The male Emma's Dancer is a striking violet color with a blue tip to the abdomen. Females are generally grey/brown. Both have a narrow black stripe on the top of the thorax.

Habitat: along rivers and streams, both rapid and slow-moving

Great Plains Range: NE, SD, CO, WY, MT, IA

Flight season: June to September
