Pacific Forktail

Ischnura cervula

The Pacific Forktail is tiny, and instead of having shoulder stripes, it has four pale blue spots on the dark top of the thorax. The face is green and the thorax is blue on the sides. Abdominal segments 1, 2 and 10 are blue. The remainder of the abdomen is dark. Females vary from pinkish in the young to nearly black in mature individuals. This species is similar to the Plains Forktail.
