image004.jpg        30.03.08           JUST IN... SPURS HAVE A NEW SUPPORTER!

Big congratulations to Dave and Jane on becoming parents – Fionn was born little over an hour ago weighing in at 3.88 kilos – just in time for Dave to wet the baby’s head while taking in the Spurs v Newcastle game. Best wishes to you both, look forward to seeing a few snaps of the little fella! I do hope OC’s are going to be his first team Dave?!

A solitary goal from James sealed OC’s sixth straight win at the YMCA and it’s now 21 games without defeat (13 wins, 8 draws). OC’s sit two points clear at the top of the table with games against Hold The Phone (next week), Headless Chooks and Sverge to come. Great preparation for the big Charity Shield match against Bohemian Celtic on Sunday - the curtain raiser to OC’s 2008 Premier DDivision campaign. I expect a match report from this one lads! Also, get the squad list over to me (names, dates of birth, nationalities, clubs, and most importantly, photographs) and I’ll get the 2008 team up ASAP.

image004.jpg        23.03.08           6-A-SIDE RESULT 20.03.08 – O’Carrolls 7 – 1 Internationale FC

Quite a result against Inter last Thursday, OC’s storming to a 7-1 victory and the second win over Inter in as many weeks. Quick note on last week’s game, it was Gus and Martin that secured the win, with Martin netting his first goal for OC’s. Unfortunately he followed that up with an OG last Thursday and I’m sure the boys gave him some stick for that. This week it was all the 6-A-Side leading scorers on the scoresheet: James bagged a hat-trick, the sixth occasion on which he’s scored three or more in a game, Neville got two, and Gus and Tancell got a goal a piece. James did get himself sent off after a second caution, one of which was for applauding the referee, but no harm done – OC’s were 6-0 up at the time and he does wish to apologise to the team for the sending off. Next week we’re up against Hamstrung and we’ll be looking to continue our good record against them. You can ignore last weeks rant about the format of the league; a closer look at the teams would have shown me they’ve adopted a far more sensible two-up two-down format. Happy Easter lads and enjoy the weekend of football ahead - come on United!

Nothing doing on this fixture – I don’t even know who we were playing!

A great win for OC’s saw them qualify top of the group going into the second round - I don’t know who scored however. Next week, it’s Inter again at 9.55PM. The YMCA seem to have abandoned the format of the top two from each group meeting in the second round of games and now... well... I don’t really know how it’s decided now. I’m all for making it competitive and yes, teams won’t want to come up if they’re going to get thumped every week, but there are two sides to the argument. There’s little incentive to perform in the opening five fixtures if you’re already guaranteed a spot in the top group for the second stage of games. Just my opinion mind you.

Don’t know much about this game, but I believe OC’s won. Well done lads.

image004.jpg        06.03.08           6-A-SIDE RESULT 06.03.08 – O’Carrolls 1 - 0 Hold The Phone

A solitary goal from James secured victory against Hold The Phone last night and it sees OC’s hold onto top spot going into the final opening round game against rivals Inter next week. Having been held to a 2-2 draw against Skillz That Killz last night, Inter fail to qualify for the next round as one of the top two teams. That doesn’t mean they’ll be any less pumped for next weeks game – pride is always at stake when these two sides meet! It’s great to see OC’s beginning to show the kind of form that has seen them win numerous competitions in the past, and when the lads are enjoying their football, teams will find it extremely difficult to take points off them!

image004.jpg        06.03.08           7-A-SIDE RESULT 05.03.08 – O’Carrolls 0 – 1 Bhoys

The 7-A-Side tournament ended in defeat last Wednesday to Bhoys leaving OC’s someway off the pace in mid-table. The general feeling seems to be one of disappointment as OC’s failed to make an impact in the top group for the second successive season. It’s simply a case of next year I guess!
