| THE SCREAMING TREES |
| The Screaming Trees have made some of the most under-appreciated music of their day. Unlike other grunge bands who specialised in revisionist Black Sabbath riffs, The Screaming Trees mixed 80's punk with 60's psychadelic rock. Mark Lenagan's mello vocals added an additional distinctivness to the group. Notorious for having been a heavy-drinking band, The Screaming Trees often broke up at several points in their careers, but seemed to keep finding themselves back in the band again. |

A local produced convinced Veletone Studios to create and release their records. Their first CD, "Clairvoyance" assured them a deal with SST Records. "Even If And Especially When" was released under SST which included popular |
| songs such as "Transfiguration", which were live favorites. Their major label debut came with "Uncle Anaesthesia". By this time they had embraced the sound that one Melody Maker journalist called "unashamed 70's Yankee Rock, stradled by a burst of punk spite". Vocalist, Mark Lanegan, had begun to experement with his solo carear with the largley acoustic album, "The Winding Sheet" for Sub Pop |

This intensly personal collection included a cover version of Led Belly's "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" (aka "My Girl") which Kurt Cobain would eventually use in Nirvana's unplugged session on MTV. The album Dust, which was released in 1996, was considered to be a post-grunge psycadelic masterpiece. The mellow vocal and acoustical sound was induced by Lanegan's friendship with the |
