TEMPLE OF THE DOG
Temple Of The Dog was a one-off band created to pay tribute to the Grunge scene's first casualty and martyr.  The band consisted of Chris Cornell, and Matt Cameron from Soundgarden with Stone Gossard and Jeff
Ament of Mother Love Bone.
Temple Of The Dog is not a band that was at first very popular since it was a
tribute album and any form of promotion
was frowned upon. But that does not mean that the CD is not worth buying.
        The band fused sounds from
Mother Love Bone with the unusual and "funkier"
sound of Soundgarden.
Tracks like the album opener "Say Hello 2 Heaven" and "Reach Down" dealt with Wood's passing while most of the other songs deal with other topics.  Songs like "Hunger Strike", "Wooden Jesus", and "Your Saviour" were high points of the album.
However it wasn't untill a year later when
Nirvana broke into the mainstream with Nevermind that the awsome power of the album got the credit it deserved.  The song "Hunger Strike" was re-released as a
single with a music video, both of which were hits the second time around.  Temple Of The Dog went on to eventually sell over 2 million copies.
