image002.jpg        29.02.08           6-A-SIDE RESULT 28.02.08 – O’Carrolls 5 – 0 Volcanics

5-0 win last night.

Neville (2), James (2) and Duncan were on the scoresheet.

Gus was out at the Chemical Brothers and may struggle to get to back into the team!

James ‘Nutty’ Nutt

Neville and James make up some ground in 6-A-Side leading scorer in Gus’ absence with a crushing victory over Volcanics. That win will see OC’s maintain their position at the top of the table in this first round of games. Next week it’s Hold The Phone, a team that have failed to beat us in seven attempts, and have shipped four goals in each of our last three meetings.

OC's win 2-0 - goals from Miles and Dan Green seal a well needed victory. Tim didn’t make the game so captain Welton became MANAGER Welton.
His words were "I’m a manager genius".

So a first win in six games in 7-A-Side, and the first clean sheet in the competition since December. OC’s early great form deserted us over the last few weeks but it will be great to finish the tournament strongly with a victory in the final game next week against Bhoys. James and Olly were on the scoresheet in a 2-0 win over the same opposition last season – same again next week will do just nicely! Good luck lads. Look forward to hearing how the 6-A-Side goes against Volcanics tonight.

image002.jpg        22.02.08           6-A-SIDE RESULT 21.02.08 – O’Carrolls 3 – 1 Hamstrung United

In case people have been wondering, I haven’t been counting tournaments in the stats, so last nights victory against Hamstrung was competitive victory number 150! Wahey! It was secured with a 3-1 win - a double from 6-A-Side all-time-leading-scorer Gus, and a third from James. Our fantastic winning record against Hamstrung continues and our poor run of form in 7-A-Side was cast aside. I will update the leading scorer tables at the end of each round, so until then you’ll have to do your own maths to find out how many goals behind Gus you are. At present he holds an 11 goal lead. Next week it’s a late kick off against Volcanics – twice we met them last round and twice both sides scored twice (that’s 2-2 in both games if you couldn’t follow that).

No report – we were shocking!

Scorer: Gus (P)

image002.jpg        14.02.08           7-A-SIDE RESULT 13.02.08 – O’Carrolls 1 – 3 Go Feet

This week started with Matt in goal, Paddy and Jobba at the back, Hirdy in the centre with Gibbo and Gus on either flank and Miles up front.

We started off brightly with Gibbo hitting the side netting and Miles having two shots brilliantly saved. You guessed it though, Go Feet’s first chance ended up in the back of the net - 1-0. And that’s how it stayed until the break, with Jobba hobbling off and then receiving a card for abusing the ref... or was it advising him how to do his job!

We got caught again early in the 2nd half after some sloppy passing gifted Go Feet an easy chance - 2-0. OC's got back into the games when Miles' dive
[any fines for diving when the Sunday League kicks off?] got us a penalty which he tucked away to make it 2-1. Go Feet finished off the scoring with a soft third goal which killed the game off.

This weekend sees us go into the Best Of The West competition (a six team comp over the next five Saturdays) with the likes of Saturday Prem sides Waitakere City and Oratia Utd.

Tim Eddison

Onwards and upwards lads! As I’m writing this, OC’s will have already kicked off the 6-A-Side for 2008 against Skillz That Killz, so I’ll be looking forward to the report for that one. I’ll have a table for all time leading scorers in 6-A-Side soon – Gus, Nev and Tancell are all up there, and James can’t be too far behind. On Saturday OC’s really get to test themselves when they meet Oratia Blue in the first game of the Best Of The West tournament, which will be running over the next five weeks. It’s great to see the club constantly pushing forward and testing ourselves against some the best – it’s one of the reasons OC’s has been such a successful club. There’ll be more on that tournament as the results come in. Happy Valentines Day!

image002.jpg        07.02.08           7-A-SIDE RESULT 06.02.08 – Inter Caramello 1 – 1 O’Carrolls

Brilliant preparations for this one - a night at the cricket and then Tim’s birthday celebrations till the early hours of the morning.

Inter only turned up with 4 men and had to borrow 5 others from Savour and Devour - who had just played a game on the other pitch. OC's dominated from start to finish – Inter had one shot the whole game and yep, you guessed it, SCORED!

OC's had five brilliant first half chances with Miles missing a one on one and Graham's Predators not living up to their name. I lost my voice at the cricket and it sounded like every one else had too - 1-0 to Inter at the break.

The 2nd half Inter put everyone behind the ball - we must have missed at least another four chances before Miles was brought down with a minute to go... PENALTY! The Inter player was dismissed for foul language and Miles slotted home the resulting penalty.

Our finishing once again let us down - I wonder what we will be practising at pre season training?????????

Tim Eddison

So another red card eh!?!? That 150th win is proving hard to reach - maybe I’ve jinxed you lads? I’m not going to mention it again! OC’s are without a win in three, picking up a solitary point from the last three games. We’re now six points off the top, sitting sixth in the league. Next week we face Go Feet – these guys inflicted one of our heaviest ever defeats last season, beating us 4-0. That should be motivation enough for next Wednesday. That’ll be our last game against the top sides; the final three games are all against teams from the bottom half of the table so those will provide a great opportunity to improve our final league position.

On a sad note, my MP3 player got nicked from my jacket the other day – gutted! The tube journey home is a lot tougher to face without the gravel voiced Neil Diamond to appease me.
