was beginning to take it's toll on Cobain.  He began to feel that the only way to relieve the pain of his cronic stomach pains was to take a variety of drugs.  Soon, Cobain was using almost every day; some suggest the heroin addiction Kurt had developed may have even caused his stomach pains.
        When
In Utero was finally released, the effect was not as immediate as Nevermind, although Kurt Cobain's songwriting was unaffected.  Many fans consider this to be Nirvana's true masterpiece rather than Nevermind.  Songs like 'Rape Me'  and 'Penny Royal Tea' show Kurts descent into dispair and depression.

Soon the unavoidable happened; after an overdose in Rome, Kurt admitted himself into the Betty Ford center.  Three days later he jumped a wall and returned to Seattle.  On April 5, 1994, the man who was the heart and soul of The Grunge Revolution , injected himself with a lethal dose of Heroin and shot himself.
Nirvana was formed in Aberdeen, Washington (a small logging community ouside of Seatlle) in 1988 by Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic.  Their original drummer was Chad Channing, who was replaced several times befor recruting drummer Dave Grohl.  They found themselves signed to the Seattle based Sub Pop Records and released their first single, Love Buzz, first recorded by 70's Dutch band Shocking Blue.  Soon after they released their debut album, Bleach. Nirvana's ability to match heavy riffs with a catchy melody and quickly attracted a cult following.
With the adding of new drummer Dave Ghohl, Nirvana was ready to release their second album.  The new power trio singed a prestigious contract with Geffen RecordsNevermind exposed the world to The Grunge Revolution, a balance of punk and heavy metal.  Nirvana is known for single handedly bringing the Grunge subculture overground.
They quickly knocked off Michael Jackson and Dire Straits from the # 1 spot and topped many album of the year polls.  Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love married in February 1992 later giving birth to daughter Frances Bean Cobain.
It soon became obvious that Kurt Cobain was struggling with his new role as
'spokesman for a generation' and press interviews described the difficulties involved in creating the new album.  The new drug of choice in the Seatlle scene, heroin,
NIRVANA
Like Andy Wood to Mother Love Bone,  Nirvana was nothing without their friend and frontman.
Nirvana lives on though.  Although there has been a slight delay on the Nirvana box set, I believe very strongly that we have not herd the last of Kurts music.
