BTW, I saw Tang Manuel Mariano in church (UCCP) again yesterday; he has long retired but is now an ordained pastor along with her daughter Florence. With your clearance and indulgence, class 73 Netizens, I will invite him to the reunion for the honoring part.
One thing I, Arnel, et al, would like to know -- Art do you need to be booked or will you have accomodations? We foresee that the whole city will be crawling with people during the Yuletide Break so if you have to be booked, holler, man. Anyway we have booked a two-bed room as part of the reunion package. Art n family can have it if they need it.

thanks to our working groups, especially the Bagiuo group for making this
thing happen.
Yes!!! I'm attending the Class 73 "El Grande" reunion . Family and I will
be arriving in Manila on the 20th and then go up to Baguio on the 26th.
Nates & Arnel, thanks for thinking about us on those Hotel Tepeyac rooms
but Susette did already made some accomodation arrangements for the family.
We're still trying to fix the transportation arrangements to (around and
back from also!)Baguio, so if you guys have some suggestions, I sure would
like to hear them.
I tried to wire some money yesterday and my bank required some numbers.
They need a routing number (ABA no.), the bank's telephone no., and whether
this is a savings or checking or some other type. I guess it's the same
thing Maaane was asking for. And speaking of Maaane, I didn't have the
chance to thank you for those piano pieces. It kinda got to us about a
month after we left the states. Things really got hectic around here and
... Anyway, Carlo liked it and now we're enjoying the music. So a big THANK
YOU...
Pictures on CD, or even on the web is a good idea. Hopefully, the digital
camera I ordered gets here on time but I don't think it would be a problem
to make it happen. Thanks again to our working groups.

...last saturday...our alma mater celebrated its 40th anniversary with a grand reunion...letts' cousin was in the hospital...evie...vivs...benz and arlene were busy...so only howie and i came from class'73...
...it was a whole day affair...there was the opening ceremonies in the morning...then lunch...then an alumni meeting...afternoon merienda...then an honor dinner...
...the alumni were seated on the au-gym floor...where tables were marked...class60's...class70's...etc...while the science high students...about 470 of them now...sat on the bleachers...opening remarks were made by rei bautista...some entertainment numbers by the students...then sharing moments...by the alumni...mostly about emmett's fainting...i wanted to share with them about someone farting during one of the rehearsals for the music barn...but it was about lunchtime...so i stopped myself...we had pack lunch catered by mr. raymundo...husband of binibining castillo...
...doc howie had to go down to manila at one so he left after lunch...
...the alumni meeting started with a principal's report on the science high today...acting principal...mr. orduna...introduced the science high student council...they had a prime minister...and class ministers...unlike us before when we only had one...dictator...for life...
...the present faculty members were also introduced...i talked with mr. orduna after his report...and asked him what the science high needed from the alumni...he said they needed a communication system...from the principal's office to the classrooms...a quotation amounting to about P12,000.00 was submitted to him...i didn't promise him anything but i told him i was going to take this up with you guys...as our class project...so how about it guys..?
...an alumni organization election was also scheduled...but since by then would rather drink brandy...and have a good time...we decided to retain the present set of officers...president...ramsey from class'86...vice president for those in the philippines...eli de mayo class'77...vice president for those outside the philippines...joel aliping class'82...he works in the INS and is based san francisco...treasurer...tintin bautista class'87...daughter of rei bautista...also appointed were rey abelleda class'67 to head the invictus...the newsletter of the science high alumni...lakan bautista class '92 to design the science website...
...the honor dinner was at the ub dome...ub president gil bautista made the opening remarks...then a message from dammy bangaoet...he related how about 40 years ago...he and rei bautista...then very young high school teachers would hold meetings thinking of ways to attract the best and the brightest pupils from baguio's elementary schools to the then baguio tech...the science high now was the poduct of those brainstorming sessions forty years ago...
...the science high alumni who passed the recent board exams were honored...but the highlight was the tribute to the faculty...past and present...it was unfortunate that emmett wasn't around...mr. and mrs. alcantara...nates' parents were there...and while they stood on the stage...everyone gave them a very long standing ovation...
...mama joy...gave the response...for all the faculty members...she told us the story of how when she was in one of those schools in manila...she would hear the pupils say...goodbye dirty chairs...goodbye...she wondered how dirty the chairs were in that school...until she realized...they really meant...goodbye dear teachers...goodbye...right there and then...she vowed that she would spend her time...teaching students...how to speak...i wanted to remind her that she did just that...when we learned that it supposed to be...there was an old man with a long beard...and not...there was an old man with a long bird..di ba hitler..?
...mama joy ended her talk...with something like...since you have appointed me to speak in behalf of all the teachers...then i declare...that all those things we may have said in a fit of anger...are null and void...another rousing standing ovation...
...sidelights...i was the only one from class'73...like buddy's sister bona was the only one from class'78...i didn't know whether to sit with the emil ruff and the seven from class'74 where i will be the oldest...or join manong eli aleta...manong patrick jacaban and the other four from class'70...i decided to go aound...
...the last part was the singing of the science loyalty song...and i was reminded of that time more than thirty years ago...when buddy showed me the lyrics of what was just supposed to be a new cheer...scribbled in a one half sheet of paper...lengthwise...he then asked tom to accompany us while we sang for the first time...the science high march...back then it was...we stand as one in victory...now it's...we stand as one in unity...a bit redundant...pero thirty years hence...nakakakilabot pa rin...buddy...
...the alumni organization had some science t-shirts...diaries...key chains...etc...made for the reunion...and there were many items left unsold...we could probably get some for our own class reunion...

First, the bad news.
Remember Susan Padilla (now Punzalan, former faculty member of
Bud's PMA), batchmate of Mars Quinto, Roger Riturban and Demie
Balawan and of course sister of Angie?
She passed away Tuesday morning of renal failure and other
complications. She was 48 years old. If any of you Baguio
Group would like to pay last respects, give me a call because
they live just below where my family lives at Q.M.
The good news?
Sad as it may seem, the bereaved are waiting for our classmate
Angie and her family to come home. Of course, the good news
is that we can personally call her to come R-Day!
You Baguio Bolsheviks, we really should get together, comfort our
comrade Angge and call her to the reunion.
Another bad news is that President GMA is expected in Baguio
beginning on the 26 to January 2. She might even come
earlier and although they would say it personal time, just
vacationing and that its unofficial, this will impinge on my
personal schedule which falls right smack on R-Day!
Nevertheless, arrangements will already be in place and I will
do may best to wangle that I be out of office and on call so
I could join you. OF COURSE, I would not miss the world for R
Day.

Nov.18, 2003. Will Nathan please find a copy there so maybe we can get good ideas from it.I know our school is not really a government subsidized one but maybe we can ask for help in that direction. Or maybe bring back the old way of how students should qualify for the scholarship program. A lot of ideas that we can bring up when we get to meet on the 26th... can't wait for the day to come.

I think susan Padilla was referred to me once for cvp
insertion at sto nino hospital. Sad to hear of her
demise. Anyway she had suffered a lot from her end
stage renal disease. The UB Science High Class 73
condoles with the family.
Our reunion is fast approaching and I enjoin everybody
to get in touch to our classmates they are in contact
with. The more the merrier.

tis the season of ho ho ho and as the day is nearer can't seem to

...so i guess everybody is now excited...konting tulog na lang...
...we had another reunion meeting last thursday at hotel tepeyac to finalize the menu...and to iron out some details...also to take advantage of angie's being here...vivs...angie...howard...evie...joy...arlene luna...and jesse were there...we can't seem to get more than seven of us...nates was in manila and just planed in from davao...ruben was busy...arlene brought with her some of our pictures more than thirty years ago...and that was enough to start the night with laughters...and tears from laughing so hard...
...we had beers and coffee and some food...then we had done what we went there for...we went to john hay manor to listen to dave tabligan play the piano...and dave was game enough to play his/our version of handel's halleluyah...warm and age of aquarius...we finally got to go home at past 12 o'clock...
...we had so much fun...angie decided to invite us to her place last saturday...for another reunion...and for her despedida...so evie...joy...jesse...and i went ahead...arlene luna followed...we texted arlene selga but she had a date with her children...nates was still busy...and vivs was in school...
...angie's mom...sister manang ofie...aunts and family were there...the food was good...prepared by angie's brother boy...and brother in law...mr. rey de guzman...yup...our biology teacher...rice bird...rice plant...remember..?
...angie thought we were there for her despedida...but what we really wanted was to get her drunk so she wouldn't be able to make it to manila...and her flight...so she can join us on our reunion...
