hi maane,

sorry i wasn't able to get in touch. very hectic yung sched ko since i was there for only 14 days, nag east coast pa ako. this meant that i had to spend about 4 days just for travelling. i hope that in my next trip i could find more time to realy go around.

my brother and his wife are both nurses in nyc and they really live a hectic life which includes taking care of 2 growing kids. kaunti rin time with them. hay naku, someone once said that the real problem in life is time. seems like some times he is right. hehehehe

lets keep the ideas coming guys, looks like we are going to have a really grand reunion in december. i hope josie makes it. she said she would try and manny is also raring to come home if only he had the chance. art and the family look like a definite and that would be good for them specially the kids to touch base with their parents rearing ground.

arnel, when is doctor howard coming online? does he need another invite? or does he need extra instruction on how to log in? maybe you can help him out by bringing him to the nearest internet cafe and
opening his vistas to a whole new world.

anybody from baguio coming down this august?? we're planning to have a planning meeting this month. tell us when u will be around so we can schedule it then. nates? arlene? vivien? arnel? joy? anybody??

as usual another call for more email addresses. evelyns? joys? carmens?

the week reagrding the details of the venues...
...evelyn would go to the science high to check on what is needed so we can also decide on our project...
...ruben and i will design the invitations...maybe a souvenir programme...and the necessary physical arrangements fro the venue...

Way to go, fellows...things are really coming together. Looks like we will even have several "mini" (Arnel gave the go ahead to use this term) reunions before the GRAND one in December. At lalong humahaba yata. At first, we were thinking of one day - Dec 27. Then we thought of Dec 27 half day and then whole day Dec 28, then Art suggested we make it full day Dec 27 and full day Dec 28. And now, pati evening na ng Dec. 26! We might be reunioning for the whole week!

Happy to hear that Doc Howard and Evelyn are now on board, next, they have to be on-line.

I have texted Brenda, Tom and Buddy about the next meeting - August 16. We will plan to attend. Hopefully, nothing comes up... a coup de etat, for example. I have visitors at that time from our Regional QA Center in Singapore and will see if somebody else can take care of them.

Arnel, saan ang Pine Breeze in Bokawkan? I pass this way all the time going home but have not really noticed this place. We trust that you will find the most appropriate and meaningful place for us to gather...

Art and Maane, thank you very much for your offer for financial help. This will surely come in very handy for our project... whatever it will be. I hope in the next meeting, we can really at least agree on what it would be.

So long....

...we then went to the cordillera house across the mansion...we were all agreed that this was a good place for the reunion...but nates informed us later that GMA will be up here in baguio on the dates of our reunion and the place will be full of media and security people and vans...
...before we dropped vivs off at brent we went around hotel tepeyac...the place dinah suggested...
...anyway we will still check out ating tahanan...the girls scout place at south drive...and i will still talk to my friend at camp john hay...will be reporting again later...

Subject: Guess who sent word?
Great to hear about the ocular inspections you people in Baguio are doing for the rest of us and the preparations you're putting together all by yourselves, we out-of-towners surely appreciate it. As Letty says, things are really coming together, with Howie and Evelyn now on board. Hmmm, if only we can have them join us online as well.
Over the weekend I received a biz card from Nates, and guess whose number it was? Who else but Fake, who seems to have bought himself a new mobile and then texted Nates a blank message. Well, everything has a learning curve to it, I guess.
I promptly called up Fake to tell him about our December 27 get-together and learned how he and his family are having a hard but happy time building their farm down in Barangay Carayman, Calbayog City, Samar. Seems we need not have worried about him and his family after all. He says they're ok and eating well and they'll try their damnedest to come home to Baguio this Christmas.
Fake complains that only 15 of his jackfruit trees bore fruit this year. That represents 5% of the total. He had planted around 300 and expects at least half up to 80% of these to bear fruit next year. Let's wish him well and pray they do. He also planted more than a thousand banana trees, between 200-300 calamansi trees and other crops. Right now he's doing rice.
I asked Fake if he ever gets the chance to try to get online and visit our website, if only to remind him of his youth and his good old Science High classmates, and also to be reassured that we are all still together as one class, ready to help one another in whatever way we can. He said he will.
Well, Arnel and Vivian and Nates and all the rest of you up there in the (former) City of Pines, great to have you doing all the work but I'm sure you must be having fun. I see you've gone around the candidate venues to size them up, see what's best for us. And our sked seems to be getting longer and longer, having grown to a 3-day affair! We leave it up all to you, please tell us how we can help or what we have to do.
What about the others? I see posts slowing down (including from myself, sorry, really been too busy--but of course not too busy to read your messages). A lot has happened here in Metro Manila in the past month, I guess you've all been following the news. Let's just hope we hear from the others too!
Cheers!

Subject: pumitlag ang puso
That's just what happened when I received the blank message from Fake. Pumitlag ang puso. Imagine -- years nawala, tapos biglang may blank message, wahahahahaha.
This is because I've been ringing him the day I got his cel # from his sis-in-law and there was no response. I even gave his # to Vivs and Arnel when we were treated to dinner by Doc Brenda Cawis Banda-ay last Thursday evening. Rang him up again and still no contact.
Saturday morning, naubusan pa ako ng load kaya takbo ako sa neighbor naming SS store (that's for sari-sari) and voila! In comes the blank message. Kapapadala ko lang response when the phone rings and who else but Fake is on the other end saying he was just studying his newfangled celfone. Then thats when i sent the bizcard to Tom and el Presidente General Manager Buddy.
Miguel Pedroso (that's his full name) is doing fine; he got Mary Anne's postcard from Florida and also mine. He's working his farm and hopes to build a website next year to market his products as Tom has enumerated. Nagtataka nga raw siya hindi daw ba Maria Ana daw si Ms. Gammad; anyway I hope Mrs. Feliciano wont get too sensitive about this like the old Casimiro Bucayo who got lost in time.
Manny Hitler, apay ngay, you stopped posting after uploading the California mini-reunion photos? Henry, kumusta ka na p're. And how my first prom dance Ms. Josie Juquiana? I-pakaammo yo met a how you're doing, dear friends?
BTW, if any of you Manila- or other Philippines-based guys would care to come, please be around on the late afternoon of the 16th, this Saturday because by then Arnel would have visited Ating Tahanan and John Hay as alternatives for our reunion venue.
Initially at this point, Arnel and Doc Bren, us included with Vivs -- are considering the UB-HRM building -- this is the former yellow building to the right of the Au-Gym if you people would like to know. Remember that little store where we used to have merienda of banana bread and coke? Well, its not there anymore but if you face the site, which is now the site of the UB Diagnostic and Medical Center, the said building is to your right. This was purchased by the Bautistas and its where their HRM students do their practicum. There are some plus and minus factors to consider and the more of you around would democratize discussions and faciltiate the decision.
Also, it is the birthday of Lakay Tomas on the 26th. Talagang tumatanda na tayo lahat! Fake would like to know the b-day of Karla Circe also pala, Tom, and being an August celebrant baka puedeng ikaw mag-host sa 16th.
Hanggang dito na muna at hanggang sa susunod muli... sana'y matagumpay at masaya kayong lahat sa inyong mga pinagkaka-abalahan. (That would have been added points for Bb. Castillo who is now Mrs. Raymundo.)
Sige, kakadwa, agkikita tay to pay met laeng --------

Does the statement, "We've always done it that way" ring any bells?
The US standard railroad gauge (distance between the rails) is 4 feet, 8.5 inches. That's an exceedingly odd number.
Why was that gauge used?
Because that's the way they built them in England, and English expatriates built the US Railroads.
Why did the English build them like that?
Because the first rail lines were built by the same people who built the pre-railroad tramways, and that's the gauge they used.
Why did "they" use that gauge then?
Because the people who built the tramways used the same jigs and tools that they used for building wagons, which used that wheel spacing.
Okay! Why did the wagons have that particular odd wheel spacing?
Well, if they tried to use any other spacing, the wagon wheels would break on some of the old, long distance roads in England, because that's the spacing of the wheel ruts.
So who built those old rutted roads?
Imperial Rome built the first long distance roads in Europe (and England) for their legions. The roads have been used ever since.
And the ruts in the roads?
Roman war chariots formed the initial ruts, which everyone else had to match for fear of destroying their wagon wheels. Since the chariots were made for Imperial Rome, they were all alike in the matter of wheel spacing.
The United States standard railroad gauge of 4 feet, 8.5 inches is derived from the original specifications for an Imperial Roman war chariot.
And bureaucracies live forever.
So the next time you are handed a spec and told we have always done it that way and wonder what horse's ass came up with that, you may be exactly right, because the Imperial Roman war chariots were made just wide enough to accommodate the back ends of two war horses.
Now the twist to the story...
When you see a Space Shuttle sitting on its launch pad, there are two big booster rockets attached to the sides of the main fuel tank.
These are solid rocket boosters, or SRBs. The SRBs are made by Thiokol at their factory in Utah. The engineers who designed the SRBs would have preferred to make thema bit fatter, but the SRBs had to be shipped by train from the factory to the launch site.
The railroad line from the factory happens to run through a tunnel in the mountains. The RBs had to fit through that tunnel. The tunnel is slightly wider than the railroad track, and the railroad track, as you now know, is about as wide as two horses' behinds.
So, a major Space Shuttle design feature of what is arguably the world's most advanced transportation system was determined over two thousand years ago by the width of a Horse's ass.
And you thought being a horse's ass wasn't important?
Some things never change!

Yeah right.
I would bet that's about the same measurements they used for the railroad tracks here in country.
So come to think of it, those Roman Emperors were instrumental in causing squatting here in the Philippines! Howdathappen? Well its because those two horse asses have the same measurement as the "trambias" or is it called "rakit" which dwellers who live in the poorer side of the tracks use as their public conveyance.
Tom, you had a room mate in LB -- forgot his name, Orly or something? -- who lived in such and I think we rode on one of those when we went once to their place.
So if those space shuttles have their SRB's we in the PI have our leg-powered "rakits" made of recycled ball-bearings scrap lumber which span the railroad tracsk and recovered plywood for seats. You can add some bamboo pieces and even a transistor radio to boot and you have a contraption that glides through the railroad tracks in the open air "al fresco," only in the philippines.
Still and all, am thankful because these are the same measurements that made the Asin tunnels possible, the so-called Three-days-n-two nights needed to make it to the hotsprings.
And that, my friends, is part of Science High history. We were still first year (shucks, was it second year? for Biology with the Ricebird-riceplant?) when we went to Asin. I still remember coming up to Baguio leaving the rest of you to ride the bumpy bus because Mars Quinto called me to join them with David Brinsmead (thats DAY-vid, with the Aussie Accent) in his Honda motorcycle. Earlier the guy was cursing because some prank (was it howard, art or that Mon guy a year ahead of us? I never knew) stuck a match stick in his keyhole. "Now all it can do is go in blessed circles!" poor David.
And so even if those Asin tunnels evolved through time because of two horse asses, its no big deal; stories have it even that a lucky hunter recovered a small suitcase made of steel and wood from the walls of the longer tunnel and inside it were bars of gold.
I would not mind that kind of horseshit; lay it on me, man, anytime.

I know, I know, this is going to look like a cop-out any way you look at it.
We---my wife, daughter and I---had originally planned to come up to Baguio this weekend to attend the pre-reunion meeting. This trip is something we’ve been looking forward to (notwithstanding our upset the last time we were up when somebody vandalized the car). We would surely have enjoyed the long drive up and the (hopefully) invigorating nip of highland air.
Unfortunately, this isn’t going to happen after all. Just got an instruction ftom my boss to do this do that and to file a report first thing Monday morning. Aaaaaaarrrgggh!
So like Buddy, I’d just like to apologize to you folks up there in Baguio, sorry Nates, can’t come, sorry Arnel, sorry Vivs, sorry Joy, sorry everyone. Hey, I’ll make it up to you next time. Sayang. It’s my birthday pa naman on the 26th and I had planned to treat you to dinner. Now, you’ll all just have to take a raincheck for that. Who knows, one of these days I might just come up to you without warning and yell as the Chinaman did: “Supplies! Me here, let’s party!”
Nates, that was Orlando Olbes you were recalling, my roommate in UPLB. I wonder where he is now? Yes, we did get to ride those person-driven trolleys-on-railtracks while we were in Laguna. Quite resourceful really how those poor inventive folks could put together a pile of 2x2s, planks and bearings to come up with a free transport system---just mind the incoming train! Just how is Asin Hot Springs nowadays? Buhay pa ba ito? I remember the long ride down and the spectacular views and tunnels and the old swimming pool, including the showers, the nice lunch after, the hanging bridge down by the rocky river and even the long wait for the bus that’ll take us back, the restful doze while riding home and waking up to the cold zippy air when the bus tops the mountains back into Baguio. Never gonna recapture those moments again…
Maane, why so quiet lately, got swamped with work? Same here. Just saw on CNN this morning about a widespread power blackout that has suspended work in Canada and the East Coast. Hope it’s not a terrorist attack and that you’re all safe and sound.
Buddy, good luck on your course’s grand opening, no doubt it’s going to be a splash. Watch out, we’ll come a-visiting later when things settle down for you. Let me just repeat your invitation to Baguio folk to come down here in Manila once in a while naman so we can treat you, have a good time. Now that we’ve gotten this reunion ball rolling maybe we can schedule a regular monthly eyeball alternating meeting venues in Baguio and Manila to consult/coordinate with each other as we count down the months to December.
Arnel, glad the railroad piece got you interested. Maybe Ruben can use it as well to illustrate to his students why “We’ve always done it this way”! And it’s understandable how you can’t get any cottages for December, it’s the holiday season after all and most of the good ones will be in use. At any rate, we appreciate all the work you’re doing, don’t get fed up! I used to meet with Fil-Estate’s Sobrepena and his assistant , Peng Perez de Tagle ba yun? I’ll dig up their numbers and see if they can help with the John Hay cottage.
So there you go, guys, have a good meeting and let us all know what was discussed. Would most particularly want to know further details about our the venue, class directory, budget, fees to charge, program/sked, division of labor for the preparations and other items.
Here’s a poem Letty emailed us. I’m surprised she didn’t post it into our website. Anyway, Let, I took the liberty of sharing it with everyone else, hope you don’t mind…
From Letty: Dear friends, [this is] rather true....take time to read the poem... Kaya nga ba its about time we have a reunion...
Around the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone.
And I never see my old friends face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell.
And he rang mine but we were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.
"Tomorrow" I say! "I will call on Jim
Just to show that I'm thinking of him."
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And distance between us grows and grows.
Around the corner, yet miles away,
"Here's a telegram sir," "Jim died today."
And that's what we get and deserve in the end.
Around the corner, a vanished friend.
Remember to always say what you mean. If you love someone, tell them. Don't be afraid to express yourself. Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you. Because when you decide that it is the right time it might be too late. Seize the day. Never have regrets. And most importantly, stay close to your friends and family, for they have helped make you the person that you are today.

Hi Howie!
So! Finally you're online! Glad to know you've finally connected, that sure took a long while coming! Anyway, welcome, classmate, and hope you can share more about what's happened with your life, where you've been, where you're at and how you doing now. I guarantee all of us your former colleagues in our teens will be very very interested, whereever we may be.
Nates tells me your meeting which should have taken place last Saturday has been moved to next Saturday. So what happened? At least that gave me hope, now I can try and join you after all, with a 3-day weekend coming up and all that. Not to mention Nates making kulit that I should make an effort to come. Allright, allright! Let's just hope my boss doesn't come up with some totally uncalled for extra work again over the weekend!
Letty paid a visit to our college alma mater (UPLB) last weekend and she says she was able to speak with Mrs. Tiong's sis. Seems our science mentor now makes a living or has settled in Ohio, USA. Maybe you guys in the States can track her down one of these days and serenade her with our famous chant: "Tiong-stop, Tiong-go..."
I was in the middle of a truly boring meeting last Friday when I felt the urge to text Fake. He replied he was in the middle of his orchard pruning his calamansi shrubs and harvesting. I felt the urge to yell, "No fair!" There's certainly no comparison between what he's doing and what I was doing. Lucky guy!
So where do you plan to hold next Saturday's meeting? Letty says sorry she can't come, wants me to proxy for her. Buddy I'm not so sure, but don't count on it, he appears to be very busy nowadays. Give me some advance info on our meeting so I know what to look forward to. Also who's coming and who's not, what's on the agenda and the menu. Hey, it's my birthday next week, I'll treat you (as long as it fits into my credit card, he-he)! See you then!

Subject: tom's birthday
...hello again classmates...
...friday last week...august 15...letty called me up to tell us that she wouldn't be able to make it for our meeting the next day...she reminded me that the next weekend would be a three day weekend...and although she can't still come up to...she figured tom would be able to make it...
...so i texted vivs...nates and joy to suggest to them to move the meeting to this saturday...nates agreed...joy too...vivs said that carmen was leaving the country...so we can make a committee meeting for our reunion...a birthday party for tom...and a despedida party for carmen...
...previously...i was the one who asked vivs or letty the venue and the time of our meetings...this time however nates told me ako daw magdecide...okay...how about meeting at brod pit again...we can reserve one of the rooms for our meeting...as for the time...how about 4pm...it would be later than the 3pm we were used to...and it would be earlier than 4:01pm when most of us arrive...we can have a merienda cena meeting so it wouldn't be expensive for our birthday boy...so from now until saturday...if there are no violent reactions...or betterer alternatives...see you at brod pit...gen. luna cor. brent road...4pm on august 23...so vivs...nates...hope we can again invite howard...joy...arlene...evie... ruben...dax...carmen... the other arlene...brenda...so we all greet tom...
...i don't know about nates...but vivs...okay lang magpost ng pictures...but fair is fair...where is your close up..?
...maan...even if vivs doesn't post ouir birth years...di ba nasa...perspective"73 naman..?
...time to go...see you all later...

HI to everyone!
Bilisan  lang  ito ......  sori  for the quickie  ;-)
Arnel  will be the one to set  the venue for this Saturday's,  or  perhaps Carmen kung tuloy  yung  despedida niya.
Tom, you have to tx Arnel  or Vivs regarding  the venue. Time would  most probably be 5:00 pm.
Vivs,  you forgot  to scan and  attach  the photos, I think; you  have to repost this.  If the  venue has  been decided on,  try to tx Ramon Panaoen Lee he was asking  about updates  in  his text to me  sometime Tuesday  during  the Kapihan  probgram and  I could not respond  properly.   all I told  him was that I would text him  about decision for this Saturday's meeting. his  # 0920-921-0578
other matters
--  Talked  with  Mrs.  Joy Ruff over the phone  and while  he  offered the  Loakan  coffeeshop  as  venue for  the reunion, there might  be  flights  on those  days  and the  cafe  would be busy.  The  cafe  has a garden in the back  though  it would be cramped if 15 of us came with spouses  and kids.  She said    she will look for  other houses as venues. She  was not  feeling too  well  about to go down daw  with a  bad cold.
Earlier, when I passed by thier house  and she was  sleeping, I  talked with   their   caretaker  (who is also a  kababata  daw of Henry; how cruel lang I forgot to ask his name)  and he said  he  is  refurbsihing apartments beside their  house and  the front yard with   a  basketball  hoop  can be a place for  the bonfire. If you are thinking what I'm  thinking  this  coming  reunion could  be a  redux of our  night out  which was  hosted by the Ruff's then.
---  That  Saturday  that  the Baguio group  was supposed to meet,   surprise of  all surprises,  I got a call from MaAnne!  Shucks I  could not  believe it   and  I told  here  her voice  has not changed much and  the image  in my  mind's  eye was  still the Hi School  girl with a toothy smile,  sunburned long  brown-blond  hair  and with that toothy smile. Parang transported  back, time travel kung baga...  Kaya lang may echo and  scratchy  yung linya  at  may delay  na  couple of seconds. Couple that with my stutter  and voice  catch plus the  rain was really hard around 7:30 then at that  time  and you would  have had an idea how  we  were  communicating.  Pero  okay  lang, I think  we talked for less than  three minutes  but there  was so much said in so short  a time.
HOW MUCH MORE IF WE COME  TOGETHER  FOR THE  REUNION,  DI  BA!

Buddy, this Mon Lee's (panaoen)  e-mail add  [email protected] or perhaps  you can course  it  to [email protected]  I txd him and  confirmed about this,  am also Cc-ing  this  note  to his  address so we can confirm if  the mail has  reached him  and thus we can add to our  on-line group.
Sorry  about my phone, Bud, when you called during the meeting; my ringer si defective  it  seems.
Lets,  thanks  for calling  and thank  you for not fretting --  huag  kang  mag-alala  we will not forget your helpfullness with JOL.
Vivs,  sori  I think I  was rushing when i  opened  your  post. I  went  to our  web page and  all the  photos  like  you said  were  there.    Next  will come  the photos took by Tomas.
OK. kitakits uli  nagmamadali lang.

Subject: Reporting for duty; check out the pics
Friday last week was a holiday (to honor Ninoy's day of infamy), affording me and my family time to drive up to Baguio for a breather. Also for me to attend the consultation meeting between organizers for our December reunion (more on that later).

And what would greet us up there but a raging typhoon? Bummer, right? Well, not exactly. My teen daughter and her friend enjoyed it immensely. So did the wife. Especially when I drove them around rain-laden John Hay, Mines View, Pink Sisters, Wright Park, Teacher's Camp, Burnham, and those little winding pine-tree canopied side streets of suburban Baguio at late afternoon with the rain coming down in sheets as the fog descended, rendering visibility to nil. You all know the scene, typical Baguio rainy season weather, that's all. And we were kinda thrilled to the person, for different reasons.

Monday I opted for a quick company-sponsored medical check-up at Makati Med, in lieu of the regular annual 3-day work-out that meant going through all kinds of tests and procedures. Buti nga, I was getting tired of that early morning "cleansing" routine with the labatiba, the endless x-rays while they fed you this milky radioactive stuff, the terrible poking and peering into my rectum by that nasty doctor with the procto-tube or something. And yesterday (Tuesday), having been given a clean bill of health by the doc but to mind the diet and weight, I availed of my birthday leave and spent time with some friends for a few beers.

Today's my first day at the office after that long weekend. D'you think I hunkered down to attend to my accumulated work? Nah. I chose to write this post.

I'm happy to report that our classmates Arnel, Nates, Arlene L., Vivian, Carmen and Howie are reasonably okay. My cousin Joy was indisposed with a mild migraine, but she sent hubby Jess to proxy for her. As you can see fro m the photos I posted, we're all fine and dandy. (Don't forget to click on each picture to view it full-size.) A little older to look at, maybe, a bit rounder and thicker at the waist, hair sparser and eyesights poorer generally, but what the heck, all still the same quick-thinking, beautiful people we remember, sprightly and jolly and bright, the laughter and talk and wit undiminished.

And the stories we told...! I cannot even begin to recount to you the scraps and snippets of info, tales and anecdotes told as the evening wore on, both funny and sad, all of us harking back to the old days as unforgettable escapades and experiences were brought to mind. We treated ourselves not only to a feast from the menu of Brod Pit's resto, but also to a preview of the fun to be had by all those who can make themselves available on reunion day.

In fact, we were so caught up with the lively talk that we almost forgot to discuss plans for the reunion. Which brings me to the following developments:

Venue:

Team Baguio appears to be having trouble looking for a suitable venue for the reunion per the parameters we set (quiet stand-alone house or cottage, lots of trees, spacious grounds for a bonfire, an accessible enclosed hall for chit-chat and dancing, etc.), mainly because of the date of the event when almost all good sites in Baguio are engaged by out-of-towners. Not to worry, however, lead scouts Vivs and Arnel are working hard pursuing at least two hot leads for a site that would suit our purposes very nicely.

Emmett Fund:

Everyone agrees that all things being equal, each UBSHS alumnus regardless of batch owes his or her classical education to Emmett---or at least to the curriculum devised largely by him---whether to a greater or lesser extent, with or without the heartaches. Accordingly, it makes sense to acknowledge this truth by coming up with something that would make our mentor's waning days more comfortable, considering his present status. A variety of means was discussed, all requiring work and upkeep. In the end, to make it easy for everyone to help in the least bothersome way, all those concerned (not just members of our class) will simply be asked to make a pledge to contribute a fixed amount monthly to an Emmett Fund, no questions asked as to how the money would be spent by the recipient. Each contribution will be deposited into a bank account accessible only by Emmett---either an existing account or one to be opened for him. Someone will be asked to graciously approach Emmett about this undertaking to make him accept it.

Other community/school payback projects:

The particulars of this effort have not been discussed fully. It would be nice to do an activity that would mean a lot to our alma mater, or to a community that can benefit from an UBSHS-sponsored project. Ideas anyone?

Program:

Members of UBSHS Class '73 will be invited, together with their respective families. The invitation committee will make a separate effort to invite any of our teachers and school staff who can be prevailed upon to attend. The proposed 3-day reunion package stays.

Day 1, Friday, pm - Registration of attendees. Reunion kits to be issued, consisting of a commemorative T-shirt, pin, multimedia CD about our class, copy of Perspective '73 (2003 Edition), tickets, and the like. Formal dinner. Speeches. Impromptu get-togethers after dinner entirely optional.

Day 2, Saturday, whole day - Main activity. Start off with an early morning jog-walk, followed by morning Mass in a nearby church. Breakfast. A brief break. Holding of project-related ceremonies toward noon, then lunch. Speeches. Afternoon break. Start of assembly for get-together party around 4 pm. Speeches. Dancing. Booze. (Group sex? Joke.) Presentations, acts by classmates. Up to sawa.

Day 3, Sunday, am, optional – Family day for those who can join. Possibly a drive down to Bauang or Asin. Anything goes!

Financials and division of labor:

Depends on work and expenses to be incurred for the venue, food and drinks, give-aways and other collaterals. We'll know more about this in a few weeks.

Next eyeball:

Dinner on September 19, 2003 in Metro Manila. Select members of Team Baguio coming down (Arnel, Arlene, Nates, etc.), to be hosted by Team Manila (that's us, Buddy, Letty, Brenda)

Whew! Guess that's all for now. Arnel, Nates and the others will fill in what I missed in their own posts. All I can say is, 'twas truly heart-warming, our mini-reunion last Saturday. Can't wait to find out what happens when the real reunion unreels!
