02.09.08 EMAILS...
Just read the
match report from Thursday and I’ve got a daft quote from the game that can be
put up on the website (and for a change didn’t come from Hirdy). In fact, it
didn’t even come from an OC’s player. With a couple minutes to go we were 8-3
up and the ball fell to Jay on the edge of their box, after twisting and
turning he shot with his right foot which was a very weak effort and trickled
to the keeper. One of their lads then jeered up the rest of his team mates by
saying “he’s got no right foot lads”………… but he’s scored six with his left
BUD!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO
GUSSY - WE ALL ENJOYED A CURRY WITH GARY GLITTER IN ELLERSLIE. Biddy might not
of done though, as his ended up as a street pizza.
Congrats to Max and Bundy at Los Halcones for getting into the final of 3/4/5th
Division Plate - good luck lads in the final.
Graham Kay missed a sitter for Eastern Suburbs against Central in the title
decider at 0-0 - they eventually got smashed 4-0.
Alfie turned out for Eastern Suburb’s 5th team on Saturday - they lost to
second bottom Metro. Well done bud!
18 days until Fiji - I can’t wait to hit the beach and of course sample a few
of the islands pleasures (not Mary!)
Duncan also gets a mention - texting other people to ask them if we have a game
this weekend; why not text me to ask???

28.08.08 – O’Carrolls 8 – 3 HSBC AFC
Won 8-3 last Thursday, goals again the order of the night. Matt stepped in
for Richie, Dan 'The Rock' Bradley, Paddy Del Piero, Nev 'Poke' Poole, Gus
'Tricks' Welton and I lined up. Poke scored the opening goal, good harassing
from him and one on one no mistake with his toe to put us in the lead. Then a
barrage of goals, think at half time it was 6-2. Del Piero got in the mix again
with a good finish and I managed to grab four. Crazy spell in the last 90
seconds of the half with three goals, two coming straight from kick-offs, one
from each team. I managed two more in the second half, and we just sprayed the
ball around, never in danger of losing. All played well and on a good roll at
the moment, hope it continues. Fitness is looking good as well, despite severe
lack of Sunday games, think it’s all those 'short' jogs Tim sends us off on
Wednesdays.

21.08.08 – O’Carrolls 3 – 1 Hold The Phone
Team was Richie,
Bradley, Paddy, Nev, Me, Lee and Gaz (I know that's seven - we had a sub!!). We
won 3-1; scorers were Nev with a toe-poke that dribbled through the
keeper’s legs, me with a left foot shot into the top corner after a through
ball by Bradley and Lee with a nice finish after a tidy build up. Richie
made a few good saves, one with his feet that stood out. Debuts for Lee (a mate
of Jonesy from Bedale!!) and Bradley’s brother Gaz. Paddy Del Piero had a
quiet-ish game after the heroics of recent weeks - effective
enough though.

20.08.08 A few words from Tim...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO
GIBBO - HE ENJOYED THE EVENING IN THE COCK AND BULL – well, what he can
remember anyway.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY - this
week it’s TOMMY THE TANK - LOL
Quotes and other stuff this week...
Alex Bell - I don’t want Hyppia or Davies in my fantasy team - a goal and a
clean sheet may change his mind.
Biddy - Why did that old man get me in a head lock??? Drunken bum!
Hirdy - Spaz version complete - I got a phone call on Sunday morning to ask who
we were playing and what time we were meeting.
Jobba - The water bottles have turned up at my house.
Paddy - complaining about Gus not finishing after a Del Piero type through ball.
Graham - scoring twice for Suburbs - 4 goals this week.
James - scoring for fun in the 6-A-Side league - NEW STRIKER FOR SUNDAYS??????
Lee - In the cock and bull - God this lot are hammered - I have a lot of
catching up to do!! LOL
Tim Eddison
Thanks for the
birthday wishes Tim. One thing I certainly won’t be having this year is a
Blackjack – not after the mess I made in OC’s two years ago. Gibbo, happy
birthday from last week mate. Next week, it’s Gus!

14.08.08 – O’Carrolls 6 – 3 Scudders
Goals goals goals - it seems we have decided to just keep attacking even
if we concede and get the wins that way. This was the graveyard game and it
took us a while to get into our stride but once we did, I don't think we were
ever in danger of losing. Richie, Dan B, Paddy, Nev, Gus and myself were the
line-up and everyone had a good game. Shots coming back off the posts, good
tackles and link-up play from us all. I think it would have been seven goals or
more if it was the same line up as last week, but Nev returned so that didn't
happen! I'll do this the fairest way as I can't remember except for the 1st
goal which Dan B set up for myself, then Gus set me up, then Richie set me up,
then Nev set me up, then Paddy set me up and a deflected shot from myself went
in OG. All in all a good team effort given the time of kick-off, one assist
each and five easy tap-ins from me.

14.08.08 CORRECTION
Just a quick one, I was wrong about the OG on Thursday last and was
corrected quite rightly by Dan; Paddy was in fact the scorer of the OG

10.08.08 BIRTHDAY WISHES
Happy Birthday to Graham (belated – 40 on the August 5th) and Jobba (don’t
know how old he is, his youthful good looks are deceptive) – from all the boys
at OC’s.

"That’s Entertainment" was the feedback from the higher than
average crowd (3 - Tancy, Matt and Alfie). Right from the centre it was all
action, 1-0 up from kick off, straight in the old onion bag, would like to take
all the credit, but Gus laid a lovely ball off and then that man again Dan
Bradley said shoot! He has got skills and knows when to say the right thing!
Scoring then opened up and I can't remember the exact order of goals, but
it was a free for all. Duncan got two well taken goals and I managed to squeeze
in another four. Great performances all round, Richie pulled off some great
saves, one point blank one stood out in particular! Dan B marshalled the
defence magnificently, Paddy and Duncan non-stop running and Gus linking up
with all very well, through balls all over the place and no one had to stretch
for any of his passes!
All in all another good performance, goals were conceded but it was an
enjoyable game and never did we look in danger of losing. Paddy was also on
time. Last but not least (I may be corrected on this) but Dan B did get on the
scoresheet in the final seconds, deflecting the kick off past Richie! This game
had it all.

05.08.08 6-A-SIDE RESULT
31.07.08 – O’Carrolls 2 – 1 Hamstrung United
Good result
last night, 2-1 against old foe's Hamstrung. 0-0 at half time we played the
first half with five (Paddy struggled with time-keeping or something). Dan
Bradley was magnificent in defence, midfield and attack. Nev, Gus, Richie and I
played second fiddle to his involvement on the pitch for those first 12
minutes. Second half came and so did Paddy (I think he nearly came after his
goal as well), 1-0 we took the lead, lucky strike from me squeezed under the
keeper, good build up from Gus and Dan Bradley again. Then they equalised, all
were to blame except Dan Bradley. Then came the winner - Paddy with a great run
and goal in off the post from distance. When we lined up for the centre, Paddy
said and I quote "Paddy Del Piero strikes again", self proclaimed
legend, we may have been cruising by this point but the exertions of the first
half took it out of most covering for "Sir Del Piero". All in all
good game and good form continues. Dan Bradley was immense as I have mentioned.

Please can you put this all up on the website? You may feel too much on
Dan B, but I forgot him last week and he was very upset!!
