THE DOORS
The Doors are known for creating some of the most simple, but still very poetic classic rock and blues music in history as well as some of the greatest songs of their time largly to the efforts of now legendary frontman Jim Morrison.  Morrison's lyrical writing style was inspired by the writings of Nietzsche, Blake, Rimbaud, and others.
The Doors were a much darker band than what was considered acceptable at the time.  Songs on their debut album, specifically
"The End" featured shocking lyrical content.
Despite this controversy however, Morrison managed to gain an increasing audiance with popular songs such as
"Light My Fire" and "Break On Through".
As Morrison's alcohol and drug addiction grew so did his careless and sometimes violent behavior.  After being convicted of exposing himself in front of an audiance in Miami, he moved to paris and died of a heart attack in 1971.
The Door's legacy has only grown greater since his death leading to nearly mythic proportions.  Greatest Hits and Live albums continue to be released to this day selling fairly well considering the age of the band.  1991's The Doors movie made Morrison recharged the scene and has made The Doors a cult favorite for generations of teenagers to come.
