June 23 CALUMPIT "LIBAD" FESTIVAL Calumpit, Bulacan It is celebrated June 23, the day before the fiesta. A fluvial procession is held on the river with a decorated pagodas of every barrios. While in the procession, the people dance and "Basaan" is also done in honor of the patron saint, St. John the Baptist. June 23-25 KALIGUAN FESTIVAL Cagwait, Surigao del Sur A fluvial festival coupled with beach dancing and other beach-fun activities. June 23-29 41st AGGAW NAK CAGAYAN Province of Cagayan The 41st Anniversary of the founding of the civil government of Cagayan. Activities include lectures, exhibits, games, a beauty pageant, and others. June 23-July 1 12th PIAT SAMBALI FESTIVAL Piat, Cagayan A religious and cultural revival in commemoration of the christianization of the Itawes region of Cagayan; days of colorful street dancing, evening cultural shows and cultural presentations. June 24 ARAW NG MAYNILA Manila Celebrates the founding of Manila with parades, sports events and the Manila Film Festival. June 24 PARADA NG LECHON Balayan, Batangas Roasted pigs known as "lechons" are costumed and decorated, and are paraded around town, afterwhich they are declared fair game for everyone. Feast of St. John the Baptist. Visitors are welcomed by the townsfolk with a generous dousing. June 24 REGADA (WATER FESTIVAL) Cavite City In honor of Nuestra Senora de Porta Vaga Sprinklers are installed at the City�fs street so that revelers get a shower. June 24 TAONG-PUTIK Bibiclat, Aliaga, Nueva Ecija Taong-putik sprang from a unique practice of the devotees of Saint John the Baptist in Bibiclat, Aliaga, Nueva Ecija. Their bodies are completely covered with mud and adorned with vines, banana leaves or dried coconut leaves. The ritual starts as the curtain of the early dawn rises on June 24 - as the streets of Bibiclat becomes the stage for the unfolding of the performance of the devotees of the Fiesta ni San Juan Bautista. They ask aims and candles from the people and offering them at the Church during the special mass celebrated at 7:00 in the morning. June 24 SAN JUAN HIBOK-HIBOKAN Catarman and Mambajao, Camiguin Boat races and other beach fun activities, participated by the different barangays/NGOs/LGUs. June 24 FEAST OF ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST "LECHON" FESTIVAL Pola, Oriental Mindoro "PARADA NG LECHON": Garbed in creative costumes and disguises, "Lechons" are paraded around the town in the accompaniment of gay chanting and "buhusan" a customary practice during the San Juan Bautista feast; a selection of the best from among the number of entries follows and a free-all banquet is open to the townsfolk and visitors alike. June 26-29 LAMI-LAMIHAN FESTIVAL Lamitan, Basilan A festival showcasing the Yakan culture with natives wearing authentic costumes, simulation of a Yakan wedding, baptism, graduation, and other ritual. June 27-July 4 ARAW NG LANAO DEL NORTE Prov'l. Capitol Pigcarangan Tubod, LDN Annual celebration of Araw Ng Lanao del Norte highlighted with the following events: Pista Sa Suba, Trade Fair, Agri-Livestock Fair, People's Day, Pista Sa Nayon, and SAGAYAN FESTIVAL. June 28-30 APUNG IRU FLUVIAL FESTIVAL Apalit, Pampanga The most awaited activity of this festival is the colorful fluvial procession wherein the image of St. Peter is brought down from Capalangan to Calumpit River where a colorfully decorated mini pagoda awaits the image. June 29 SAN PEDRO FIESTA Davao City A celebration of the feast of San Pedro the patron saint of Davao. Religious activities, procession and merrymaking are among its activities. June 29 PINTADOS FESTIVAL Tacloban City Street pageantry and contest focusing on the Leytenos old custom of tattooing signifying courage and status in the community. June 29 FEAST OF STS. PETER AND PAUL Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro Street Dancing Event: Ati-Atihan Festival but with variety like dancers-young and old-dressed in leaves variety like dancers- young and old-dressed in leaves of different kind. CARABAO PARADE: "Beasts of burden" adorned with costumes so creatively and artistically designed, and paraded around the town to the folks' admiration; the Best-Fashioned awarded afterwards. June 29-30 & July 1 PINTAFLORES FESTIVAL San Carlos City, Negros Occidental A colorful and lively street dancing and dance rituals performed by dancers with tattoos and painting of flowers on their faces, arms and bodies. The originality and gracefulness of the dancers make the festival a must see for tourists and locals alike, celebrated simultaneously with the Charter Anniversary of the City. June 30 TACLOBAN CITY FIESTA Tacloban City A string of socio-civic-religious activities celebrating fiesta with gaiety and solemnity that leytenos are known for. |
