Hagen's Bluet

Hagen's Bluet is a small blue and black damsel that is very similar to the Marsh Bluet. The thorax of the male is mostly blue. Abdominal segments 6 and 7 are more black than blue. The female is a duller blue, with the abdomen mostly black on top.

Habitat: ponds and marshes

Great Plains Range: NE, SD, ND, CO, WY, MT, MO, IA, MN

Flight season: June to September
