to an International School (>50 nations). They're also very aware of their Filipino Heritage--we make sure of that because there is a tendency for a lot of Pinoys abroad to form some strong communities. I'm particularly pleased with the food when we have these get togethers here. They're also looking forward to the trip to the Philippines. They're curious about the tribes that there nanang and tatang come from. Anyway I gotta go now -- till next time and best regards to all. -- art

hey art,

thanks for the update and the expressed plan to be with us in december. as of now, ur the first of u based overseas that has expressed the intention of joining us on december 27, 2003. we hope we can get more of our classmates so we can have a really great time.

when u mentioned about being so near so many countries i was reminded of the joke about 2 old men sitting in an intersection. a motorist stopped to ask directions in english but they couldnt understand what he was saying. the guy asked for directions in french and they still couldnt understand and so it was in german and italian.

when the motorist was gone, one old man says to another: "we should start learning another language!" the other replies: "why should we? look what good knowing 4 languages did for that guy...:

hehehehe

have a great day everyone!

buddy

p.s. how come howard hasnt joined? or even evelyn. arnel, can u pls check if these guys open their email inboxes? ive been sending invites but they havent joined. no reply also from alex valera.

hi buddy -- you know this situation is quite true in some of the rural places we've gone to ( actually got lost to) here. i probably would have had the same luck if i spoke to them in ilocano. i guess the borders here have probably changed hundreds of time with all the wars they've been involved with and a lot of them have retained their own dialect. if you're a war buff this is a good place to be. they've got lots of museum and lots of the areas haven't really changed a lot since the medieval times. i would have to admit they're pretty good at preserving their environment when developing their cities. but they build good autobahns for speeding (where did that come from?).

still in Barcelona but leaving for the States tomorrow for my home leave. I hope I bump into you o'seas classmates. good day. tot ziens, auf wiedersehn, ciao, bon dia, buenas dias, au revoir and sige ngarud.

Hi.  Am still here, Buddy.
Imbag  pay sikayo ken ni Arturo ta adda  pay LA yo.    The only places I know here that correspond to that is La Azotea  in  Session Road or the LA car park which  used to be our old  class rooms   at the UB House.
Anyway,  nice to know about Suzette  and your kids, Art.  If you will be  bringing your kids and  they  really  want  to know about Cordillera culture, then it  would be nice to have some "pattong" during the  reunion. What you say,  Letty?
FYI, I know how to play  the "ballangbang"  and I have access to four gongs  but we would need some  indigenous musician friends to help play the gongs... unless  perhaps our classmates Engineer Ramon Panaoen Lee, Agosto Vicente or  the husbands of resident-classmates here like Arlene Luna-Flores or Carmen  Tauli would know how to play the gongs.
Also I do not know about the ethnic protocols because  you just cannot play the gongs  for any flimsy reason, HOWEVER, I  feel  that  the  reunion is enough reason to celebrate  and we really  would have to "padara"  one pig -- some to be  cooked  the indigenous  way, the  rest for  our food.
If you are interested, Art, you could  also  bring your kids to St. Louis Missouri on the 4th of July next year  when the  fourth (or  is it the  3rd or 5th? Whatever...) Igorot International Consultation  will  be held.  Here you will meet  overseas  Filipinos who trace their  roots to Baguio and the Cordilleras converging  and hodling  forums about ethnic roots and ties (sounds  like identity crisis to some...hehehe)  This biennial event  was held  in London last year.
Anyway,  Bud,  if you get the chance to visit  an  agricultural store  in LA or enywhere in your travel, try  to get  me  a "Hive Tool," its a  screw driver type  scraper which  is  used  in beekeeping.  If  you can't,  get me five used or "wagwag" paperbacks of your choice (Mystery novel, environment  issues, etc.)
Maane, Manny, Josie (my first dance  in kapet-kapet during the  JS prom)  and the rest of you  mainlanders there,  take  note  of  Buddy's trip as you could have a mini  reunion there  perhaps.  Galing, naman! nainggit na naman ako. Enjoy, you  people  and always remain   happy... God Bless   us  all.

Subject: mini-reunion in LA??
hello guys,

thanks for the posts! do i sense a chance for us to have a mini reunion in LA while i'm there?? i think that would be a great idea!

art, i'll be arriving on the 11th then i'll leave for nuyok on the 16th then be back in LA in the 22nd then fly back to the islands on the 25th. rather hectic but i only got 2 weeks off from the job and we're going to be really busy for the next few months because we are opening all of our facilities by september.

i will be staying with my uncle in north hollywood right there near the 170/sherman way exit. i'll be with my wife who actually lives in LA. why am i here and she's there? long story but maybe it's true that the secret of a happy marriage is living apart.. (hehehe. just kidding)

for u guys who don't know yet, i'm general manager (hehehe. i always kid my PMA classmates that i'm the first general of the class) of the eagle ridge golf and country club which is the biggest golfing facility in the philippines. we have four (dats 4) golf courses and three (tatlo) clubhouses. huge would be the word to describe it.

our main clubhouse has a theater, ballroom, 16 bowling alleys, billiard tables, gym, basketball, tennis and badminton courts and a swimming pool that even has a beachfront. it's no joke to manage even if u just think about it. anyway, it's a living...
maane, since ur in touch with these guys in LA, maybe we can do some early planning. i'll get in touch with you and art when i get there. it would be nice to get together again!

best wishes to everyone!!!

Nates: Yes, I will definitely be bringing the kids and Susette. They are all excited. They are always excited about anything "Pilipino." We try to keep them involved with the culture as much as we can and also educating others about it. Carlo and Susette were involved in the International Culture Fayre held at their school last May and the Asian Pacific Celebrations at the base a week later. The all-day presentation at the school went really well and was quite a hit with the students especially the food tasting (lumpia) and the dress from the different regions (the barong and the beaded costume from Jolo -- this was Susette's from over 30 years ago -- an antique!). They were even featured in our local community newspaper. Anyway, if you can make this happen, this would really be one of the highlights of their trip there. Please let me know how I can help make this a reality. Actually, Carlo plays the piano and his favorites are his kindimans. He wants to learn the Ilocano "kundimans" as well but he is unable to find music in the Netherlands or even on the web. Do they still play that kind of music in the Philippines? Meanne: Sorry, I missed your call. Susette and the kids dragged me to the Mall. We were out until closing time! I'll try to call you tonight. I know you RNs are terribly busy but, hopefully, you'll be home by then. Manny: Hey, Manny, still waiting for your call. What's your number? We plan to spend a couple of days in San Diego. We could meet then. Buddy: Yes, do give me a call when you get in, general! It would be just like times of old! Tom, Arnel, Dinah, keep on posting. To the rest, please log on!

Subject: Just when i made a posting...
Just when I had the chance to make a posting, I got an error message that I my e-mail address is not subscribed to the group! Azar talaga. Three weeks ago, I had some problems where e-mails addressed to the Ateneo Graduate School was being sent to me. So I asked the IS to do something to put all these in a junk mail folder. Somehow, other mails were affected.
Anyhow....
Sure enjoyed reading all the postings - they start my day .... from Maane and her envious cruise in the Carribean, the rather touching (sometime poetic) exchanges from Tom, Nates, Arnel, Dinah and now Art! Mabuhay kayong lahat! It sure is heartwarming to know of your years passed. I am also quite amused how you have named your kids - Tom's Circe, Arnel's Iko and Elo, Art's Third Culture Kids. I wish Tom and Nates (our writers) can chronicle these and we can come up with our book... "class 73 thru 30 years"...
These passed weeks have been rather busy - we had our visitors from our HQ in Switzerland, then some auditors from our Regional Center in Singapore, and then one of my key staff had an accident, etc. etc... am not trying to make reasons for not being able to write a few lines. No excuses.

So Buddy, hope you have a good trip to the US. Try to meet with our friends there and hope that they will plan to attend the reunion in December. (I was just reading the latest postings and seems like you guys will have a mini reunion there...HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME... kahit wala kami...ganyan naman talaga..)

I am going home to Baguio this week-end. (Kami rin, mag-reunion!) Vivien, if you read this, I hope we can arrange to meet with Evelyn, Howard, Carmen, Arlene S. (and L.). Arnel and Nates, sana available din kayo. (Nates, we can then plan the "Patong". You know we have to get the permission from "Kabunyan" so He will give us the blessing. Art, we will certainly make a program to remember... Maane, ano, uwi na kayo? We will have the fried tilapia, bagoong, etc...sabihin mo lang kung ano pa ang kini-crave mo diyan..)
Dinah, where are you in Pampanga? Let us know if you are here in Manila. Beth Frondozo Manuzon lives in Valenzuela, Bulacan so neighbors kayo (lalo na kung tapos na yung expressway, it would be very easy to cross Pampanga to Bulacan).

Art, I was in the Netherlands for a month in 97. Were you there at that time? Stayed in a small town called Nunspeet - we had a factory there. It was raining most of the time (February) and the Inn I was living in is near a forest and it was really eerie at night when the wind blows - parang may typhoon. Sure did learn a lot there, though. I was living in Switzerland for 2 years 1996-97.

So long...

Yes, it's me (finally). Wondering why it took me so long to do a posting? I myself was wondering. I guess bec. whenever I log onto our site or read your mails seems like entering a time machine and being transported to the days when I was a soft-spoken, shy girl (kuno), content with listening (reading) rather than talking posting)... memories ... memories. Good thing unlike Alice it didn't take a hundred years for me to come to real time.
Kumusta-ak ngay? Naimbag unay unay - really good than I deserve. God has continuously been so good to me. He is my Strength, my Guide, my Health.

My email address says it – I'm librarian at brent school baguio– Nates' alma mater. Before brent, I worked at UP diliman then UP baguio.

Thanks, Buddy for this great idea of an egroup. Hope you meet many of our classmates when you visit US this month. Thanks,Tom and Nates for such "literary," funny, heart-warming postings. Tom,what are doing at pagcor – you should be with GMA's media staff, may even have a picture with Bush or the emperor of japan, or perhaps sadam :-).
Nates, there's another LA this side of Baguio where henry, howard and I are familiar with. Arnel, looks like hinidi ka lang class jester, class historian din, thanks for reminding us many funny stuff. Art, tried to get your email address last april pa from Laiza Salinas but i didn't follow through but you're here now. Maane, thanks for all your postings and for calling – was so nice to hear your voice again. Dinah, call me when you visit baguio, get together naman tayo kahit sandali lang. Brenda, thanks for your text messages. Lettie, yes i'll contact classmates and have a get toget cguro sat pm. Can you come to Baguio more often? This is the only way Arlene and I get to see each other :-( Really, adu kami ditoy baguio kya lang we don't see each other. If not nga for this plans for the dec reunion, di pa kami magkikita uli ni Arnel, Evelyn, Dax, Joy (and Jessie), Carmen, Angie (just before she left for US), or talk/tx with Pio, Dinah, Chato. hello, my dear  Vivs!
Nakakagalak  at nakakapagpasaya  that you are now responding and posting  your  thoughts on line. Siemps when we get together, can't  help but  think back and become  what we were  30 years ago  whether in the  flesh or even through  cyberspace.
But many things  have changed  really. The hair has either grayed or gone,  eyesight  is  not as good and the  weight  has gone twice-three  times  when  we we young.
Like last week,  we were a bit late so I tried running  with my kid up Q.M. to his  school  which is  a very short  walk  from  the house where we live. You know what? Could not help but go  huffing and puffing. What really got me was that  there was a jiggle in my middle! Wahahahahahahaha.
Anyway,  ring  me up or send a txt message  kung matutuloy  yung  get together natin Saturday.
Lets,  adda ngata  mabulod mo nga  'wanes' (baag)? This is  for the dancing lang naman muna. We could look for a "mambunong"  para  naman culture-bound  tayo and  in accordance with  indigenous practice kung  matutuloy and  planong "pattong"  for   the December 27 reunion.
I  was also even thinking baka we can talk with Narda's or maybe even Easter School Weaving room siguro to  come up with a special  weave  for  those who will attend  the reunion.
At a special price  siguro, this can be used as "bahag" or muffler for the guys or puedeng scarf or shawl for the ladies. Medyo mahal lang ng konti siguro because I got one necktie from Nardas some years  back then and it already cost 450; how much more  for a "wanes"  or  shawl type
Dinah, guess  who lent the Harry Potter series to my kids?  Si Fidelis, siemps.  She had them photocopied  and lent us  the whole  series which  my  kids  lapped up all summer.  I think it was Portia's books  which  were  photocopied.
Anyway,  ang d  na lang natin  nariringgan sa ating e-group mail  is  Evelyn and  Henry.  Pero, Iknow it  will come,  so  let's keep on posting. see you then,  my dear friends.

Halleluyah, finally Vivs is writing. This is great!

Thanks Vivs for always being the organizer... and a very good one, too. You do manage to get these people together. Gumagana pa rin ang charms... Nates, Arnel - good that you will make it this week-end. Saturday afternoon/evening is ok with me. Sana we can have sina Carmen, Evelyn, Arlene, Howard...

Arnel, we can certainly start planning for the Dec 27 reunion (Grand reunion - kung may grand, di may mini). Would really be good if we can have suggestions. Nates have come up with some - the "patong", the native woven neckties or shawls .... these are all very good. Baka sa dami, our reunion will run for a week! We can probably even include a night of Casino... ano, Tom, may Pagcor casino ba sa Baguio?

Earlier, we have also started talking about a project that we, Class 73, can come up with. One that we can set up and sustain. It is payback time, my friends. We all have lived good full lives (others certainly fuller than most of us) and we can do something to make others also have a good full life. This will surely make life more meaningful. Di ba?

Am looking forward to seeing you this week-end.

Lets, it's nice to hear from you again. I think that the idea of the class doing a project to help others is excellent. We, as a class, are indeed blessed and if we can share our blessings with others then so much the better. Do you have any ideas on how to go about accomplishing this...recipients...needs? How about book or computer software donations for a local library? Financial support for a local elementary or high school?

Welcome, Vivs. Thank you for trying to contact me and trying to bring me into the fold. I am indeed here! And happy to be on board. I am really looking forward to this Grand Reunion 73-03! Wow!

Nates. I did not know that you were an alumni of Brent! Sounds like this "patong" is really taking off. Great idea with the woven material. Please let me know if there is anyway I can help.

Arnel, your son, Elo, looks just like you. Both of them are good looking...must be from their mother! He He!

Manny, I really hope that we can pull our (mini) reunion together. Tito is looking forward to having you all over. Please let me know if it will be on Monday or Tuesday. Give me a call. Hopefully, Buddy will have been rested enough (jet lag). Hopefully, Josie, Henry, and their families will be able to be there too.

Sorry, i was  not able  to join you Saturday as somthing came up here at home and I  just could not leave. Di bale,  and2  land  naman ako.
HA, di mo alam yong LA ni Vivs? It where the drag racers in Baguio spend the time especially at night kung nagkaka-dare-an sila and Henry's mom has a store there and their house and apartment.

Subject: Reunion last Saturday in Baguio
While I am writing this, can imagine that you there in that part of the world are having a great time reminiscing the years passed. Have a wonderful time. Save some stories for Dec. 27.

So we also had our reunion last Saturday at Little John's at John Hay. Dinah, Vivien, Arlene and myself. We had a good time with Dinah... first time to see her after all these years. The others did not make it for some reason or another....they are all very busy.
Arnel was in Tarlac and Nates had some other commitments. We still have not seen Evelyn, Carmen, Howard, Vicente, etc. etc. Seems like we need to work harder to fire up the SPIRIT OF 73.

I just talked to Reinelda this morning. I sent her the yahoogroups address and hope she will register soon. She is happy that we are now getting in touch. She works for an IT company. She is now living here in Manila. They used to live in Bataan until 2 years ago.

I tried to contact Victor... he is no longer connected with Mega Paint. I even tried to make up some stories just to get info on any contact number. Had to use our company name. I was asked to call back later to talk to their sales manager.

Maane, Art, am glad that you support this idea on a project. There had been some initial talks with Brenda, Arlene and Buddy on this. Nates and Arnel, would really be good if you throw your 2 cents worth here. Would appreciate your ideas on a project we can undertake. We will put this together and have some proposals.

Tonight, am having dinner with Brenda and Vivien. Vivien is here in Manila attending a workshop in UP. Brenda will be showing her culinary skills. You know what is for dinner? Bagnet from Vigan and pinakbet. So those of you who reads this e-mail and is in the area (Mandaluyong-Pasig), you are invited.

On suggestions for the reunion, the table is still open. Let us know what other activities you would like to have. Then we will come up with the program. Vivien and Arlene will be going around Baguio to look at a possible venue.

So long...

welcome rainelda!!
so glad to have u with us!! now we can all keep in touch through this forum which has had a very welcome effect of bringing us together once more. please naman, post some news about u and ur family and what has happened over the past 30 years since our graduation.
if you have any contact with any of our classmates who still have not joined, please post their addresses or phone numbers or email addresses. that would help us make this plan we have in december a success.
u can also go into the site and read the past posts and keep up to date with our other classmates. i guarantee that it would be interesting reading.
anyways, we just had our mini-reunion here in la last nite way out there where the 210E almost crosses the 15. it was quite a drive for some of us but it was worth every foot of the journey!! i wouldn't have missed it for all the angels in los angeles!
art and suzette and their kids were there, so with henry and bubut and their kids.manny arrived from san diego with josie and we had a lot of time to reminisce the past. it was past 12 midnight when we decided to call it a night but everyone still hang out for a few final moments of tsimis and socialization. seemed like no one wanted to go home. even the kids were thumping on the dance revo and battling the demons on the playstation up to midnight and didnt even want to be bothered by the picture taking.
we had a lot of time to talk about and exchange news about our classmates, missing or otherwise and we also had a fine dinner prepared by suzettes brother tito and his wife alma (tito was in the 1st year when we were graduating). thanks a lot to them for being our gracious hosts. they even brought out the fine china for us to partake in. (guys, if your hosts in the states bring out the real plates, that means they have taken the extra effort for u. everywhere styropor plates and plastic spoons are the norm).
a lot of pictures were taken and i know that some of these revealing phots will find their way to the photo section of our webpage one of these days. henry and manny promise to post in the near future if henry's kids will allow him, that is.
ill let the others in the reunion do their share of postings and all the news we passed around so theyll have all the more reason to post.
food for thought u guys: if any of u are in the la area, get in touch with manny, henry or josie and im sure youll have a great time. im so thankful that art and his family were there at the same time so we we able to be with them.
till next posting,
take care everyone!!

Subject: Mini reunions
The latest post from our correspondent Buddy in the States about their mini-reunion in LA yesterday surely gladdens the heart. By his sharing their get-together with Art, Suzette, Tito, Alma, Henry, Bubut, Manny, Josie and their kids, it is as if we were there ourselves. Can hardly wait to see the pictures they'll be posting! (Thanks for the tip, Buddy, I might get a chance to attend a convention in Vegas later this year, will surely look up Henry, Manny or Josie as you said.)

While they were enjoying the feast put together by Art's family, guess who were partying last night in Mandaluyong? Letty and Vivien, of course, with host Brenda. Let called me up while I was driving home around eight to say hello and to tell me somebody wanted to talk to me. What a delightful surprise, turned out to be Vivien! Hello again, Vivs, sorry I did most of the talking when I should have stayed quiet and listened to your soft voice--still prim and reserved I can sense! Anyway, good you could make it down to Manila for a brief tete-a-tete with Let and Bren to do some planning for our December reunion. Hi Brenda, what's cooking? Why didn't I talk to you last night pala, were you still in the kitchen?

Of course Let and Vivien also came from an earlier mini-reunion last Saturday at Little John's in John Hay, together with Dinah and Arlene. This is the meeting that Nates and Arnel missed, for which they apologized in their recent posts. Huuuuu, palusot pa kayo! He-he. I understand some planning about our Christmas get-together was done during this meeting as well.

Anyway, as I told Vivien, since we'll all be coming home to Baguio in December, it would be nice to spend our reunion together in a homey venue, perhaps somebody's house or one we can rent, a nice, airy, clean residence with a good-sized garden where we can barbecue and drink for the main merry-making, and a big living room with lots of sofas where we can hold private conversations or run into in case it rains. Lots of pine trees, greens, fresh air. A place to remind us of the Baguio of old, clean, quiet, peaceful, minus the ugly concrete, flyovers, high-rise buildings and traffic that we have today. Can we rent a cottage in John Hay for this purpose? But that's just me talking, of course, the others may have better ideas. Still, methinks this is preferable to renting out a big hall or function room in some hotel or something.

Viv said I should post this so we can solicit your ideas as well. In the meantime they're already going around town for a suitable place. Hey, it's mid-July na, we better get cracking. Mr. President, as Reunion Committee Chairman, may I propose that you start organizing the sub-committees na by designating the asst. chairmen. We should also think about raising the funds for this undertaking. How much we pitching in? Any ideas?

To make our reunion day significant and meaningful, let's do the special project we've been talking about on the day itself. Let's have our spouses and kids take part. Let's invite Emmett and our teachers, UB staffers, friends who played a role during our high school days. Why don't we have a priest come over and say mass?

I recall the annual Christmas Cantata to be a high point of our high school Christmas celebrations. Remember our daily choir rehearsals? Question is, is this activity still being observed? I miss this show, guys, I hope we can all attend it if it's still a tradition, should be worth a few good laughs--or tears of remembrance.

So there--your turn to broach your reunion ideas!

Welcome to the fold, Rainelda, glad you could join us! Where do you live in QC? Been a resident of Cubao myself for more than twenty years. We're moving in to our new home (also in QC, at the Batasan area) by December or January next year, God willing. Be good to know if you're nearby. I hear you're a CEO now, that's great news! Details, please! Start posting!

Maane, so busy didn't make it to Tito's yesterday? Don't I know the feeling. Art, when you going back to Euroland? Should've known you were based there, spent two weeks in Austria last year and had a chance to visit Belgium, France, Ams as well. You're right, it's a great place to settle in, but terrible food. All those breads and sausages and cheeses, good to have once in a while but I'd rather have rice and good old lutong Pinoy anytime. Learn to ski yet?

Hello to all, regards everyone, till next posting!

Hi everyone! Just arrived from manila an hour ago and guess the first thing I did—check my emails and read FIRST the postings fromclass 73. Glad to know of the LA reunion. Glad to read some inputs for our reunion. Just to let you know what we talked about during the 2 mini-mini reunions. The ideas of tom were the same we had in mind (wow!):homey venue, large pine-surrounded garden. We thought of a 2-day gathering, the first one on the 27th, Saturday will be just us, class 73 starting from about 2 pm until evening, towards the evening we can invite emmett and other former teachers. The next day will be the family day with spouses and children – we thought the beach willbe a good place for an all day activity and some families may decide to stay overnight. And because we're pressed for time for the reunion, we took the liberty to assign who'll do what (sorry, buddy, we didn't mean to be "insubordinates" he-he). Of course everything can change, (volunteers please) we just felt we need to start na. So here's … Program: buddy (of course), tom, nates, letty; Venue/Accomodation: Brenda; Food: arlene, brenda; Finance: arnel; Invitation: vivien, arlene. We thought John Hay would be the best place because last weeks of December being holidays, families will be vacationing and using their homes here. Brenda has volunteered to choose and book a cottage next week. Nates please coordinate with Brenda re: OPS PIA Training Center or John Hay.
So there – something to start with na. I mean to collate all suggestions so that decisions can be easier. Kaya lang am in a rush-will do that next week including additional suggestions.I promised letts and brenda I will post something from what we talked about. We hope with the above and tom's, arnel's ideas, more will be coming. Sorry if my "reporting" is magulo (with apologies, tom and nates).

Volunteers, please. Ruben, please naman volunteer for invitation committee -please design our program/invites, arlene and i will take care of distributing/mailing/making sure everyone in class 73 gets the invitation and comes to the reunion (oops, tall order). Thanks, ben.

hello everyone,
sorry i haven't written  for a time. anyway, i loved seeing arlene and letty and vivien in baguio. it felt like i was transported in time. and literally --- in place. only it was so short a meeting because i had to attend a dinner party with my brother and his family. they just came home from the states too. and he too is a science high graduate.and like us they are planning a reunion this year.
i have suggested to Vivien to look up the hotel Tepeyac in Baguio. It is near Teachers camp so there's plenty of pine trees. and they have rooms to let for those who want to check in at the place. They even have a playroom w/ billiard and darts. and a restaurant.
And maybe the reason i want this place is because they have a garden and a chapel on a hill in front of the hotel. And the atmosphere is very much like the villa where we used to have our classes.
It is just a suggestion anyway. I"m sure there will be other places nice to stay in. I am not sure what else I can do for planning. But if ever I am in Baguio I will inform Vivs so I can help out with whatever .
What about Buddy's knowledge of hotels and golf courses? Maybe he can even give a package deal for our venue.
I will wait for those pictures taken at the LA reunion. I envy you guys. Hello to everyone who attended that ... Sana malapit na rin ang December.
It was a surprise talking to Nelda on the phone. I hope you have found the website. Welcome and I am glad I attended the meeting at Little John.

It sure was a pleasant surprise when I got a call from Buddy during their reunion accross the Pacific Ocean. It was great talking to Josie, Art, Manny and Henry! Wonderful to hear your voices. Honestly, could not even recognize your voices ... after 30 years, mahirap, di ba?

So Vivien has updated you on the proposals/plans we made during the passed meetings. We have suggested some committees as well and made some assigements. No turning back, guys. To those who have been assigned to committees, take it with all your heart. This is an opportunity that comes once in 30 years!

Arnel, your idea is most welcome - you and Ruben to be in charge of the preparation of the venue. Nates/Brenda, if we cannot have one in John Hay, okay met diay PIA (is this the house accross from Mansion House?. Nates, i-volunteer ko diyay balay mi kaya lang adu ti istorbo idiay with all the children.

As Vivien mentioned, we plan to have a half day for us and maybe with some former teachers (Emmett, Bajada, Estoque, etc) later in the program. Then next day, we have a full day for families. Is this amenable with everybody? This means that the reunion will be Dec 27 pm and full day of December 28. Please let us know as this will be important in the subsequent planning.

Brenda, Vivs and myself also talked about Emmett. Brenda will try to find out from son Ian (also Science High graduate) on situation of Emmett... then we plan on what assistance we can give.

Best regards to all...

Subject: Reunion Day--My 2 Euro cents
Dear All,

This is starting to get exciting. We're actually getting into the nitty gritty of the planning. My advance thanks to all those people who volunteered (or voluntarily got assigned)to take on the different tasks. I'm fully aware of the hardwork and commitment from our hosting classmates that will go into the preparation of this affair that benefits us all tremendously. I'm aware that along with the leg work, there are finances involved. I cannot volunteer with the leg work so I would like to help out with the initial expenses to get this whole process on its feet. Arnel, as the "finance" man, lets talk.

And now for my 2 cents worth ... How about starting earlier in the morning of that day? We could start out with a breakfast (only members of the class of 73) then have a business lunch to finalize our project. (If there is a recipient for this project, then we could have the awarding in the evening during dinner). In the early afternoon, we could invite our former teachers to join us for a merienda. Then we could have a dinner/dance with our spouses and former teachers in the evening--a nice dress-up affair. The next day could be designated as family day and we could all drive or bus down to the beach for a fun-filled
day! Another venue could be chosen if the "patong" can take place so that the family day could center around it. This would make this whole experience very culturally enriching not only for our children but for us as well. Not to mention, very unique!

Please let me know. Till later ...

Hello  everybody!
Dinah's  idea  of  Hotel Tepeyac  is  nice, so with  John Hay  Cottage.  We can also have it  at the  PIA Training Center.  Yes,  that is the one directly opposite Mansion.  we could bonfire  and "Pattong," we could also have country folksingers  instead of dance band,  whatever.
For those  aching  for the  LA photos, go to  the home web page by  clicking this http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/ubsciencehigh_class73/ then on the  left hand portion  you can see a browser  menu, chose  photos, then enjoy. Its  user friendly.
I even downloaded a  flip  album and  shucks  I was flipping through  the pages  with th mouse like a regular  photo-album.
Manny, is that you? Inunahan mo si Buddy  in growing  a forehead? Come for the homecomng, pre, and  lets  look  for "bugayong" --- remember   those  red-n-black seeds we picked in my  home barrio Palintucang? Regards  daw   bro and kumusta ka na daw at huwag daw  masyadong trabaho  says  your sis, Sonia.
Attached with this file is last year's  sunflower and  "Almost heaven, Buguias  mountains." It could  have been taken along Kennon or at the back of Country Club or on the way to Arnel's beloved Tuding but it is still our fog.
How  can you afford not  to come for the homecoming and miss us? and the sunflowers that will dotting all of the hills and dales of Baguio and Benguet to welcome you? and the refreshing fog?
You might have gone  all over many places but Baguio's fog is different because it comes with the mist and the memories of our youth. Umay kayo kadi, kakabsat...pangaas-asi yo ta umay kayo intuno December  tapno...
Agkikita tayo manen a nakaradkad pay laeng .................. netan
